February 2024 by Katie Y
I would give five stars for the staff that talked to me in person, and only them. However, the manager, Jen, made me feel worse than I've ever felt dealing with a care facility, even for my own healthcare. I brought my cat, Phoebe, to be seen here two times for two unrelated reasons. They put me on a payment "plan" which was basically "put a deposit of $1000, and pay us the remaining $534 by February 10th." Which is about 15~ish days from when she was seen. I was like, okay no problem, thank you guys so much and expressed my gratitude many times. It really helped me so much. I make that $534 easy, in 3 days of work. I just needed to pay $1600 in rent by the 1st, so I needed a bit more time to save. So we agreed to this plan and they told me it was okay. But then, February 1 rolls around and I had brought Phoebe to them again, and paid in full for the visit this time for what they did. Or at least I thought I did... The next day, Jen called me, and basically made me feel horrible for being on a plan to pay later... she made it clear that she was pissed off that I wasn't paying all the money up front which made me cry.. I just kept saying "I'm sorry, I don't know what to say... I was just doing what I thought was okay with you guys.." because they're the ones who approved it. I don't know about medical stuff and I thought that I had paid for what I was supposed to so far. She kept saying that I shouldn't have even been able to do this and I didn't know what to say... I was really sad and didn't understand what she trying to tell me about my cat's bloodwork... I'm a manager myself in my own field, so I can understand the frustration when people don't pay, but anyway... She made me feel horrible and I didn't know how to respond. I called and paid them today, February 4th, for the remainder of what I owe them... 6 days before our agreement stated the money was due by. And I will never go back here unless absolutely necessary.. the whole day because of that phone call with Jen, I just couldn't stop crying, even at work. I felt like I did something really wrong.. I'm really stressed out, and my cat is going through a lot and is showing a lot of new and frequent signs of aging and now increased neurological episodes that no vets have been able to recognize, and I just want to get her the best care I can. My cat has an appointment with a regular vet tomorrow... I will get referred to a neurologist tomorrow...

I have never met a more caring group of individuals anywhere, not just at other veterinary offices. When my dog became suddenly ill a few months ago he was misdiagnosed at two other places and we almost lost him multiple times. I made the choice to try VECC and started seeing Dr. Rollings. Every single person at this facility is caring, patient, and incredible at what they do from the front desk person to the internist vet. My dog is generally very anxious to go to the vet but he has wagged his tail every time going in here. Despite how sick he's been he seems to feel happy and comfortable at VECC. It has been a long road and we may still have a ways to go but I feel confident that they are doing everything they can so save my dog. While going through all of this my other dog became ill, likely from the stress of the first dog being sick. I brought her into VECC emergency department and they were amazing with her as well! The emergency or specialist vet is a place you hope to never need to visit. But I am so grateful that I found VECC!

It’s hard to find motivation to leave a 5 star review when you find out your pet isn’t going to make it, but that isn’t their fault. Cosmo received great care from this facility. He was diagnosed with liver failure and cancer which is still a shock to me. They called me multiple times a day to update me and were very sensitive towards me. I had multiple break downs and they were very attentive to my questions even when some of them were repeated. Cosmo is my little buddy, my sweet boy and handsome man. I’ll always hold him in my heart ❤️. Thank you VECC for doing the best you can

They deserve more than five stars. Without them, my puppy wouldn't have survived. Without knowing, I adopted a puppy with parvovirus, and took her here as soon as she started showing symptoms. Within an hour of arriving, they tested her, determined she was "very positive" for the virus, and immediately started treatment. She had to be hospitalized there so they called me every 12 hours with updates on how she was doing. After receiving several calls that she wasn't doing well, day three came around and they said she was doing much better and I could take her home the following day if it continued. So on day four I picked her up and they gave us all the medication she needed. Although expensive, they're pricing was very reasonable for everything they had to do. She was a totally different dog once leaving there and is still happy and healthy to this day, five months later. Without a doubt this will be the place I take her if anything else happens to her and our usual vet is closed (they're 24/7 which was a life saver, literally).

The staff at VECC was efficient and kind during our emergency visit last night. I called ahead to let them know I was rushing my dog to them. They had staff waiting to help us as soon as we arrived and every person we met showed compassion and support while we said goodbye to our best friend.

