Both Emerson and Hillsdale, NJ bakeries are AWFUL. Most products taste terrible and are old and stale (dull chocolate icing is a sure indication.) You cannot get a single self-serve roll by mid-afternoon since they make so very few, and both bakeries close after 5pm so it's impossible to get anything that is not pre-packaged.

Slipping is the word I have for the Shop Rite of Emerson, There are some very nice people whom say hello as they recognize me for the past 20 years living here. But there is a majority of frown filled faces , non chalone and disinterested workers here. They closed the pharmacy. They have no real hot food to speak of. If you go to Rochelle Park or Englewood Shop Rites, you think you have gone to Disneyland! Hot foods, selections, great presentation, a Nut shop ( Englewood) and on and on! And those two just happen to be 24 hour shops where you would expect some fall off particularly in the late evenings and overnight, but these store are still humming with cleaning, restocking and pretty cordial people even at 2:00 am in the morning! I will still shop in Emerson to save time but now as in today even, I will drive the 20 or so minutes to Englewood to get the fresh baked Jerk chicken or great fried chicken! Oh and the Nut shop as well. They are bigger and have more self help and manned cashiers . Never a crazy wait here. Emerson management should comparison shop the Englewood and Rochelle Park or even the Paramus Shop Rites and see where they can freshen up their presentations and stores to maintain and gain more customers.

This store seems to be slowly on its way to be coming what the ShopRite in Northvale is -- which is pretty bad in almost every way. Hopefully they won't end-up sinking *that* low though. Personally, I don't care for any of the Inserra-owned ShopRites (except for the one in Ramsey) but, unfortunately, they seem to have a monopoly in this area. Much better is the one just across the border in Pearl River, NY - owned by a company named Glass. It's almost like it's part of a different chain compared to the ones in Bergen County.

Management doesn't do much for customers. Carts are not cleaned out from garbage, definitely not sanitized. Many of the carts are damaged There are never many cashiers. Wegmans is cleaner, brighter. Carts are kept clean and sanitized as you walk in. Plenary of cashiers and employees on floor helping. Worth the short ride.

As a lifelong resident of Emerson, I have always done most of my grocery shopping at the Emerson store. Unfortunately, it is no longer the place I want to get my fresh fish, meat or vegetables. The bakery is quite pitiful too!! Don't know why the owner has let the loyal residents of Emerson down...it is disgraceful! I have another grocery store in which to shop

I was at the Emerson Shoprite very early today. No line outside! They were out of CHOPPED MEAT! None whatsoever! A big disappointment as I now have to make another shopping stop. There was a line to check out..about 15 minute wait. My cashier Margaret was a delight..

I can't believe how nasty and stupid the manager is. I am a first responder in these covid times and due to lack of staff, he has everyone on line around the inside perimeter of the store with no space in-between them. The cashier at the bakery offered to take people with a couple of items and manager said no. So people with one item had to wait behind shoppers with full carts Tomorrow we call the health department if it continues Go take some lessons from Trader Joes down the street. They are professional and are handling things the correct way

Inserra supermarkets are using facial recognition to collect data about their customers without our consent or even advising us. I have seen this device in their Ramsey store and their Oradell store. It is disguised to look like just an electronica billboard providing information. But look up at the top and you'll see a clear dome with cameras inside. I suspect that's what this was so I called up the manufacturer and pretended to be the owner of a supermarket interested in their products. I mentioned that I had seen their product in the ShopRite (Inserra) stores. The person I spoke confirmed that Inserra is using their own software on their hardware to do facial recognition.

Emwrson Shoprite has gone way downhill, even thought it was closing. Frustrated after months of going into Emerson Shoprite and not finding products including Shoprite brand products I'm giving a q star rating. Mgmt offers no rationale, they couldn't even find the products in their antiquated system. I'll go a little out of my way to Hillsdalr where they have a diverse selection.

What a dump but a perfect fit for the town. Needs to be demolished rather than a complete makeover. Terrible customer service people with attitude not wanting to do anything to help you. Head cashier cashiers and stock kids are ok. Parking lot is a nightmare. Dairy cases are discustingly filthy. The shevles are poorly stocked. Produce is gross. Meats are even worse. There are 3 others stores in the area so I'd rather drive further than go there. Never a good experience at this one.

Mangers are helpful and staff are always helpful. I like the store a lot and shop there each week a couple of times a week . Mr. Opeci is very nice all the time. Everyone is nice . This is a supermarket. with a lot of traffic. C. Rice, Former Chief Dietitian, Westwood, NJ
