“I lived here for the past year while attending graduate school and was really impressed with the management team. They genuinely care about building a sense of community, decorating for holidays, organizing events, and even hosting breakfast and pizza parties. Their effort made living here enjoyable.
The location was great—I loved being close to my school, yoga studio, and downtown. The apartments are nice, and maintenance is easy to reach and very responsive. The heating and cooling system is a bit quirky. On the ground (2nd) floor, I never needed AC, but winters were very chilly, likely due to the large windows. If you're moving into a ground floor unit, expect to keep the heat on regularly.”
“Been living here since September and whenever there was an issue, maintenance was prompt, pleasant, and quick to resolve right the first time. I'm enjoying living here.”
“Lived here for almost a year and it has been a great apartment living experience. Built in the 1880s, Clocktower certainly has the character and charm from that era but also modern amenities to go with it. The apartments themselves are quite spacious, our 20ft ceiling made the space feel very large and roomy. The riverside facing apartments have marvelous views. I never had issues with maintenance, they updated kitchen countertop as well as microwave and other issues were dealt with quite quickly. Also, I loved working out in the gym, swimming laps and dunking in the jacuzzi- so good! The package room is safe and secure too.
Talking about some cons - you have to bear in mind the hallways go on forever so moving in and out can be tiring, especially if you are in one of the end units.
Parking can be a bit of a pain especially during winters but that's not a big draw back. You do have to ask your guests to park offsite overnight so that can be a minor inconvenience. The location is in the heart of downtown, and I have indeed seen my fair share of homeless people loitering around panhandling but once you're inside that's never an issue.
I expected the HVAC bills to blow me out of water but they were quite reasonable. 'Hogwash' isn't the word I would describe it as. Once you understand how Whalen units work, it can be managed.
Shout out to the awesome ladies from the front office, they really put in an effort to make the experience better.”
“The employees at the desk are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the theater room! It would be great for a superbowl party. The original mill flooring and exposed brick in the apartments are absolutely beautiful.”
“14 months ago I moved into a lovely extra large studio after selling my home waiting for an apartment for 55 and older. I didn’t know what to expect being a home owner and reservations were made via telephone. I arrived at the clubhouse and was greeted by Aurie, one of the managers and Deb Manager of the housekeeping department. Once checked in, they offered to help me with my luggage which was a big help. Once unpacked, I walked around the grounds which are beautiful as are the rooms with several floor plans to choose from. (I would encourage reservations to be made as early as possible). There is a pool that they keep open late into September and if handicap, they even thought of a chair to help you in and out of the pool! Basketball Court for adults and children used year round. Most popular especially in the winter is their beautifully landscaped fire pit. Laundry is on-site making it convenient to walk or drive to laundry mat without leaving the grounds! There are families in transition selling homes and waiting for home sales to drop or interest rates to go down, families that are traveling, coming up from the south for the summer and back south for the winter. Most important, everyone is respectful and kind to each other including dogs who meet friends along the way. Special thanks to Renee, reception, Deb, Sheryl, (another great housekeeper) Mitch, Manager of the property and others, Kyle, Frank,(24/7) two of the best maintenance men, proud of the grounds and apartments they maintain, and the winter snow! Zack, also reception where mail and packages are delivered. Another great group of kids that keep the grounds and apartments lovely as I call them,”the crew” are Bob, Corey and many other kids who are terrific that I should know by name but only face. As I get ready to leave November 1st, this has been a wonderful experience and I thank all of you for making my stay so enjoyable.
