My husband and I made a detour to the Crab Shack on our way to New York. We wanted to find a fresh Lobster roll before we left town. This place is an absolute gem! We started with the crab gumbo and the clam chowder, you could definitely tell they were homemade. The owner was very helpful with my gluten allergy too. We ordered the cold lobster roll and the hot one to try both. They were both amazing, the lobster was fresh, tender and well seasoned.Everything was perfect, highly recommend! :)

We have been coming here, every year, for the last 15 years. It's our favorite spot on the island! The food is absolutely phenomenal and always fresh!! Pete and his family are always so kind and hospitable. If your by AC make sure to go the extra few miles and hit up crab shack!

The crab shack NEVER fails me. Highly recommend the tuna sandwich, it’ll blow your mind. Great staff, always presenting with a smile.

It’s OK. Fried oyster and Soft Shell crab sandwiches looked and tasted identical. Nothing special. Kids liked the lobster rolls. Pretty pricey. Nice to sit outside in the back patio area.

Suprised that they charged more for broiled food than fried food, same food!? Food is good but side of vegetables was a half piece of corn on the cob!? Really not even a whole piece!? $3.00 charge if you use credit card, like lots of places now. Cash is king!!

The seating outside is beach-y, not fancy, have to walk on stone gravel close around other tables (ie. Not disability friendly). Warning below!PARENTS: The crab marinara with pasta has 3 WHOLE hardshell crabs coated IN red sauce. My husband ordered the food with our 2 kids standing there, and no one thought to mention this detail (like “hey this is a difficult meal to eat”). We were happy to wait the 30mins. When the food arrived, I saw the WHOLE crabs in red sauce and had to go ask for crab crackers (which she said people don’t bring them back, so I guess I understand why they don’t offer them… but other guests nearby thought there weren’t any available). So I had to put my hands in the hot marinara sauce to get the crab out and crack off the shells. Extremely disgusting. No wipes are provided. Thankfully there’s a port-a potty outside with a small sink inside. UghADDITIONALLY by the door, they have a barrel decoration (looking like a ship barrel, with red paint dripping, sign says something like “unattended children will be made into shark bait”.) Kids are curious and if (like mine) they open the barrel inside they will be met with a disgusting evil little baby creature doll, very disturbing. (I was grateful the owner took a minute to talk to my husband when he said something about it.) (August 2023)

This place has been around a while. They currently have sit-down service part of the year (off-season), but it's a takeout joint in summer. Since the pandemic I've only done takeout so here are my thoughts: Pros: The quality of seafood is very good, at the moment they make my favorite crab cake. Lobster roll is tasty. Cons: Their prices have skyrocketed in the last year or so (whose haven't I guess). This wouldn't be a problem except for the amount you get is small and the quality of the sides is frankly abysmal. The corn on the cob had zero flavor (likely frozen), which is a crime in the heart of summer in south Jersey (hello? Jersey sweet corn is everywhere). The coleslaw is minuscule and nothing to write home about. If you are primarily a TAKEOUT business in summer then make it worth my while please. Especially if you're charging $25 per dinner. TLDR: Some items are well done, but overall quality of sides and price loses major points.

We eat here frequently and absolutely love everything we get. The fish is always cooked to absolute perfection. We love the seasoning on the fish and chips, and the fried flounder. The Mahi and the halibut are other favorites! Crab cakes, broiled or fried, the crab balls, the shrimp, it has all been delicious! The staff is working hard but always friendly and helpful. It's such a cute little place, with no frills, just great seafood. We have brought drinks and eaten outside in the fresh air, or just ordered and eaten at home. We are so spoiled to have such fresh fish right here, cooked to perfection!

Ordered 16 crab cakes for my party of 8 and the guy in the room next door was like "somebody say crab cakes? How many you want, I'm making em fresh". Dude gave me the nod 7 mins later and I snatched them up, threw em on the grill within 4 minutes and nailed the cook. Everyone was complimenting the cakes, no condiments needed. 5/5

Orders not accurate. 25 mins after assigned time for a pickup order. Ran out of standard items like soft shell crabs. Items all incorrect or missing ingredients. Soggy or overcooked for every piece. Keep scrolling and find something else.

I went to buy items at this establishment and the store next door. After I parked I realized that I had forgotten my wallet. I searched around my car to see if I had any extra money anywhere and the owner proceeded to harass me. He called me a liar and threatened that he was recording me. Recording for what? I'm trying to buy things from you and that's how you treat customers? No wonder the parking lot was empty during primetime on a Saturday!

While it was clean, the prices were a big rip off. Sea scallops $34.99lb. 5 miles down the road they were $17.97lb. The associate told me that he was the only sea food spot in town.
