The Van was nice to Rent But they charged me extra because I drop the van off ten mins late also extra fee because someone else help me drive the van back for drop off too.I won’t be doing service with them anymore. And you have to use your own auto insurance since they claim they don’t have insurance when renting vehicles

The worst place to rent a car. They had hold the deposit. And I called my bank the bank said if the rental car do not realese the deposit. They could not do nothing. Horrible service!

Dishonest, disgraceful and aggressive. We brought our kids to America on holiday from Ireland and rented an 8 seater van for 1 month and 2 weeks. The children were excited as three of them are disabled and this was their first trip to the States. We had received a written quotation that charged 4.99% ($164.67) for a "Vehicle License Fee." I called (nearly a week before my rental was due to expire) to extend the rental for 1 additional week (due to covid) and was told by one of the owners (Paul) that it was "no problem" and that "you can do so at the same weekly price." When I returned the van I discovered that not only had the daily price increased 70% for the extra days, but the "Vehicle License Fee" for the entire rental had increased from 4.99% ($164.67) to 13.99% ($574.98). When I questioned why this fee had increased so dramatically, I was told by another owner (Salena) that it was a "software glitch" due to me extending the contract another week and "could not be fixed." The system supposedly could not issue me with a refund. Huh? Paul also "discovered" a "new" microchip on the windscreen that he assured me was minor and not to worry about it. He said that he could get it fixed for $100. A week later, I was suddenly billed (without warning) nearly $1,100 for a brand new windscreen. When I asked for proof that the work had actually been carried out, Paul could not provide any documentation. In fact, he grew belligerent and aggressive. Gone was the "nice guy" image that I first encountered and the real Paul came out. He actually threatened to call the police because I was allegedly "blackmailing" him by email when I suggested I might have to dispute the charge with my credit card provider. Please support small local businesses, but stay far, far away from *In*sensible Car & Truck rental as they don't have your best interests at heart. I have uploaded a copy of both my original online quote and the actual rental agreement to show the original 4.99% Vehicle License Fee and a copy of the agreement they handed me when I returned the vehicle which shows a 13.99% Vehicle License Fee. Reprehensible people with no moral compass of any kind.

The only reason I'm giving them 1 star is you warn you for these ridiculous practices on rentals. This is the reason why the review score is only 2.4 and not all 5 stars. I tried to rent a 15 passenger van to take all the neighborhood kids to the skating ring on a outing on a Saturday and return the van on Sunday. I only needed the rental for one day. The gentleman on the phone told me that 15 passenger Vans has a min rental of two days. THEY HAVE SUNDAY HOURS LISTED ON THE WEBSITE a new fleet of new Vans. Why should I have to pay an extra day when your clearly open. It's not like I'm preventing someone from getting a van. I knew from previous reviews and the Many negative remarks about this establishment. Please go to a real car rental place like Enterprise, Hertz, Avis they give you unlimited miles. I tried to support the small local business but with policies like this no wonder the reviews are horrible. RUN!!!! You've been warned! Don't call after hours like 6pm an angry man will say take it or leave it! LEAVE IT! Get some free coupon code online And do your rental from a professional.

Please stay away from this place. They are fraud. I booked 15 passengers van 20 days prior and the office calls me a day before to confirm it. But then I get a call on the day of to let me know they don't have any vans available.

Went to return a car 3 minutes after the hour. They screamed at me and told me I had to keep it for the weekend. On top of that they wouldn't give me my deposit back. This was a couple years ago, I have no idea how they are still in business. They'll steal your money and treat you like garbage. Go somewhere else.

This company is the worse, poor customer service and they are scammers. Advertise $30 per day on truck, plus mileage, they charged me $125 for the day. I drove it from Bayonne to Ridgefield and back to BayonneDON'T USE THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL SCAM YOU ALSO.THEY HAVE ALOT OF BAD REVIEWS

My family would like to thank Sensible Car Rental for giving my niece the opportunity to rent a car during a family crisis, when no other rental would allow with a debit card... Thank you for the truth and we all are grateful for your service and she also stated the car was great on gas and the staff was amazing. We so thankful. Extremely satisfied with Sensible Car & Truck Rental! Very nice people, reasonable prices and quick and efficient business people.I booked a Uhaul for my move this past weekend . After a lot of back and forth with them about not having a truck (even though I booked it a month prior), I showed up to Uhaul the morning of my move and no one was even in the shop and the door was locked during their “open” hours. Luckily, Sensible was directly next door and had a truck available. They quickly helped us out and we were out the door in ten minutes and on our way.Give the local guy your business. The last thing we needed on moving day was the stress that Uhaul gave us. Sensible Car Rental deserves 5 stars all the way!

This place was so informative and the staff is so nice giving what you need and trusting strangers using their cars... They work with you the best way possible. I would like to thank them all for working out a rental car for the weekend and was very fair with pricing... I believe most negative reviews because if you damage or not return the vehicle in good condition as it was given, they will deduct from your deposit.. This the only place that will allow you to use your debit card and all others need a major card.. Im so grateful for them allowing us to rent with a major card and using their ez pass and not taking advantage of their services.. We will get deposit back soon as they check the amount of us of ez pass....once again I would like to thank Sensible Rental in Bayonne NJ thank you and it was a pleasure doing business with you??

I use this company some times multiple times a month. They are incredibly helpful. I have never had any surprises. The price is the price and if you get stuck on the road (which I have), they are completely reachable. Professional and courteous, EVERY TIME.

Don't ever go in this place to rent a car.They love taking your money. It's been 6 months now since they took my $350 deposit and until now they haven't returned yet ro my account. The guy said 6-9 mos so I ask for paper proof and I'll wait but he can't give me any proof. I wanna sue them not because of the money but because they're scammers. Maybe they need my $350 to keep their business going.
