Fun store, great gifts! Customers nearby were giggling at the cute and smile-provoking items. A must do in Portsmouth!

Loved everything about my experience here. The sweet clerk greeted us tourists with such a warm heart and she was incredibly kind during our shopping trip. Not only did she guide us on purchases, she also provided insight to local attractions. I bought two pairs of earrings and my friends also made great purchases that we used through our New England excursion. Thank you!

First impression of the place was that it was dark. I couldn’t even tell the true color of what I was looking at. Overall the staff was completely unfriendly, I had a woman named Pat servicing us who was rude and condescending. I was asking a simple question that she either didn't know or didn’t care to answer. While walking around another sweet girl was helping me find my size and the store owner came around the corner and snapped at her for no reason. It made me very uncomfortable and was unprofessional. Not to mention everything is completely over priced and can be found cheaper elsewhere, even local shops. Last but not least, they don’t take returns, only store credit and they do not make that well known upfront. I Would recommend any other store but this one for those visiting Portsmouth and for the poor girl who was being harassed at work, everyone else is hiring.

Love this store! I always go in and tell myself I'm just going to browse, but that's impossible... I always find something to buy. Their clothing is seriously the softest/most comfortable and stylish. Seriously half my wardrobe was purchased here. Also the employees are super nice. Definitely a must stop in Portsmouth.

Inside out is a unique boutique store in downtown Portsmouth. My brother and his fiance had a baby 5 months ago and I finally got to meet him in Florida. Of course I had to buy a million adorable outfits for him. Inside Out carries a huge stock of the most precious onsies, lounge pants, shirts, and other clothes for babies and toddler. They had beach and outdoorsy themes that were perfect for what I was looking for. They also carry women's and men's clothes, jewelry, knick knacks, candles and other gifts. It's a great one stop shop for gift buying with super friendly staff. They offered to take my items to the register while I finished shopping. One of my favorite boutiques in town.

I will NOT be returning to this shop and I urge you not to either. I usually love shopping local and supporting small businesses, but this is one store that shouldn’t be supported. Most of the items are of good quality but extremely overpriced and can be found cheaper around town or online. The lighting in the store is so dim that you can’t even see the true color of the items you are looking at, although, the girl working there was nice enough to let me take the shirt I was interested in to the door so I could take a look at it in the daylight. The employees have always been very welcoming and helpful when I come in, but the Shop owner (I believe her name is Pat) is less than charming to say the least. I have spoken with her a couple of times and she was always very short and rude, and did not make me feel welcome in her store. During the height of the corona virus, her COVID safety practices were very underwhelming, and she seemed to care more about getting customers in the door than following her capacity limit or any standard COVID guidelines. She did not make me aware of her return policy (no returns, just store credit) and also seemed to be quite hostile towards her staff which I didn’t like seeing, especially since they have always been quite pleasant to me. Between her overpriced goods and her treatment towards her staff and customers, I think this is one local shopkeeper I am okay not supporting.

My husband and I went into the store on October 10. We had been there the day before and found some items we wanted to purchase as a gift. There was a gentleman that was very helpful but there was a young lady who we believe was the manager that seemed irritated that we were asking questions. Although she complied, she seemed to be annoyed that we were asking questions about size and colors. Prior to our purchase we asked if they could gift wrap the item and they said absolutely. After purchase they made a big deal about just giving the boxes but we requested that they wrap it for us and put the items in the box for us as this was a gift and, as such, would be much easier if they could wrap it for us. Although the gentleman offered to take it in the back and wrap it for us, the young lady grabbed it and ran in the back and threw the clothing in the box without folding them and came out and handed them to us. My husband made a comment that she couldn't even look him in the eye as she handed him the boxes. I'm not sure what we did to make her so irritated with us but I'm not too thrilled with the attitude that she gave us when we were spending a considerable amount of money in her store. There were several items we were thinking about coming back to purchase but after the treatment that we got, we don't really want to give them our service.

Always love popping into this shop when I am downtown Portsmouth. Great cozy clothes that are high quality and popular brands like UGG and Naketano.

Very rude shopkeeper and very overpriced goods that are readily available at almost any of the other similar shops nearby. I’m sorry I wasted time there!!

Like Christine mentioned, I had a similar experience when returning an item. I bought a gift for someone for Christmas and returned items TWICE. Finally, I thought, let me just get my money back and go elsewhere. Little did I know there is no returns whatsoever, only store credit. Patricia never informed me the TWO times I returned something that I wouldn’t get my money back. What the hell am I going to do with store credit??? I don’t even live here, so I can’t come back. Terrible customer service.

If you like nice things, consider buying elsewhere. I purchased a pair of Fidelity denim shorts at this cute shop July 26th as well as some jewelry while on a girl's trip. I tried them on a bit later in the day and came to notice that they were not as flattering for my rear as I initially thought. No big deal, I thought...I'll return them tomorrow. I was wrong. When I went to return them the following evening (never worn, all tags still on, receipt in hand) I was informed that they simply don't do returns, ever, only in store credit. What? This policy was not shared with me at the time of purchase. At the time of my attempted return, I scoured the register area only to spot a very small sign on the wall to the right, amongst much store product, and it was printed at the bottom of the receipt which is irrelevant as the purchase would already have been made. I asked to discuss this with a supervisor or store manager as the very nice store associate said she wasn't authorized to do anything else. The associate attempted to call and text the store manager and was unable to reach him/her to discuss my concern. So, with 10 minutes until my Saturday night dinner reservation I had to scramble about the store to try to find something to exchange for $150.00. I ended up exchanging my shorts for a purse I did not want or need. HAD I PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM FIDELITY DENIM, I COULD HAVE RECEIVED A FULL REFUND. So much for trying to support local, independent boutiques.

Help your customers to support local boutique shops by providing reasonable return policies. You don't have one.
