Been to many gyms over the years and have a solid understanding of how things should work. This is not intended to insult anyone only to provide an honest review.- Place has a good selection of free weights and machines mostly clean and maintained- People who work here seem pleasant ( Trainers are busy and look like they care )- Issue is with the people who attend- Very crowded all the time- Membership is very young with most looking like HS age- Seems like most just want to say they go to the gym and really have little interest in a true workout- Very few people actually workout ( Except the older crowd )- Many have no clue what it is to work out and spend most of their time talking and texting- The outfits are entertaining to say the least - I have never seem so many out of shape young girls who have somehow come to believe they should display the skin- Outfits for this group are about 2-3 sizes too small- There are members who come to the gym with tripods for their cell phones to video something... it’s not working out.. not sure what this is all about..- They setup these tripods and then go socializing and lock down the equipment for a long time... only to return for one or two reps- As with many gyms there are lots of machine sitters who sit and stare for a long time in between attemptsIn the end you get what you pay for and this is close to HS gym class... If you cannot live without your cell phone for 45-60 minutes you are not working out. Still the gym is worth a look with the large amount of equipment and location. Just be prepared to work around most of the kids...

I’ve been a member for a year here and while like many others hate leaving a negative review on a local place this place is deserving of it. The place has sunk over the last year..Really bad customer service. Front desk folks never do a thing when you call it out. I once informed them of a broken or malfunctioning treadmill and then saw nothing was done for that entire week! Not even a sign..Machines.. 1/4 are broken or is needing repair.Fitness equipment.. you will find yourself arguing with mismanaged fitness class instructors who are quick to tell you the equipment is not for use but is laying around. The gym is filled with nothing but 20 something’s more bent on updating their instagram with their workouts than people actually working out. Also funny how there is never a manager or owner or anyone with accountability around for anything. This gym is a you get what you pay for kinda deal.

I hate leaving poor stars & negative reviews but when it’s warranted I feel I have to. First off the workers at the desk when you first walk in….MISERABLE!!! They’re never smiling and God forbid you ask a question!! Why would you have people like this representing your place of business? I get that it’s mainly teeny boppers that go here but now I see why. Second, the equipment is almost always broken & it’s weeks sometimes over a month before it’s fixed. Third, there’s barely soap in both men and women’s bathroom and I know because both my sons tell me the same thing. Lastly, they need to get their thermostat fixed. It’s 68 degrees outside & the heats pumping inside. I get that it’s November but if your thermostat was set properly it wouldn’t be pumping out eat while it’s 68 outside.

On September 25, I received an email from the manager that said: "It’s been a while since we’ve connected, but you have been running through our mind! We still think you’d fit right in here at Crunch East Brunswick. Your previous guest pass expired, but no sweat. Come check out all the gym-azing things we have to offer with this VIP GUEST PASS (just show this email in-club)!"On October 4, they sent out an email for a guest pass even though I didn't request for a guest pass. I thought, wow they must really want me to use a guest pass.I went in to the gym, and it turns out that was sent in error and they had also sent a follow up email about it. I mentioned that I also had an email from the manager prior to that email about a guest pass. I had the $10 day pass instead of it being free, and I just paid it since I was already there. But it felt like I had been baited. Was that also sent out erroneously? Two guest pass mistakes in a two week span?On one hand, they should have owned their mistake, and on the other hand I had an alternate opportunity to receive a guest pass that was denied. And on principle it's messed up!The gym was decent though.

This would be a lovely gym, if they had better employees. The managers here are rude and nasty. If I were you I wouldn’t even bother coming to this gym.

Worst customer service ever. I mean does this place even have a god forsaken manager? I am currently out of the state and wanted to cancel my membership. I called Crunch Customer service and they tell me I have to call my home gym to cancel my membership, yet everytime I call this location (my home gym) they never pick up so how the heck am I supposed cancel if they never pick up. And then they have the audacity to call me and leave a voicemail about an outstanding balance I had already paid and then I called back quickly after and still no one answers. No one go here unless you just want to waste money

