As a passionate enthusiast, taking the fused glass class with Fred Buxton at The Glass Underground in New Jersey was a true highlight for me! Travelling with my sister Jill from just 1.5 hours north of Toronto, Ontario, the journey was a combination of so many heartfelt experiences. Being able to spend time with Jill and then experiencing this creative path was a dream.

Upon arriving at The Glass Underground, we were immediately taken by the warm and welcoming Meryl (what a gem!! xo). The studio itself is spacious and brimming with inspiring and knowledgeable staff – Kristin, Erik, Eric and Doug – what a team – thank YOU all! This is the kind of environment that sparks creativity the moment you step in.

Fred Buxton, our instructor, was nothing short of phenomenal. With a deep knowledge of glass fusing and an infectious passion for landscapes, Fred made the complex techniques accessible to everyone. His teaching style is very hands-on, providing personal attention to each student and ensuring that everyone can follow along. Fred fostered a collaborative environment that made everyone feel like part of a creative community. We shared ideas, supported each other’s projects, and celebrated our progress together. The five-day course was structured beautifully, and each day was filled with new learning opportunities.

The Glass Underground itself is equipped with all the tools and materials you could need! The facility is clean, well-maintained, and just a perfect backdrop for getting lost in your art.

I left the workshop with not just a new set of skills and techniques but a beautiful piece of my own making and a renewed inspiration for fused glass art. This class is a must for anyone interested in learning glass fusing in a supportive, fun, and highly educational environment. I can’t wait to return and dive deeper into the world of glass!

“I have an oversized multimedia piece that I have held off on doing anything with for years. When I came across it recently, the canvas was quite wrinkled and I was not sure if it could be restored to its original condition. I reached out to a friend, who recommended I take it to L A Frame Co., which I did. The owner, GJ, is an extremely pleasant and helpful gentleman. He took his time looking at the piece and found a tear in the canvas. He explained it would take some time and effort, but he could repair the tear and could probably stretch the piece out enough to rid it of the wrinkles. He explained he may have it to stretch it twice for best results. GJ comes across
as a honest person, and I took him for his word and asked him to proceed. I was pleasantly surprised by the price he quoted me for the job. It was extremely reasonable and likely a fraction of the price I would have paid at mall stores. When I got the piece back, I could not see a single wrinkle on the canvas, nor locate the tear. I am so happy with the result that I will be bringing GJ all my other art work to stretch and frame. Thank you GJ for a job well done. ??”

“The Farmstead is a lovely country setting next to the Passaic River which runs thru its' back area. I have seen artist like myself enjoy the farms classes, gallery gatherings and events.

I take Tuesday art classes with Oscar Peterson who is a successful known artist who has a clan of students following him. My work has improved 150% with his guidance and teaching skills. I have learned to enter shows and believe in myself under his wing.

Worth a drive to Somerset County &. make time to enjoy Basking Ridges down town or stop in to Dewey Meadow across the street for a light bite.”
