Stokes State Forest is a hidden gem, often overshadowed by nearby High Point State Park. It offers a quieter and less crowded experience, making it ideal for camping, walking, and hiking. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained roads and spotless trails, which provide a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy nature. The forest features unique trails, including the remarkable Sunrise Mountain trail, and showcases stunning cliffs that enhance its beauty. The staff at Stokes are noted for their professionalism and courtesy, contributing to a friendly environment for families and pets. The clean and well-kept campsites add to the appeal, although visitors are reminded to maintain cleanliness in shared facilities. Cell reception is generally good, and using a navigation app like Avenza is recommended for easier trail navigation. Many guests cherish their memories at Stokes State Forest, with some returning after decades to share the experience with their children. While the lake is no longer open, updates within the park have been well-received. Overall, Stokes State Forest is a wonderful destination for nature lovers seeking tranquility and adventure in the great outdoors.

I love this place! It has so many unique trails, and it is quiet and peaceful. The Sunrise Mountain trail was epic, and the pavilion was well built. The sheer cliffs make this place truly spectacular.
