On several occasions when coming from my country I stayed at this hotel and it was really good. It is true that it is not a five star hotel, the truth is that it is comfortable, clean, beautiful and the staff is always very friendly!

Mr. George is fantastic. The man knows the hotel inside and out, I have stayed here a few times to visit friends and have a nice weekend and this time I was here for business. It snowed and some cars were snowed in, I had let George know the night before I was worried for an interview and when I woke up and saw the snow, I was now worried I would miss it because my car could be snowed in. I go outside, and there Mr. George is shoveling the snow around my car! How wonderful.Rooms: Made me feel at home

We went for dinner in the area and instead of driving the hour plus home we decided to stay at the inn. First we were put in a room right next to a very loud family. We are just two of us. So needless to say, there wasn't much sleeping in. Then the bed slanted into the middle so we were very uncomfortable the two of us in the bed. The king bed was good for only one in the middle. The pillows were not helping in the comfort department either. I guess the rooms are in need of an update. For comfort for sure.

I can’t say enough good things about Colts Neck Inn! I stayed here for 3 nights with my 2 dogs and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The Inn was incredibly clean, the staff were friendly, the location was great, and the Inn has a very homey feel to it. My room was plenty big and had a fridge, microwave, and desk which was super helpful. I was staying here while I was waiting for my house to close and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

A great hotel option if you're looking for some a little different than chain hotel. Close enough to the Long Branch and Asbury beaches but in a more rural setting. Good clean rooms and a great staff.

I stayed recently Colts Neck Inn over the Thanksgiving holiday, 6 nights, my stay was uncomfortable and regrettable, I wish I would have picked a different hotel. During my stay, I experienced a lack of housekeeping, but more critically, there was a serious problem with room security, due to housekeeping's mistake. On the 4th day of my stay, I informed the front desk that my room had been serviced only once since I'd checked in, and I requested fresh towels. I was assured this was a mistake, housekeeping service was supposed to be daily, and the front desk would make a note to ensure the room was cleaned and fresh towels were provided.Upon returning to my room that evening I found the door to my room had been left unsecured by housekeeping, the door was left open 2-3 inches. It was clear that housekeeping had made only a very brief visit, to make the beds hastily and remove dirty towels (but left no clean ones) before leaving the door open, as if they forgot to finish the room. Thankfully, my work laptop and valuables hadn't been stolen while the door to the room was left open and unattended. I went to the front desk to bring the front desk attendant to see the condition herself, she was shocked it looked unfinished, she said it wasn't normal, she was very apologetic. She also took pictures with her phone for "the log" to inform management, assured me the owners would speak to me the next day, the owner or her son.I checked with front desk staff repeatedly for the next 2 days, asking whether the owners were available, each time I was told they were not at the hotel. I eventually checked out without any sort of acknowledgement. I emailed the hotel after my stay to communicate these issues, and I received no response whatsoever. Obviously guest feedback isn't important.I selected Colts Neck Inn to support a local business while visiting family instead of booking at a chain, sadly I found my experience to be frustrating and disappointing. Instead of charm and ambiance in a historic atmosphere, I found apathy and neglect, and the underlying smell of mildew and sewage. The housekeeping staff is not cleaning guest rooms properly, and when they do clean, it's the bare minimum. The dried leaves on the floor and piles of lint/hair in the corners show that the carpets are not vacuumed, not during guest stays or between guests. The spice/clove deodorant is not enough to mask the smell of an unclean room. Even the microwave in the room had dried colored liquid on the bottom, more evidence housekeeping is not cleaning or inspecting. But leaving a guest's room door open and unsecured is one of the worst things that a hotel housekeeper could do. I should have checked out and found another hotel, that was my mistake, I felt unsafe in my room and totally ignored.

Wow! What a nice hotel. Booked a room for an out of town friend. Went inside to check things out! How lovely! Inside there was a gorgeous Christmas tree lit up and a friendly receptionist happily waiting to answer my questions. Even checked out our friend’s room which was beautifully renovated, clean, and welcoming. Was so delighted to have our friend stay there. She was so happy with the accommodations and said she had the best sleep.Been driving by this hotel for years and never knew how quaint and charming it is.Rooms: Clean, renovatedWalkability: Close to shopping centerFood & drinks: Close to restaurants

Rooms have no A/C. We were told to open a window, the whole place is old, smells funny, "fitness room" is just a storage closet with a treadmill in it. If all you need is a roof over your head for the night, this is the place to be. Bare minimum effort.

Colts Neck Inn!! If you are looking for new this is not the place for you. If you are looking for Friendly, Attentive and Comfort that makes you feel like you are a friend or family member, This is the Place. The staff was amazing, housekeeping made sure we ha a clean and fresh room everyday. The noise level was a bit high (in our room 118) but hopefully that will be taken care of in future upgrades. The owner is so hands on, I left feeling like she is one of my good friends that I have known all my life. My Group stayed for a week with a few hiccups. But when I/we head back to NJ again I/we will be staying at the Colts Neck Inn. Staff of CNI, Thank you. Happy Guest.

Cozy historical hotel with a friendly staff. You really feel at home the minute you arrive. This place is pet friendly and located just 30 minutes from the beaches. Even though the hotel is old, the place and rooms are clean and well kept. Rose garden and flower pots and plenty of outdoor seating added charm to the place. We really loved the cookies, lollipops, mints and coffee available 24/7 in the lobby and the daily continental breakfast was adequate too. A hidden gem and we'd stay here again.Nearby activities: Beaches, Delicious Orchards Market close by.

Let me start by saying the staff is wonderful! And I also understand the owners design of the hotel. But that being said, it still needs major updates. The hallways are dark and dreary. With dust on the lights/fixtures/vents. It didn’t give me a old time charm, it gave me haunted feelings. Then when we got to the rooms, it was just okay. I like the rose, it’s a nice touch. I also think the toiletries provided were nice. But the mattresses are not cozy, they feel/sound like they are as old as the building. I have slept on better motel 6 beds. Also, the shower itself was falling apart. It was literally held together by tape in some spots. The continental breakfast was very underwhelming as well. Just bread, cereal, and packets of oatmeal. For $130-200 a night, you would think there would be something more than a red roof inn breakfast.

Quaint old horsemen hotel, back in its hey-day must have been quite grand. Age has taken its toll on the old girl and is in need of some maintenance upgrades inside and out but it is a nice place to stay. The rooms are in need of new blinds and AC units, the bed was comfortable with clean sheets/bedding. The staff are professional and friendly, helpful when needed. The breakfast is below average for continental and not enough seating. But all in all for the price ( and is in a beautiful town and near choice attractions) this is a nice place to stay. We would stay again.Safety: Some areas of the parking lot and walkways were not lit and could cause a trip or fall from the uneven sidewalks.
