This is old, but relevant since they are still in business. Security Moving and Storage was a moving company from hell. A person came to my home and gave me what I thought was a reliable estimate, so I chose them for my move from NY to FL in July of 2007. The morning of my move, several Russian speaking men showed up, looked around and told me the estimate was wrong and it would cost double. I was shocked. Since I had to leave my home and was on a time schedule, I decided to leave much of my furniture behind to reduce the cost of the move. They explained that all my stuff would be put in a temporary truck and taken to a location to pack it properly in a much larger truck with other people's furnishings going to FL. I was very upset, but agreed to leave behind some heavy furniture to reduce the cost. They promised to crate my motorcycle and securely wrap my furniture in the next truck. At the weigh station I was told that it would still cost more than double. The owner agreed on a price after I told them to bring it all back. They called my when they reached NJ and told me they were holding my stuff hostage and I would pay full price in cash in FL or never see my stuff again. They would not open the truck in FL until I gave them the cash they insisted on. All my stuff was damaged and piled haphazardly with the heavy stuff on top. My motorcycle was not crated and was damaged. All my furniture was damaged. Items that meant so much to me where gone. I had pictures of the truck when he opened it and all the damage done. Their insurance I took out would only pay pennies on the pound and I would be required to release the damaged items back to them. What a waste of insurance money. They took advantage of a single young woman moving on her own across the county. Shame on them. The whole experience made me sick. Although I wanted to fight it, I was in mourning, and it was healthier to just release the stress of the move at the time. These guys are crooks. Do not trust them with your possessions. They should have been arrested, but I felt like I was dealing with a crime family and feared for my safety. Just checked today as I am getting rid of the old pictures and documents. I was hoping to find they were out of business. Hope they did hurt more people like they did me.

Amazing! So so so happy with this whole experience! It couldn't have been easier and more efficient! Everything arrived safely and completely unharmed, and they went above and beyond to accommodate me! All such nice guys! Can't say enough about how great this company is!

Even before the move, customer service and helpfulness was super! They were pleasant, respectful, organized and positive on the phone which was a good sign.

Really great experience with Security Moving. We overestimated our ability to self pack and they came to the rescue. Crew busted their butts on a humid 100F day and got us on the road in no time. Â Everything was really well protected and they took great care of it all. They also helped me find a storage.

Great experience. The operations team was very responsive and able to adapt when there were communication issues with my previous building's management. I also appreciated the affordability of the overnight storage and flexibility of timing my moves to fit the tight schedules of doorman buildings. The movers themselves were very friendly and professional.

Onsite manger did not take the time to listen to me and hung up on me 3 times. Staff is very rude.

Mixed feelings about these guys. They do decent job, but they screw you on the price. We had prepacked pretty much everything. They told us that they will be using their packing materials to pack whatever they think is necessary. I haven't even thought of asking the cost of these materials. Ended up paying $700 for boxes, packing tape and shrink wrap. I was stunned to find out that they charge $9 per regular box, some insane amount for the tape and shrink wrap too. When I tried to argue - the main guy (Sergey) told me that he is aware of this but it's not his problem. He blamed his boss for setting up the ridiculous prices. To add to the insult, they hid our new TV in their truck and unloaded it only after we paid the bill. Ridiculous! At the end of the day, we paid twice as much as was initially quoted to us. I moved at 3 times before and haven't had such a crappy experience...Next time I'll look elsewhere.

These crooks go by a number of different names - when I hired them they were UNITED GROUP MOVING & STORAGE and I've heard that they've changed names a few more times. No matter what they call themselves, they are the most unprofessional movers I have ever used - thieves and crooks. They broke furniture, stole items (although they claimed they were "lost"), and refused to honor contracted prices. When I complained they told me to come to Bayonne and pick up my stuff if I didn't like the price or "new" delivery date.

My darling husband forgot (he's probably still traumatized) about how they put all the heavy basement boxes in the bedroom and all the bedroom / kitchen / etc., in the basement (EVEN THOUGH we went through the trouble to clearly label every single one on the top of the box and on two of the sides!). So we had to re-move a LOT of stuff. Oh, and they took very frequent smoke breaks!

We moved our furniture and belongings from a house Staten Island to a three-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, and we didn't have a good experience with Security. They showed up more than an hour early - which I suppose is better than showing up late, but we still had some last-minute packing to do, and so it made things a little chaotic. But that was a minor issue. The big issue was the use of and charges for packing materials. The quote originally e-mailed to us said that only 15 boxes were included for free and that other packing materials would have a charge. But when we started considering other movers, we received a subsequent e-mail from "Alex" which said that all the packing materials we would need that day would be included in the original quote. When I was handed the bill, that was not the case. There were nearly $200 in charges for packing materials. Now I know why the movers went absolutely nuts with the bubble wrap. I swear they were bubble-wrapping smaller pieces of bubble-wrap. And they boxed things that didn't need to be boxed and excessively taped (and retaped) everything. I argued with the lead mover over the packing charges to no avail. Because of the conflicting info that we were provided, I decided to pay for the packing materials then and then discuss the packing charges with Alex later. That was really dumb on my part. Alex never responded to repeated calls and e-mails over the next two weeks. And after all this, the movers had the gall to ask for a larger tip. That was the capper. To the movers' credit, they did good work . Everything was moved in a reasonable amount of time, and nothing was damaged. But the deception, superfluous packing and packing charges, and the insult of being questioned about the tip (after $200 in unexpected extra charges) made this a very lousy experience. Avoid Security.
