It’s 8:13AM. The agency was supposed to open at 8AM. No one is here; 3 of us are waiting in line. I’m feeling frustrated because you expect us to show up on time for our reservation but you all don’t?

This place sucks! I was dropping off my boyfriend to pick up the car he had rented online and PRE-PAID for while his car was in the shop. When we get there they ask for his card, and its not reading his chip correctly. Their machine is broken. They need a new card for incidentals.. so i offer to use mine. Nope- im not on the reservation. I tell them to add me as a driver and take my card on file. Its ALREADY PAID for anyway.. nope. They tell us to use my card they need to cancel his reservation.. so they call corporate and cancel and he has to wait 8-10 days to get his money back. BTW Its been 20 business days now and still no refund for the original $500...So we still needed a car so i said they could rebook in my name, but they were going to charge me $250 more because it was a same day reservation... mind you we had a pre-paid reservation.. They said we could talk to someone upon our return to fix this before i was charged.. of course the manager was not there, and has not returned any of our phone calls and went ahead and charged my card the entire amount. Worst customer service of my life.

Great service until I had a problem. The woman who answered the phone was aggressive and blamed me for the issues surrounding my rental for the car not starting.

This location does not let you leave your car here during your rental. So you better plan on getting a ride or calling a cab. The staff is very rude and unaccommodating. Will not be renting here again.

Pretty simple.#1. This address doesn't exist anymore. Update your address.#2. You can't park your vehicle overnight in the lot. They don't have that as part of their "lease agreement." So it cost me over an hour to coordinate rides.#3. My one request was a car with EZ pass. I received a car without an EZ pass. Had to then DRIVE HOME AGAIN to get my own EZ pass.I rent a ton of cars for work. I will not come back to this place.

NO. Just No. I reserved an SUV from the Portsmouth location for pick up at 1:00 on a weekday. Upon arriving at the rental center 45 minutes late (1:45), the door was locked and a sign was on the door saying "Be Back at 3:00." So I waited over an hour until someone returned, only to be told that they had already rented my car to someone else because I was not there right at 1:00. They said they tried to call me. I had no voicemail, no text, and no "Recent" call from them. They had obviously lied, and took the money that was in front of them rather than extending the courtesy of a phone call to see if I was still coming for the rental. There were no other available cars for rent at this location. DON'T USE THE PORTSMOUTH OFFICE.

I have yet to have a good experience renting from Hertz, and this last time was no exception. I reserved an SUV from the Portsmouth, NH location, for pick up at 1:00. I arrived 45 minutes late at 1:45. The office door was locked and a sign was on the door saying "Be back at 3:00." So I waited until 3:00, only to be told that they had already rented my SUV to someone else, because I was late. There were no other vehicles available to rent. They said that they called me, but I had no voicemail, text, or any indication of a phone call from them that day. Never again. Any cost savings is just not worth the hassle I experience with Hertz every single time.

Not sure if it is because of Covid 19, but occasionally they close the service down. I was returning a car and had to place the keys into a lockbox in the mid afternoon to return it.
