I originally went to Pep boys to diagnose a knocking/clattering sound at the back rear of my car. I told them I suspected my shocks and struts were old, but to let me know what the problem was before working on my car. I spoke with what I believe was the Service Manager, and he assured me they would diagnose prior to touching anything.
A few hours later, I got a call to pick up my car. A mechanic named Manolo had replaced my shocks and struts, but failed to notify me until it was already done. After picking up my car and paying $600+, I noticed it was still clattering, so I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion. My other mechanic said that the actual problem is that the frame of my car is deteriorating from rust, missing a large portion, and it was hazardous to drive. That my suspension could completely fall out from under me while driving.
He distinctly said that the mechanic at Pep Boys was wrong for not notifying me, considering the shocks/struts are in the immediate area of decay, and there's no way that they missed that. All of the people I spoke to at the office were more than friendly, and had great customer service, but I don't recommend this place at all for quality service. Please consider a smaller, local mechanic for diagnosing any noises or anything more than an oil change.

Staff very friendly. Small miscommunication when picking up my vehicle, but was remedied quickly. I left satisfied with repair.

They used to be Excellent for my wheel alignment but they stop doing it on my Tesla claiming they don’t make money, Told me to take it to Tesla. I don’t understand because I pay every time I go there so it’s no way yall not making money.
Why do you think yall in business people go to pepboys to get their work done at an affordable reasonable price and instead of going to the dealer if yall have the same price as dealership people would just take it to the dealer.

My husband this morning went to buy and install 2 new tires, all the service was very good, the attention time too, but when receiving the vehicle back my husband noticed that the 2 caps of the left tires of the wheels were broken, the manager of the store located in the Haddonfield in a very rude way replied that that always happens and that it was better to buy some new tire caps at AutoZone for 30 dollars.
I think you pay for good service so that the people in charge of providing it are careful and responsible.
It’s not fair that we had the covers of the 4 tires in good condition and now we have to buy another set again

Pep Boys ripped me off for $1,000.
They couldn’t find the problem with my car, so they simply guessed. I mistakenly trusted their expertise and allowed them to continue with their recommended repairs and replacements. (They said I needed new solenoids) I expressed hesitation at allowing them to work on my vehicle while not knowing exactly what the issue was, but they gave me the classic line, “Your solenoids will need to be eventually replaced anyway.” Unfortunately, I allowed them to continue.
They replaced my solenoids, and $1,000 later, my car was experiencing the same issue as before. I returned immediately, and they said they would look at it again. The next day I called to follow up, and they told me that they were waiting for their head mechanic to see what was wrong with it and that they would not be able to look at it for two days! Two days later, after calling them multiple times, I finally got information about my vehicle. Apparently, the timing belt was tilted and needed to be worked on. They quoted me $2,100. I am sure that had I allowed them to proceed, my car would still be experiencing the same issues.
Do yourself a favor and find a local mechanic, because pep boys are NOT IT. I learned an expensive lesson. Please heed my warning and DO NOT go to Pep Boys for repairs or car service.
