Edit: just had another bad experience. I counted my items to make sure that I didn’t have too many for the 20 and under self check out and the guy that’s working there had the nerve to count my items and then ask his coworker “what do you think? Does she have too many?”…so awkward! Please train your staff and consider keeping few areas for Over 20 because people were really uncomfortable being told to move.I’m really considering going elsewhere because who needs it?We have been coming to the store for years, and it was great that they made renovations a few years ago. For as long as I can remember, the self check out has been for anyone who wants to use it. Since your store does not have a hand scanner like most other stores, including Stop n Shop, we like to do self check out because we can keep track of what we’re spending as we’re checking out. It’s also convenient. I haven’t stood in a regular linein several years now. Some young employee came up to us today and actually startled me because I didn’t see her. She was trying to get us to move out of the shopping lane (away from the register we were at) and told us it’s now only for people with 20 items or less (note there was no one else there). After I told her I’ve been shopping this way for years, she said “I’ll let it go this time.” Groceries are expensive and since you haven’t kept up with the times to provide hand scanners, you have to give your customers options. It’s very difficult for me to wait in a long crowded regular line with my five-year-old son and my legally blind husband who can’t see in front of him. I can suggest that you have some of the registers for more than 20 items, otherwise we will probably be going somewhere else. You can also teach your staff how to approach customers in a better way.

Everyone, please check your receipts to ensure you are getting charged correctly. Too many times that what they advertised is not what they charge. Deceptive practices. It has happened too many times.

This is a smaller store that I shop while visiting family in the area. The layout is not the best but be careful of incorrect pricing. I have had to go, more than once, to customer service because an item rings up more than the price posted. I registered a complaint online with the store once but the other day I had to wait at customer service while an employee went to proof check my item. Once is a mistake, twice is suspicious but three times is just sloppy.

They have everything I need from a grocery store. Although I don't have a wide range of needs. It is usually not too crowded.

Self-checkout in Chatham is much better than Bernardsville where I work because of placing and removing items in bagging area and then we have to call the staff for help to clear the message.- Catherine Corrado

Best place in Chatham- Madison area to shop. Great selection, high quality meats, veggies, and fruits. Good weekly deals. My favorite place to grocery shop. The prices are the same as any ShopRite....cheaper than ACME, Kings, Wholefoods. Great friendly staff, especially the florist. She is the best!

This is a pretty good ShopRite although it's not my weekly go-to Grocery Store but I have stopped in here a few times on my way through Chatham and so far they've always had whatever I was looking for. They've got a decent Prepared Foods section full of quick and easy meal ideas for lunch or dinner, well stocked Frozen Foods, Pantry Items, and a pretty good looking Produce Department. So no complaints to report from any of these things. I will say that they need to do a better job of keeping the aisles clear for people to shop in. I understand product has to get restocked but some of this stuff looks like it's just abandoned in the middle of the aisles so that's definitely not cool. As far as Grocery Stores go it's not bad but it's not great either especially when compared to the other local ShopRites. All things considered this place gets 3 stars from me. We don't need no "Tripping Billies" And That's the Name of That Tune.

Basic produce and products are constantly out of stock here. Delivery services never come within the window of time reserved, which requires a follow up phone call to the store with no apology or concern about customer service in return.

This may be the worst grocery store I've ever been to: the prices are insanely high (higher than other shop rites and Whole Foods) for the same exact items. Lots out of stock. Selling food on shelf (eg bread) the DAY OF the best by date. Pay attention to prices on items and at checkout!! A ~half pound of deli cheese somehow weighed in at 3 pounds and cost $20 lol. A 12-pack of sparkling water cans that was $4.30 on the shelf was scanned at checkout as $9. Avoid at all costs.

Filthy floor, stinks like dead fish, cashiers look like they came off the Bowery, Manager held up by a food basket and uses it like a walker. Fresh food stinks. Canned goods are ok. A really rundown slumlord run store for a nice neighborhood.
