Beautiful place, great service but looking at the buildings, seems lacking considering the history and age. Hope they keep up the property.

After checking website which said store was open Wednesday through Saturday, we traveled three hours to visit Frye Measure Mill. Sign on road said “ open” so imagine our surprise, after seein cars in the parking lot, that sign on door of building said “open only on Saturday “. Have a problem with businesses that don’t update website and have sign indicating they are open.

Fryes Mill is a beautiful old mill dating back to 1800. A 7 room gift shop contains many treasures! Artisan made products such as hand blown glassware, beautiful works of art, gifts for every occasion and the Mills hallmark shaker and colonial products provide a wonderful shopping experience. It is free to walk the grounds, picnic by the water, view the historic giftshop, blacksmith shop,Carriage shed, and old firetruck house. What beautiful landscape especially during the fall season. There is a $5 self guided tour...well worth the visit!

Regarding the gift shop:A blast from the past! A beautiful historic property! Friendly. Clean. Knowledgeable, helpful staff! All items were labeled and priced fairly.I did not take a tour of the mill, but the grounds were very well kept and absolutely gorgeous! The ambiance was so enticing, it made me want to sit near the creek and listen to the flowing, babbling water.

Lovely property and shop. They decorate the store wonderfully. You can see all the old mill machinery and history while perusing. I got a few old books and wine glasses. The staff is courteous.

I grew up in Wilton and remember taking an elementary school field trip to Frye's, but I hadn't revisited until yesterday. Now I'm disappointed I haven't returned sooner and more often! What a gem...the last operational measure mill in the US, full of various interesting antiques and handmade boxes for sale. The entire space is arranged in such a cozy, pleasing way. We also loved visiting the resident wood sculptor space, seeing the old fire engines and blacksmith shop. We bought a handmade, hand painted recipe box and couldn't be happier with our newest keepsake. We will be back and highly recommend this place to anyone...there's something interesting for all, including a self-guided tour of the mill. This is a must-see piece of New England history!

Fascinating historic mill with large belt-driven old tools. Just as great is the gift store. It does sell Shaker boxes, but they represent just a tiny fraction of the antiques and country gifts for sale. It's the best country gift store we've seen in years.

Oldest wooded oval box and piggen factory that is 'still' running in the country. A great self guided tour and a wonderful old factory where everything, nearly, is made the same way it was over a hundred years ago.