Brought our cat in last night a bit after 10pm because he got in a fight with our other cat and the ear got split open at the top. We get in and within a couple minutes we get sent to a room. Okay everything is great so far. Then the slow downfall. We hear stuff going on outside the door for awhile and then now we’re pushing almost 2 hrs just sitting there twiddling our thumbs wondering where the hell anyone is to come check on us and let us know we will be seen soon. My girlfriend went to the bathroom and as soon as she came back we decided to leave because there was NOBODY anywhere in the building but we could hear everyone chatting and laughing somewhere in the building. Pathetic business and workers you got there. Nobody seems to care about other patients/animals. Glad there’s other businesses emergency or not that actually care and will take care of your cat/dog immediately. Not this place

I want to thank you guys so much for tonight. You made everything nice. Thank you so much for having that room for us to spend our last moment with my dog. The way the room is set up is just like the home he was raised in. Thank you so much.

0/10 do not recommend. Came here out of caution for my boy experiencing some pain. Googled the closest place open and rushed here. Small wait, brought into an exam room asked some questions and our dog was taken away from us and the door shut. After over an hour of him being in to what I assume was a cage/crate he was barking excessively. In the beginning I just assumed he’s anxious he’s in a new environment a little in the beginning is normal. It went on for an entire hour straight which made me begin to question what was going on, he loves all people had a worker been with him at any point he would’ve stopped barking. Read some google reviews while waiting which didn’t sit well with me. (Specifically the one from razor burns) We had to hunt down a worker to ask if our dog had been seen yet. Every door shut, no workers around, frosted windows and dim hallways. She had to find someone to ask and was confirmed he hadn’t been but was promised he was next. Something about this place didn’t sit right with me. I’m not sure why our dog couldn’t stay in the exam room until the vet was ready to see him. My dog was barking for over an hour obviously in distress, probably stressing out any other animal in whatever room they were confined to. We ended up asking for him and leaving. We were seen next day on a major holiday elsewhere for only a few hundred dollars, full scans of everything but the best part he was in the room and everything was done in front of us. He never once barked while there, every worker greeted him, gave him treats and they even suggested some supplements to buy online versus paying more at the office. Now that is the type of experience I would hope anyone would receive. Our pets are like our children and this experience was the equivalent of hearing your toddler cry for an hour unsupervised knowing no one had checked on them. All they did was take his vitals and did not charge for anything. Vibes were weird here I don’t recommend.

The compassion my family and my franny was shown today was out of this world. I can’t thank the vets and staff for taking such good care of her and her babies. You truly set a standard for what vets should be like! I can’t thank you all enough.

This place not only took us in right away after we had been turned away elsewhere for lack of a vet on duty, and they immediately got my dog into an oxygen kennel for his trouble breathing. They ran tests and cares for him for five hours before he started falling down hill fast and passed of massive heart failure. We could not have been taken care of better than they did. You could see the hurt in the vet’s eyes as she went over all the information with us.The prices were normal for emergency care. They even have a separate comfort room for animals who are passing or have passed. It has comfortable chairs, a noise machine, fireplace/heater and a blue tooth doorbell for when you need a staff member. They have thought of everything and it works amazingly. They even light a candle at the front desk alerting others that someone’s pet is passing and to please be quiet and respectful.I would recommend this emergency vet to anyone remotely in the area. I've already referred a family member and a friend to them for their elderly pet euthanasia in the coming months.

The team here was friendly and professional. They did surgery on my dog after she was hit by a car. I loved that they weren't rushed and explained everything in detail, answering my questions. I'd definitely recommend!

Words can not express how much we sincerely appreciate the help, kindness, respect and support provided to our family at the passing of our beloved Kai Ken Dog, Jetta Marie. We were visiting a friend and were away from home when Jetta’s, an elderly Kai Ken, condition worsened. By God’s Grace, we were guided to the VECC listing. We were told to bring her in and once there the staff readily and professionally took her back to begin working on her. After the initial assessment the Doctor came out and gave us her diagnosis. At this point we had a difficult decision to make and the doctor was instrumental in providing the key points to use in doing this. Regrettably, with her advanced deterioration of organs and other complications, we decided it was time to let her go. VECC made our decision easier, allowing us to spend time with her, as much as needed, offering a private area to say farewell, allowing us to choose how to take care of the remains and all of this in a patient, professional, beyond caring way. Jetta is a part of our family, this was a part our journey with her and VECC helped take some of the heart ache out of the process. We feel blessed to have been pointed in their direction and recommend their services wholeheartedly.?????
