When we want a delicious home cooked meal we can always count on the Birchwood.Everything that we have ever had on the menu has been delicious my favorite being the pesto pasta with chicken and the Dijon chicken. The service is like no other!Natalie,Wendy And Amy and everyone else that works so hard there do such a fantastic job! Someday I would love to stay over for a girls night just to experience the inn feel!! We truly love this gem of a place and hope they are around for a very long time!!

Staying at the Inn on a Saturday. Asked what time the tavern was open until, after having an early dinner there. We were told "open until 9pm"...Went in at 8:15 for a nightcap, and were told that they were closed because it was slow, while other patrons were still at the bar...it was our 23rd Anniversary.

We all got the surf & turf special to splurge after our Wilton town hall wedding. We’ve been here before and just got apps but this was so good. Cooked perfectly. Flavor was amazing. Does not disappoint.

Called in to book a dinner for a birthday, but whoever was in charge of booking at the restaurant during the call, wrote it down for the wrong day and made a public facebook post saying it was our fault they had to turn away customers. Had to find somewhere else to go for birthday dinner. Cute local place with fantastic food and great servers, didn't have a bad experience here until this happened. Just be careful when booking things with them. Perhaps calling people who made reservations the day before (or a few days) to make sure all the dates and times were written down correctly would help instead of having to turn away customers?

The fish fry was cold and soggy and the swordfish was really good.

Food & drinks: We actually didn't like the food. Risotto looked and tasted more like mashed potato, swordfish was overcooked and became really dry, I have no idea what they did to poor scallops, they were horrible. They don't use anything to drain the fat from the bacon. Instead, they use that fat to make the sauce, at least it tasted like bacon fat. You can do it just if you want to ruin the dish.

I almost never write a negative review, however, this was so bad that I felt compelled to share my experience. The birchwood Inn is a lovely Inn with a charming atmosphere and superb service. The bloody mary drink was exceptional. And that's where the goodness stops. It can lure you in, but our dinner was about the worst I can remember in recent times. The roasted chicken which is on their menu, was so very salty, that we got sick even trying it. We boxed it to take it home, and thought we could doctor it up a bit. We tried and then it went straight to the garbage. I have never done that before. Can you imagine spending about $150 for two people and sending your meal into the garbage ?The other dish was the fried fish platter with soggy onion rings. The breaded coating on the fish tasted like cardboard, so I peeled it off and found the fish overcooked.I am sorry to share this review. The people there are so nice, but they need to know our experience. Awful dishes were served to us. What a shame.

The staff are very friendly and professional. Service is warm and well coordinated. The dining rooms are small, but with good neighbors there's a lovely ambiance.Food & drinks: Wonderfully varied menus including local ingredients and expert seasonings. Consistently good dining.

I am only writing about the restaurant - My husband and I were pleased and impressed with the ambience, the food and the service, and will definitely be back. The waitress, Christina, was working alone and was heroic in her ability to keep up with everybody!

I'm excited to share what a beautiful wonderful experience I had at the Birchwood Inn and Tavern. Upon arriving you are greeted with the most inviting and charming atmosphere. The flowers, front porch and a row of rocking chairs welcomed you to sit and enjoy the view. The staff is super friendly extremely helpful and wonderful to talk with. We stayed in the Cambridge room. Our room was decorated with such detail and attention. I loved all of the pictures that showed the history of the Inn. Your room comes with a lovely welcome basket from coffees, teas, milks creamers and a thoughtful amount of snacks. My favorite was the fresh homemade mini loaf of bread. Delicious. Our room was spacious and clean and perfect for two people. The Inn provides you with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The Tavern just down the stairs was a added bonus for us. The dinners we had were beyond our expectations. Absolutely delicious. Our Sunday brunch which came with our room was amazing. The Cheff is a gem.The owners Amy and Matt really know how to make you feel welcomed and want to come back. Their hospitality shined through from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. We will be coming back. I thank you!!Rooms: Clean and accommodatingFood & drinks: Amazing!
