This was our 3rd visit because the first 2 were so good. I ordered a mudslide but the waitress told me they couldn't make one because the bar doesn't have a blender. That's ok. I ordered a different drink. I ordered the falafel burger but instead I got the falafel appetizer. We order coffee and dessert. I ordered a nutty irishman. My husband orders a cappuccino. Dessert comes. Then the waitress brings the bill. So I ask her about the coffee. She says she thought I was ordering the same drink I had ordered previously. The mudslide? Why would I try to order something (again) that I already knew they couldn't provide? And why wouldn't they bring my husband his cappuccino despite the fact she didn't understand what I wanted?

My family and I went to The Hill to celebrate Valentines a day before the actual holiday so it wouldn’t be as busy. Our experience in the restaurant was good. Staff was attentive and we had a quiet dinner since there was a big snow storm in the morning so there were only three other tables besides ours. Unfortunately the bad part came once we got home. My whole family started getting sick beginning with myself. I started getting nauseous throughout the evening. I believe I had the least amount of food poisoning. My wife vomited at 2am profusely. My daughter vomited all over her bed at 3am. When I woke up my mom was complaining that she didn’t sleep because she went to the bathroom all night. I contacted The Hill and left a message and no one responded. I emailed Lauren who is the assistant manager. I had her business card because I was initially thinking of having my mom’s 80th birthday party there since the restaurant was so nice and the waiter gave me her contact info. Lauren finally emailed me a day later and said she will contact me in regards to this issue but I still haven’t heard back from her. I don’t like writing these kinds of reviews but I feel I have no other choice. I know every restaurant cannot be perfect all the time but at least have the courtesy to show your paying customers that you care.

Food was tasty. Started off with the Boratto-fig app that was presented nicely but lacked flavor. The apple-gorgonzola salad had a nice melody of zingy and earthy notes that blended well with the zesty dressing. The originally ordered bottle of wine was not available. The sommelier made a nice alternative recommendation. As the main course, the tender slow cooked halibut was a palate pleaser with sweet spinach along with a savory vinaigrette. The mushroom risotto was well prepared. Felt like seating could be spread out a bit more as the tables next to us were quite close. Would recommend & will be back.

This is our new local favorite! Best Gin and Tonic I've had. Consistently delicious fish dishes and steak with awesome veggie side dishes. The noise level is low and so welcoming to dinner conversations.

Disappointed in the main courses. Scallops were sandy and the pork dish cut of meat and spice mix changed from last time we ordered it and we did not enjoy it. Dessert and appetizers were good.

Overall good. We go to the Hill often. There was a change to the menu, on a staple that's been on there for about while. I like when servers let you know if there have been recent changes. I blindly ordered what I thought was the usual...I was mistaken. Next time I'll be more careful...

We have been here twice and this time wasn't as good as the first. We had a very delicious burrata app that was shared but after that the meal went downhill. My wife had the duck which was cooked fine but just ok. I had the scallops and they were small and the dish lacked seasoning. My wife and I both had cocktails which were ok. We wrapped up the meal with the monkey bread pudding and it was also just ok. Overall with 20% tip the meal came to just over $200.00

Love this place and enjoy the many times we have gone there, but this last time was not good. Our dumpling app was cold in the center, and so was the sauce. One bad food prep can happen, but then our quesadillas were also not hot. Did we complain? We let our bar tender know about the dumpling but just accepted it about a bad kitchen day and just paid a left. We hoped the host would ask us about our experience, but no one did. We hope this was just a one time issue.

We come back green only for apps. New girl or bad day perhaps but after waiting for some time only after we made our initial choice did we learn two things were not available. Not a big deal but we planned out orders around them and normally this would be shared along with the menus. Overkill on sesame in salmon and tuna ... there's really only one reason for this. :/ anyway 1 of 10 times was bad otherwise we like it here

I graduated with my Doctorate and had my graduation party, a very special occasion, at The Hill in Closter New Jersey. They have an intimate private room upstairs and let me tell you they did NOT disappoint! I chose to have it done cocktail style and they had wait staff that were constantly passing hors d’oeuvres/appetizers. Lauren, who is the event Director literally did everything with precision and perfection! Not one detail was missed! She even had a signature drink, made for the occasion! The staff that was assigned to us was absolutely amazing! Justin seemed as though he was by my side every second and Jordan worked the room and made sure that not one guest had an empty hand, whether it be hors d’oeuvres or cocktails! We were allowed to bring in our own dessert from a bakery however, they do offer a choice of dessert if you so choose. Chef Ben, who settles for nothing less than excellence decided he was just going to make the deal even sweeter surprising me by finishing off the night by handing out Wisconsin cheese curds, which was a major hit as we are originally from Wisconsin and major Green Bay Packer fans, and there were several Wisconsinites in that room that night and those cheese curds literally topped the show off and made us just love him and The Hill that much more! You cannot go wrong if you come here for a small intimate dinner party in the main dining room or have a couple of cocktails in the lounge or reserve the intimate private room as I did!

A great experience, every staff members were professional and well established restaurant in Bergen County. Pleanty of parking in the back, lovely dining hall, coat closets, really good cocktails, and food itself is amazing. Will definitely love to return for another great experience. We also inquired about weddings, and they do accept as long as you fill out a form online on their webpage.

If you are looking for a nice night out for a drink or a delicious meal - this place is it. My husband and I enjoy coming here and love everything from the burgers (huge portion of fries and so good if you get truffle), the steaks, the lettuce tuna wrap app, polenta cake, short rib mac and cheese & desserts - are some of our favs. He loves the old fashions and their espresso martinis are my fav. The service is always amazing and it's a nice ambiance. Highly recommend.
