Berkeley Heights Animal Hospital is always available to help whenever I call. I love the pleasant staff and the way my pet is taken care of.

We love Berkeley Heights Animal Hospital. My 7 year old beagle is usually is very fearful of vets and groomers (doesn’t even want to go in the door!) but she runs right in and is super happy to see her vet Dr. Seltzer, tail wagging! Dr. Seltzer is patient and knowledgeable and just provides the best care and advice. The entire staff is so friendly! We won’t go anywhere else! Thank you BHAH!

When Dr. Marmur sold and the new guy took over the prices went up and it became more “corporate” and “business is business”. Then a few years back my parents’ cat needed a procedure involving anesthesia. They gave her extra anesthesia, enough for a small dog, and almost killed her. We thought she had brain damage. It was horrifying and so sad and traumatizing. She was simply dangerously over sedated. It was extremely irresponsible and unsafe.I since started using another vet for my cat, have moved and found yet another, and isn’t it interesting that in over 5 years the fecal sample I always had to pay for and provide every single appointment in Berkeley Heights has never been mandatory, let alone requested? It’s not necessary. I never knew that. Veterinary pricing is already extremely predatory. How sad that they have to take it this far, misleading people into paying for unnecessary tests at every yearly check up? None of the poops (cats are indoor fyi) we gave them at yearly wellness exams ever resulted in anything relevant. Imagine all the money they’ve made?I also was finally able to get my cat diagnosed with Feline Asthma at City By The Sea vet in Asbury Park. I brought him to Berkeley heights for this, and showed videos over years, and asked questions about “stuck hairballs”. Two separate doctors there told me he was fine. The moment I brought this up at City By The Sea, the mere description let them know it was asthma. A simple Xray confirmed. For years my cat has been having untreated asthma attacks because this office is too inexperienced to diagnose and recognize it. The doctor who diagnosed him graduated within the last 5 years. My cat also had chronic stool issues and it turns out there is an OTC probiotic that helps. Why didn’t anyone tell me?I am very unimpressed and had a very poor experience with this vet. Both pets have had their lives jeopardized by simply poor medical care. I suggest going elsewhere. I used them for years before any of this came to fruition and only stopped when their negligence almost killed our pet. I’m glad I’ve been other places to learn better.

After stewing on my feelings for quite a while I feel compelled to let others know of the worst experience I have ever had at a vet. We had used this vet for many years but never for an end of life euthanasia. Our cat was diagnosed, by Dr. Marmur, with end stage kidney failure even though his last physical blood work from 5 months ago had been supposedly okay. Was something missed or not correctly diagnosed? Dr Marmur could not believe the cat was still living with the levels he showed and we were told to be prepared to tell the kids regarding a life ending decision. We tried our best to keep the cat comfortable with IV's (we had to poke into his neck with a needle) at home as this was all the medication that was suggested along with a pain med. After a couple weeks we felt the cat was truly suffering and decided it was time to peacefully and humanely end his life. We brought him to the office and our cat was put on the table. No sedative was given and Dr. Marmur, after shaving the cat, began poking our poor cat with a needle looking for a vein for the life ending fluid. Unfortunately, the last time the cat was at the vet they had bungled the bloodwork (more tests) and did not take enough blood so our cat had to return for another poke for blood a few days later. Dr Marmur, said he could not go back to the same vein but both paws were already used for blood and the options were tougher. He attempted the paws anyhow to no avail. Meanwhile, the cat, who was always so mellow, was yelping and meowing in pain. It became so inhumane that I stepped out while he was poking away and I asked to be be brought back when he was set and I could spend my last minutes with our cat before he passed. Outside the door I heard violent meows and even the receptionist cringed. I assumed it was incredibly painful for our poor non sedated cat. What we had wished to be a peaceful, humane ending for a very sick cat became a very painful, inhumane experience. I trusted the doctor knew what he was doing but I was dead wrong and have regretted my decision to this day. I was brought back into the room and our cat was very still, as the fluid flushed into his vein. I did not even know if he had already passed. I should have pulled the cat from the procedure but my options were limited in an emotional situation. I had put faith in the doctor, a massive error. After our cat passed Dr. Marmur left the room after shutting the cat's eyes and said, "sorry". Needless to say we have found a new vet for our other animals.

Vaccines were frozen, and they charged me an exorbitant amount for stuff we didn’t get. They also "forgot" core vaccinations for my puppy. I will never go there again and would never recommend them!!!

