I originally brought my truck here for coolant loss. They used a CO₂ “sniffer” and immediately told me the head gaskets were blown and that, given the mileage, the only solution was a full engine replacement costing thousands of dollars. I was told their tester was “never wrong.”
I decided to get a second opinion at a Chevrolet dealer. The dealer kept my truck overnight, ran a full diagnostic (pressure test, block test, inspection), and confirmed the issue was not head gaskets. The real problem was just a water pump gasket. They repaired it, retested the system, and now everything holds pressure perfectly.
This shop’s misdiagnosis would have cost me $6,000–$8,000 for an engine I didn’t need. Be very careful and always get a second opinion before agreeing to major repairs here.
Just an update a few weeks later — the cooling system is still holding pressure perfectly after the dealer replaced only a water pump gasket. No signs of coolant loss, no overheating, and no head gasket issues whatsoever. The system remains stable and performing as it should. This confirms that the original diagnosis of a “blown head gasket” was incorrect.

I am not from NH, but I was visiting for a week when the oil life light came on in my car. Called all the auto shops in the area but none were able to squeeze me in before my 9hr drive home - except Auto Advisors! Staff were friendly, efficient, and communicative. They were thorough in checking everything out and made sure my vehicle would get me home safely! Also, the pricing was super fair. Will definitely go back to them if I’m ever in NH and need service again!

Amazing auto shop!! By far best auto shop I have gone to. Staff is exceptionally friendly. I was broken down with a bad alternator. Called 16+ auto shops in the area, all booked 4 weeks. I explained my situation to auto advisor and they took care of me asap. Was in an out within an hour and a half. Could not recommend a better mechanic shop. 100/10 would recommend

Highly recommend!! Over 150 miles away from home with 3 kids, a wife, and two dogs on a Friday afternoon close to closing time !!! SUV barely made it up the hill to Brian and Diane’s shop . They took us all right in and gave the kids coloring books and drinks as Brian diagnosed transmission issues . Long story short …. We were screwed , there were no car rentals with cars available for us so we could have our car towed back home . Brian came up with a solution he believed would last long enough for us to drive back home to cape cod . I’m extremely happy to say that I’m writing this review from my home all possible due to Brian’s quick thinking and knowledge. Brian and Diane treated us strangers like family THANK YOU BOTH . Highly recommended!!!

Small fender bender and called Brian. He immediately brought me in, reattached the muffler that had fallen down and did it all refusing any payment! Saved my vacation and I just wish I lived here and not in Maine so I could have him as my mechanic going forwards! Thank you again Brian!!!
