About Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bayonne, NJ, is a part of the New Jersey Protopresbytery of Archeparchy of Philadelphia. The Parish was established by emigrants from Galicia (The western region of Ukraine) in 1916. The first church was blessed on September 2, 1918. In December 1921, His Excellency, Metropolitan Andrew Sheptytsky, OSBM of Lviv, visited the parish. The Parish has a long, inspiring history and story of faithful people who put in so much hard work and effort to make this place comfortable to worship and be happy.