Cancelling a membership here is like fighting in the hunger games and still losing miserably. I have been out of the country for a month and also have lived an hour away from the East Brunswick location for over a year. Because of this, I've been unable to go in person to cancel. I tried emailing and calling the management here but have not receieved a response. I paid my overdue fees online and called the customer service line someone in the reviews mentioned. They told me to wait for my payment to process and they will cancel it for me before my next payment is due on the 1st. I then found out that they charged me TWICE (almost $200 worth) and the customer service woman told me I had to talk to the gym directly to resolve it. That sounds like a great idea if I was actually able to talk to someone and not the 2007 JC Penny elevator music and automated message that answers the phone everytime you call. I also was told upon the second customer service call that I could not cancel (even though they literally told me I could cancel once my payment went through). So. instead of enjoying my time away, I now have to call my bank and despute the charge, wait up to 72 hours for an email response from the customer service people that provide the most sub par of services, and probably be charged another monthly fee. This is a commercial gym, not the mecca. I doubt anyone is getting paid enough to worry about losing $30 a month for a gym membership. Also, before you respond that you're sorry about my experience and to email management, I already did. So please check it:) Thank you

Terrible management. Drove 30 minutes and brought a guest with me to end up not being allowed to come in since my guest didn’t have his physical ID with him. Offered to show him a picture of his ID on his phone but he wasn’t flexible at all. Extremely upset and disappointed. You should Fire the guy at the front desk!

I'd give this gym zero stars if I could. The personal trainers are completely and utterly rude and disgusting. They block off an entire area of the HIIT zone for "personal training" except use only a small portion of the area and even when you want to quickly grab equipment walking by they scream at you to back off. Even when there was ONE client they were seeing. Me and my friend politely asked for a piece of equipment (that was not in use and was simply being used as a table for her clipboard) then proceeded to yell at us loudly through her MIC THAT WAS ON. These workers suck and some of them lack the true ability to work in the customer service sector. Don't know how any of them got a job when they are clearly not sociable or friendly at all. Canceling my membership asap. Good for a starter gym but if you think this gym environment is warm, friendly and inviting find somewhere else to go. I suggest planet fitness. Shoutout that one guy at the front desk though, he was cool.

I wore crocs to this establishment and I was kicked out. I live 30 minutes away and I was still told I couldn’t workout. I acknowledge that this is company policy but I still think it’s unfair and worth a 1 star. Staff was not polite but not rude.

Personal Training is a complete scam. The trainers suck, start late and end early. They don't cover much at all since the session is only 30 mins. The payment is confusing and by the time you figure it out you can't cancel the contract. I got the 3 month plan, absolute garbage do not waste your money. Stay away from this scam, especially Ralph since they pressure you into signing on the spot. They charge $45 for 30 minute session. Complete rip off since I'm not even getting full session time. They didn't even offer what they promised, no online nutrition or personalized workout plan. Trainer is more worried about scheduling than the actual session and spends most of it walking around the gym talking to people for the bare amount of time he gives in the session. Stay away from this scam and not go near their contract. Wasn't even showed the full contract after I signed.

Facility is really overcrowded. Tried to cancel my membership and was told by an employee over the phone that the membership would be cancelled after my 1 year commitment ended. After the 1 year period they continued to charge me so I called again to cancel (again) and was told I can't cancel over the phone and now I owe another 1 year commitment fee because I didn't cancel within 30 days of the renewal (which I did months prior). Moral of the story, the employee lied about cancelling my membership and now they try to charge me every month for a membership I don't want and didn't agree to which results in me filing a dispute on my credit card that they began to charge after I filed a stop payment through my bank; I'm not even sure how they got my credit card information to charge.I would only sign up for this gym if you have the intention of never leaving and never having a chance to use most of the facility.

Pathetic maintenance of equipment here, half of the cable machines are useless because either the hook isn’t there or the d handles are nowhere to be found. Flagship gym in East Brunswick and the bare minimum isn’t possible. And they wanted my money for personal training ?. Train where? Equipment is broken all around this gym. Management is a straight up joke here

Awful facility and not enough machines to accommodate all of its members. They make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership and have a really scummy approach when it comes to billing. I was told to call their member services number multiple times and every time it rang to voicemail after holding for a little while and never got a call back. I was told my membership will be cancelled after my 1 year commitment so that it wouldn't renew but not only did they not cancel it, they charged me for another year renewal and refused to waive the fee that shouldn't have been there in the first place. Had to call my bank to put a stop payment on them because they just continued to charge me month after month. Stay away from this place.

Crunch's training contracts are the worst. It's hard getting ahold of the manager(Jessica) to cancel, and when you call the East Brunswick office they tell you that you have to come cancel in person. I was told to give 30 days advance notice, I did in may and Jessica told me the cancellation goes into effect for July. I have never seen such a money thirst facility, I will definitely not recommend Crunch to anyone especially the one in East Brunswick.
