I have never experienced such terrible service anywhere in the United States. On July 3rd, my birthday, my wife — who is eight months pregnant — and I stopped at the SHELL gas station in Belmar, New Jersey before heading out from home on a trip. I asked the attendant for “full regular, cash.” He asked, “How much?”, and I explained that the tank was about 3/4 full and estimated around $20. I handed him the money and went into the store. When I returned, the pump had stopped at $14. I waited for about two minutes, but the attendant walked by several times, ignoring my attempts to get his attention. Eventually, I removed the nozzle myself, closed the gas cap, and waited for the receipt.
When he finally came over, he began raising his voice, saying I had no right to touch the nozzle. I apologized and explained that we were in a hurry and simply wanted to finish up, but he continued aggressively repeating that “according to protocol” I wasn’t allowed to touch anything and that I was holding up the line. At that point, my wife stepped in — the attendant’s behavior had become completely unacceptable. He was shouting, not allowing us to speak, and acting with open hostility. She calmly asked if there was a manager or someone responsible on-site. He replied that the manager was in New York, there was no one in charge at the station, and that we would not receive a receipt or change, and he would not call anyone.
Then something absolutely outrageous happened. He shouted aggressively, “What language are you speaking? What language are you two speaking to each other in?!” We told him we were only speaking English with him. He then shouted one last time, “There is no manager, you’re holding up the line — get out of here!” and walked off, still swearing loudly.
This behavior is completely unacceptable. The employee not only refused to provide proper service but also shouted, acted aggressively, and made xenophobic remarks. If Shell trains employees on how to insert the nozzle “according to protocol,” why is there no training on basic customer service and respectful behavior? My wife and I are still shocked by the incident and are considering filing a formal complaint. This review is just the first step.

I work around the corner from here and come here relatively often. I have never had a pleasant encounter with any of the attendants. One man that is there in evenings is the one to normally help me, I definitely wouldn’t describe him as kind, but whatever. I went there today though and there was a man I had never seen. He was incredibly rude and has left a terrible impression on me. If you hate your job, that’s on you my guy, don’t project that on your customers. I don’t plan on coming back and will be taking my business down the street.

I don't no why what kind of attitude they have. Whenever I come here they are such rude and arrogant, more rude are gas pumps guys. Don't want to work don't work but don't show your nasty attitude to paying customers. I think all 7 eleven employees and owners are same. Nasty 🤮🤮

The people that work in this gas station are the rudest people I have ever encountered. If you just need gas, I guess it’s OK but if you have any other question, good luck, I will never ever go back there again.

I just put gas here and they charged me $175.00, I try to get my money back but they said they don’t know about that… so I had to call the police. Don’t come to this kind of gas station.

Over charged my son’s credit card. When questioned they refused to help and only gave me the phone number to a number that no one answers. Beware they are thieves.

My card got charged 91.02
I asked the guy and he said I will get that back in 24hrs. I still don't see my money.

The bigger gentleman in the morning the was very helpful not only was he polite and friendly but after I got my gas I ended up with a flat and he took the time to help me change my tire even when I offered him a tip he wouldn't accept it I will always come back to enjoy service like this
