April 2024 by Oniel O
The gym is nice, the music is pleasant and the moderate sound makes it feel comfortable to work. What I do not understand are 2 charges that have been made over the course of 23 consecutive days, such as "1 Rate Guarantee FeeAnnual" for $52.25 dated (02-14-2024) and the other for $59.34 dated (08-03-2024). I really do not have written knowledge of what extra service they are charging. My registration was made on (02-01-2024 ), I understand the registration fee, first month's fee, plus taxes, which were ($82.09), I understand the monthly membership fee of ($29.84) dated (01-31-2024), but the last 2 fees consecutive I don't understand. And right now the monthly payment corresponding to the month of April will be collected. If someone can explain this.

Where humanity is lost in a contract.I was signed up for a membership, I used the gym almost every day, loved it. Then tragedy hit my family, my dad went to jail and I became the sole care giver to my 4 siblings. Money was stretched thin, I was hiring attorneys, life became a hurricane. I couldn’t afford the membership nor have the time to get to the gym. I was barely sleeping 4 hours a night. I called to cancel my membership. The overweight manager is who I spoke with. He literally laughed at my plight. And his response to my struggles? “I don’t see how you can’t afford a few dollars a day. And don’t tell me you don’t have even a spare 30 minutes in your day come on.” I was almost losing my mind from the stress of what hit me, experiencing hallucinations. This was like a blow while I was down. So I canceled my card. The manager then submitted a claim against me, I would end up lumping this into my bankruptcy not a year later. One of the most disgusting human beings I’ve ever met.

Honestly the best gym I’ve ever been a part of, the staff is incredible and friendly and the crowd of members is really awesome. It genuinely feels like you’re among friends there and it’s a really comfortable place to work out. 10/10

I was apprehensive about going after work (crowded). However, there is enough equipment for use.

It’s fine. I’ve never had a membership with Retro before, but my first impressions of this location are 1) staff is friendly and helpful 2) the layout is cramped and chaotic— I got a quick “tour” my first day of “upper body machines here” and “lower body machines there” but it still doesn’t make sense to me 3) there aren’t enough smaller weights for beginners like myself 4) most of the machine are pretty old and run down and 5) not enough floor space— there’s nowhere to stretch comfortably. I ended up getting a membership here because of proximity. I can squeeze in a quick workout during my lunch breaks being only 5 minutes away versus the other big franchise gyms I actually prefer that are 15-20+ minutes away. It’d also be incredibly great if the hours were expanded to 5am-10pm (the next closest Retro is open until 10pm!). Opening at 6 and closing at 9 is a real disappointment. I’m paying for a full price membership for less availability. Today, I had 5 minutes left in my workout and I had no warning; the lights were turned out on me at 9pm. I’d give a better rating if this was the only thing changed!

The front desk workers are great always great you with a smile… BUT the room in the back’s air has been broken for over a month. Why do we pay membership and then maintenance dues IF something like the air in the middle of August doesn’t work ??

The greatest staff at the front desk. Lost my towel and called to see if anyone saw it. A kind staff found it, he washed, dried and folded it. And he gave it to me at 6am when I came in. No act of kindness goes unnoticed. Jeff livingston

the workers at the front desk are all great people. It’s the management that is the problem - $2 for a cup of ice? ridiculousThis is a gym where people pay for memberships as well as other items including shakes and merch. The least an established gym can do is not charge for a simple cup of ice.
