My family has been loyal customers of Closter Bootery for years, but after my recent experience, I’m appalled. I had the unfortunate encounter with a saleswoman named Lisa, who was incredibly rude and inappropriate. My sisters were planning to come in and purchase shoes for their children, but after the way Lisa treated me, I immediately called them and told them not to give this place their business. Someone with such a terrible attitude should not be working in retail, especially in a place that claims to care about customer service. It’s truly a shame, as we’ve been frequent shoppers here for a long time. But after this experience, I can’t justify returning.

One of the worst shopping experiences to date. The owner was incredibly rude and dismissive and so pushy. Save your money and go to naturino in englewood. Much better experience and great customer service.

Today 4/20/24 is the last time Closter Bootery will get my family's business since it's clearly not appreciated! I entered the store at 10AM and could not say I was "greeted"; instead I met with an annoyed elderly woman (not the owner) who said she had just gotten there and that "Saturdays are crazy." I'm sorry but I arrived when their business opened so wasn't sure what the problem was and some businesses are struggling to stay afloat, so again, no empathy there. PS. only mention age group as sometimes a younger girl will help out in the store and she is sweet. The owner and an older gentleman arrived a few minutes later into my visit. My associate lightened up a bit when my son (almost 2 years old) was walking/running around smiling and giggling. She proceeded to measure him and grab a couple pairs of sneakers. All was fine until my son's sporadic cough began and when she made a face of disgust and backed up slightly. The first time neither of us said anything until the second cough when she then in a nasty tone asked me if he was sick. I responded no, but that was not sufficient, she proceeded to grill me like she thought she was a medical professional as I was trying to explain his lingering cough after being sick 3+ months ago with a severe throat infection and after seeing and being cleared by an ENT (again this was a visit for sneakers people *face palm*). She let me know that didn't make sense and said parents bring their sick kids in all the time and get them (the workers) sick - mentioning that's why they had to put a sign on the front door. She left me with the shoes to put on my son and went to the back area where I could still see her and clearly heard her speaking to the owner and elderly gentleman. I clearly heard my Associate say she asked me if my son was sick and mentioned the cough for 3 months; in which the elder man clearly said 3 months is a long time to be sick. Again, my son is not sick and if he was, the last place I would take him to is your business (or any for that matter). By the time she was done disrespecting me and being inappropriate, I was very uncomfortable ready to leave (tempted to leave empty handed). The shoes were off my son's feet and THEN she wanted to be helpful and do her job. She stated that she needed me to put them back on to see and feel the shoes on my son because "that's what I'm here for." I let her, she told me the prices, and then we proceeded to check out where I reluctantly spent $129 on 2 pairs of sneakers. She was trying to be sweet and acting as if she likes kids and didn't mind my son being there offering him a sticker - which we both rejected. Little too late to try and give positive customer service. As stated, I will never return nor recommend this business to anyone. Very sad to see as I come to write this review, it's more common than I knew. If you dislike kids and all that comes with working with them, just sell adult shoes. I'm sure my and all the other families' hard earned money that you receive on these "crazy Saturdays" and all other days, did not make you sick! I used to be happy to support this local business and came for the experience - now they have proven to care less. Someone here recommended Stride Rite for wide shoe needs like my boy. I have also heard good things about Nordstrom Rack and that they measure too!

Looking at Genna k review of Closter Bootery. Sounds like Genna is Rude and inconsiderate. . I dont want her kids germs or have to sit where she left her dirty wet shoes. Time to grow up Genna and think about others. Genna K

Like everyone else said, the sales person was very rude and offensive. She came over to help my daughter and didn't even ask what kind of sneakers we wanted. Just put on the exact same pair we owned in a half size up. These sneakers aren't cheap and we were looking for variety, not that she asked. My daughter coughed once, "is she sick?! I'm going to put a mask on" mind you a cloth one which we know now does zero for the person wearing it. Anyway, then we had my daughter's shoes in the bench and the woman said you have to put those dirty wet shoes on the floor. I said what's the issue with that? "Well I wouldn't put my dirty shoes on your couch" I'm sorry but it's a children's shoe store not a sterile hospital. Kids will be kids! Dirt and germs to an extent come with the territory.

Bought 2 pairs of shoes here. Denise is wonderful. However, as a children's shoe store I find it odd there is no bathroom for children. My son had to use the bathroom badly (crying) and was refused! Also, my 4 year old son has an allergy (was coughing) and was asked to put a mask on him because the owner "did not want her employees getting sick."I explained (as a physician myself) to the owner he has a diagnosed allergy (not contagious!) and that it would be difficult to enforce a mask on a 4 year old.Sorry but will not be shopping here again.

Staff are so friendly and helpful to help your child get the right shoe. I was clueless about size and what type of shoe was right and i left feeling more knowledgeable and happy with my purchase. So much better service then buying online! Happy to help support a local business that we have been going to since i was a kid.

I love bringing my son here! Ever since his first pair of shoes, I have only had positive experiences. The staff work quickly (perfect for young kids!) and their expertise in sizing my sons foot is apparent. Would highly recommend

I have gone in there 2x in the past couple months. The first time was very pleasant and I got 3 pairs of shoes. But after my latest trip there I will not be back. The sales associates were rude. I asked to see a shoe and they first women I spoke to was huffing and puffing with an attitude that she's have to get someone else to help me. There was only 1 other costumer in the store mind you. I asked for a shoe they brought several shoes out I didn't ask for. I told her specifically what I need and she kept making comments and fighting me about what I was looking for. The sales associates were just plane rude! I will never go back. I found wide shoes at Stride Rite they will be my go to place for my daughter.

I love the Bootery! I have been here several times since someone recommended it to me last year. I bought several pairs of shoes and boots here for my grandson and the shoes fit perfectly and look great. I am very happy with my purchases. The staff is very knowledgeable and expert at dealing with young children and making sure that they fit the kids' feet perfectly. They have high quality shoes and lots of great styles to choose from.
