My experience in the past was great, I kept paying for the membership because I told myself I was going to go back eventually. I ended up getting pregnant, I called to cancel in September the girl told me that they weren't going to refund it. Which was understandable at the time, but what they don't tell you is that the manager needs to call you to release a form for the membership to be canceled as I learned today.
The lady called me last month, I was at work and it was a very inconvenient time. I asked if it was important and she told me no. You would think that someone wanting them to cancel their membership so they don't get charged for the following month is important. Nope, I was wrong. She asked to call back and didn't even say regarding to. I said no thank you because usually, it's for them to talk you out of it because usually it's for the money and how businesses work.
I got charged again today for the membership and I was livid. I told the girl that answered the phones that receptionists should know the protocol of cancellations and should disclose that information beforehand, so I don't look like an idiot or get charged in the future. I work in customer service and we always state the cancelation and the process on how it works.
I'm disappointed that I may not be getting my money back, when I have a baby on the way. Which people need money for 🤷♀️
So I will be disputing this transaction.

I got an amazing facial with Kristina who not only made me feel so relaxed but I left glowing and my face felt revived and rejuvenated. It was honestly one of the best facials I have ever gotten and this is coming from someone who only went to top spas in NYC for years before moving to NJ. I highly recommend Kristina if you are looking for an anti-aging, therapeutic, professional facial experience.

Update 9/11/2025: As you can see from my last update that I have been going to Emerson Hand and Stone for over 2 years. The atmosphere is calming, clean, and inviting. The front desk staff and manager are very professional and friendly, making the check-in process smooth and efficient. Every month I treat myself to a back to back massage and facial. I rotate between Kat & Vicky, Oxana & Marisol. They take the time to understand my needs and preferences, and make sure I am comfortable throughout the entire session. If you're looking for a professional, high-quality spa experience at a reasonable price, I highly recommend Hand & Stone.
Update 2/5/23: The manager of Emerson Hand & Stone reached out to me and inquired about my issues. She made the massage appointment with my daughter happen and added complimentary aromatherapy. Since the incident I have had another facial and will be making an appointment for another massage when I go visit my daughter's college. Changing my rating to 5 stars for the Emmerson location but 3 stars for the Hand and Stone company for the lack of clinicians to do facials and massages, so you can book two appoints at the same time. They sure have enough rooms at their facilities!
Weeks ago I scheduled a facial with my daughter, I had a wonderful person working on me and my daughter enjoyed her facial as well. I decided to book a couples massage for my daughter and I. She never had a massage before and didn't feel comfortable going by herself for the first time. She is 18. The evening before our appointment my daughter gets a text that her masseuse is sick and all appointments will have to be canceled. They offered my daughter the appointment after me with a male masseuse. I was livid. When I called, I found out that we were never scheduled for a couples massage. They only had separate appointments. The receptionist was able to schedule a couples massage for the following week. Tonight my daughter gets a text canceling the rescheduled appointment! I can't believe this! This is no way to do business! I don't understand why this company doesn't have substitutes when someone is out. Once again we have been inconvenienced. I am expecting a call from the manager tomorrow. I am starting to regret signing up for a membership.

Hi my name is Vincent Mazzo and I’ve been going to Emerson hand and stone location for almost 2 years and in January I called to cancel my membership because I couldn’t afford it anymore but then three months later I realized they charged me three more times, so I called again to cancel it which they finally did this time but they won’t let me get the refund for last tree they charged me for! I called the manager at Handandstone in Emerson and they will not help me at all. They won’t give me a refund or they won’t let me use the seven massage that I had left. They said they all expired and there’s nothing they could do. I am not allowing this to happen. You guys charge me 3 session after I canceled it and now I can’t use those 3 and the other 4 I paid for! I need to figure out a way to either get my money back or be able to use my massages at a different location than Emerson cause the manager there is very Unprofessional!
7 massages I paid for and now I can’t use? How does that make sense! Please let me know how I can get a refund for at least the 3 you charged me for after I canceled or for me to use the 7 I paid for at a different location!

Hand & Stone in Emerson is my go-to. Melissa is incredible for facials she really knows skin, customizes everything to what you need, and makes the whole experience so relaxing. Adem is hands-down the best for deep tissue. He gets right to the problem areas, works out all the tension, and you leave feeling like a new person. Both are professional, personable, and genuinely care about their clients. Highly recommend them both!
