Adopting Jake (formerly Doxy) from One Step Closer Animal Rescue was a wonderful experience. The staff’s dedication to rescuing animals from kill shelters and matching them with the right families is evident. They were transparent about Jake’s history of abuse, ensuring we were prepared for his needs. The adoption process was thorough, and their care ensured Jake was healthy and ready for his new home. Jake has thrived with us, and I highly recommend O.S.C.A.R. for their passion and commitment to animal welfare.

I adopted my dog Lenny from OSCAR a few months ago. Both Debbie and Alex made the process so easy and I could tell that the welfare of the animals is their top priority. Lenny is absolutely perfect and it is a match made in heaven. It is a credit to OSCAR that their staff and volunteers represent the animals accurately, advocate for them and create the kind of advertising and content that will get the right kind of exposure so that they have the best chance of finding a forever home. Lenny was obviously loved and cared for while he was there and it made the transition so much easier. I will be forever grateful to OSCAR for everything that they do for dogs like Lenny and all the other animals in need.

My wife and I were lost when our son moved out with the family dogs. One month of missing out for babies my wife reached out to OSCAR. A few days later we were good to find our new love. We meet 2 other dogs first but the third one “Ace” seemed to be the one. An hour later adoption was done! Along with Ace came a pile of dog goodies. The process was easy and perfect. Rescue a dog and they’ll rescue you.

OSCAR is a great place to adopt a dog. Everyone was so warm and friendly! You could tell they all love what they do and they truly care for these precious pups. We saw a couple of puppies and fell in love with our new addition. I loved how they put you in a visiting room and bring the dogs in individually. This was great and less stressful than walking through a room of barking pups in cages (our previous experience). We are so grateful to One Step Closer Animal Rescue for letting us adopt Noodle (previously Lil Bit). She has already brought so much love and joy to our family!

Many thanks to the wonderful people of OSCAR. We recently adopted a sweet dachshund mix by the name of Mr. Weenie and we could not be happier with the process. From the initial puppy post to the day we brought him home, they were helpful, accommodating and very knowledgeable. You can really tell that they are truly committed to their cause. We are so appreciative that they brought us together with our furry little blessing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to give an animal their forever home!

Amazing rescue with loving, knowledgeable, and selflessly devoted volunteers who are wholeheartedly invested in finding the best fit for adoptee and adopter. Their mission is not to just find “a home” for their adoptees, but to find the best fit home where the adoptee will be loved and will feel comfortable to give love. We recently adopted a beautiful, exceptionally sweet, husky/lab (Natasha), who is just filling our hearts and home with joy! OSCAR was fantastic throughout the process. They knew Natasha so well and were very forthcoming about her individual needs (severe separation anxiety), their understanding of what would be required in order for her to thrive, and took the time to ensure we understood and were comfortable with, and committed to, supporting her. What’s most amazing, for me, is that they remain invested and available to provide support, suggestions, and answers questions at any time. They genuinely love to hear how their adoptees and adopters are doing and are always available should anything be needed. Thank you, OSCAR, for all that you do and for sharing such an exceptionally sweet girl with us!

We rescued a puppy out of a bakers dozen litter almost two years ago. His name was Pepe, it has since been changed but he is the happiest puppy, now adult that we’ve ever had. He was obviously cared for very well at the rescue, and the place was unbelievably clean. You can tell how much they care for their animals. Thank you guys for bringing this beautiful boy into my life!!

Process was efficient and smooth from start to finish. Most obvious, was the dedication and warmth of all staff members. Puppy was clean, healthy and well-trained for a 4 month old.
We left with a generous supply of food, equipment, paperwork and instructions.
OSCAR runs like a Swiss watch.