I brought my cat as a new patient and was told new patient's are given the 1st appointment free. I was bringing her for assessment to get a shot for symptoms of sneezing and a stuffed nose. They made up for the free visit by charging me 100.00 for the shot. They gave her .3ml of the shot based upon her weight - saying that it was 100.00 per ml. First issue was that I should not have been charged 100.00 for a shot that was under 1ml. Dr. Murmur, who has many years of experience, may need to retire at some point. Every single sentence spoken to him at the appointment had to be repeated, his attention span was compromised, he was hard of hearing and his assitant kept having to repeat everything we were discussing. My concern about the the price of the shot which was brought to the office manager's attention was evaded. She did not address or answer my reasonable question about the price accoridng to the amount. I called three days later asking to speak to the doctor about symptoms my cat was experiecing after the injection. I called them first thing in the morning and by 4pm he had not called me back. I called back asking when I might hear from him and was told that he had no intentions of calling me back because I called him "old." I never called him old, I voiced my concern "to the assistant" and office manager that he may be near "retirement" because of the difficulty in communications that I experineced with him, I said it with concern but respectfully. Some girl in a disrepsetufl tone told me to go somewhere else on this day that I called asking to speak to him. They had no concern whatsoever about my pet, they didn't even know yet the subject of my call. There was no ethics, no accountablility on their part to even inquire as to what I was calling about which they didn't even know yet because I had been waiting for the call that never came. I was completely in shock that they could just redefine my words with impunity, not even thinking twice about it, and no accountablility on the doctor's part to even address the reason for my call. The disrepecrful office girl just said "we all heard you." What they heard was my concern that he was coming across as near retirement. They changed my words. Someone with authority - not the girl with the disrepsetufl cluessless disposition should have responded to my call. Unless Dr. Murmur is very familiar with your pet I would not reccomend going to him for the first time. He and his staff have demonstrated the utmost of disrepect and intended manipulation of facts. They will be reported to the appropriate authorities governing their business and their lack of ethics and concern for my pet after having just treated her. This was an appalling experieince. Do not go to this place, they are out of line and dishonest.

I just brought our 8 year old Golden Retriever, Kilala, for her yearly exam yesterday to see Dr Seltzer. Kilala actually likes going there. The staff and vet techs are so polite, kind, and love their patients. Dr Seltzer is terrific and listens to you and doesn’t rush your dog’s exam and answers all of your questions. She also was kind to perform minor surgery while we were there rather than us having to schedule another appointment. All of the vets in this practice have been very good in the 8 yrs we have been going there. I miss the original office staff that knew us, but we will surely be happy with the new staff.

I recently took my cat to BHAH because his previous vet unfortunately closed his office due to health issues. We only went for a checkup and everything went smoothly. Everyone was friendly at the office, and we'll bring our other cat here for her checkup in a few months.

I loved my vet in Philadelphia and had a very difficult time finding a vet in this area. I tried Madison Animal Hospital, Vet Center of Morris County and Murray Hill. I have found Berkley Heights Animal Hospital is BY FAR the best! It is not a large machine churning through patients. The staff is very attentive and conscientious. I always have my calls returned in a timely manner and thoroughly answered. Kathleen has been especially helpful with a recent situation involving my dog that was quite complicated. Dr. Murmur instilled confidence immediately and explains medical diagnosis so they are easily understood. If I call and they have to place me on hold, they always ask if it is an emergency first and are very apologetic that I had to hold. I just can’t say enough great things about the care received during routine check-ups and especially in emergency situations and complicated medical diagnosis. This is the vet you want! Care wise for owner and pet.

Has been to this Vet for more than 2 years now as it's the closest one to my home. Sadly, the more I interact with them, the more I found that they couldn't care less about their patients. Today I tried to call and ask for new medication recommendation for my pet's ongoing situation. The lady who answered my call couldn't sound more indifferent, and did not seem to care about my requests. They simply refuse to accommodate reasonable requests from a loyal customer. Very disappointed, looking for a new vet now!

Zero Zero Star! Be aware! We chose this hospital according to the very good google reviews. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. We need a certified vet to apply for the health certificate for my dog, and we took all the tests needed. But they made us take a very expensive test for two times just for getting money. And even worse, they could not provide any report and lied for everything for covering up the first lie. Finally we spent almost $2000 and could not bring our dog traveling with us and had to get a friend to take care of her. My kids are so so so sad, and they couldn't believe this happened here! One policeman asked them to send the report to us before we leave New Jersey, but they still didn't send it to us. We had been lived in Berkeley Heights for almost 10 years, and feels so sorry to have this terrible animal hospital in this nice town.

I had a great experience with my cat at BHAH just yesterday! They got me in super quick for a new patient appointment and I didn’t wait long when I got there. They were so helpful, so nice to my cat and they got her the prescription food she needed, best part is it was a fair amount less than any of the stores! Highly recommend taking your animals here!
