“I can’t say enough great things about One River Englewood and the teachers/people who work there.
My son loves art and drawing and I had been looking for somewhere to bring him for art classes. My friend suggested we try out One River, and since we hadn’t heard of it before, we called and asked if my son would be able try out a class. They scheduled a class for us a few days later! He is a little on the shy side, so he was nervous to go… but from the moment we walked in the door, we immediately felt welcomed into a warm and friendly environment.
From the first class, my son loved his teacher Miss Erica. We signed up immediately after that first class. He’s also taken classes with Miss Shannon, who he also adores! They’re both so encouraging, kind, and he’s learned so much. He’s in the Art Shuffle class which we love since it exposes him to so many types of media. He’s grown so much as an artist in the seven months we’ve been there.
I also need to mention the amazing people who work there, including the owners Shannon and Shayla, Valentina who is there the days my son has class, and Erica his teacher… and I’m sure everyone else who works there is equally incredible. They all encourage each kiddo to be themselves and express that through their artwork. They are welcoming and make us feel like family each time we’re there. They have been very accommodating when my son has been sick and we needed to reschedule. They host a various camps on days off of school, spring breaks, summer, etc. which my son really enjoyed. And they do wonderful things for the community (this month they have a Kindness Project display in the Garden State Plaza to support Autism Awareness). We’re so proud to be a part of this community.
One River has been such a positive bright spot in our lives and we look forward to class each week. So grateful to have found them! Highly recommend checking them out to see how great they are firsthand! <3”
“I came in this morning needing a way to hang my large print.John at Jack's Art Gallery was so kind. He took a look and installed some brackets immediately to the back of my print free of charge. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL. I cannot recommend them enough!!”
“Handled our delicate art with care and professionalism. We’ve tried other framers in NYC, none offered this level of straightforward and attentive service; just show up and they’ll guide you through everything. The brothers who operate this store, Shadin and Shima, are the real deal.”
“I stumbled upon this cute place while exploring the city. I had never heard of a zine before but was in awe when I walked in. It’s easy to forget about time and get lost in all the zines and books. The staff is really kind and passionate about the arts. Savannah really took her time to show me what Zines are all about. I was really inspired by her. I can’t wait to come back in the fall when I’m in the city.”
“I’ve had such a great experience getting tattooed by Pawel. He’s super talented, and really makes sure you’re happy with every detail. You can tell he genuinely cares about his work. I can’t wait to go back for my next pieces. Highly recommend him!”
“Fahim is simply the best! I'm so happy he's still in the neighborhood after the building he was in sold last year. Just a few blocks up on 1st and 89th! Reasonable prices and great work! Thanks so much Fahim!”

“Our experience with Anthony at Estate Silver was truly exceptional. From the moment we walked in, his warmth, professionalism, and unparalleled knowledge of fine silver immediately stood out. The selection he curates is nothing short of extraordinary, every piece more stunning than the next. We have been collecting for many years and have visited countless dealers around the world, but Anthony’s expertise and eye for quality are in a class of their own.
He guided us effortlessly through the process, helping us choose exactly what we needed with honesty, patience, and a deep understanding of both design and craftsmanship. His pricing is incredibly fair, especially given the caliber of the pieces he offers, and the level of personal attention he provides is unmatched.
Simply put, Estate Silver is on an entirely different level and Anthony is the only person we will ever buy from again. His knowledge, taste, and integrity make every visit a pleasure. We cannot recommend him highly enough.”

“Their ability to choose the perfect frame to match your art or picture is unparalleled. Such a great eye and really helps to take the beauty of the piece up a notch!!”
“David and Richard run a great gallery! The work they show is of the highest quality and they are not afraid to take a chance on a potentially great emerging artist while showcasing more acclaimed artists. They are two of the hardest working people in the business who work tirelessly and ethically to get great work into the world and keep artists doing what they do best: creating.”
“Great work! I framed 2 pieces here and the person at the shop was so helpful with picking the frame and choosing the correct backing. Good framing really showcases the art and it’s important! Thanks!? I will be coming back here”
“Susan and Ed are THE best. We had a very special project: @MSCHF “King Solomon’s Baby”
It is a very rare 1-of-1 mid-section of their 2025 experience. It is massive and very delicate. Susan and Ed consulted my wife and I on the perfect frame and setting. The patience for them to complete this difficult project paid-off handsomely. Not only was it perfect, but it was also delivered with care.
There’s no words I can say that encapsulates the gratitude I have for this super team. But hope this review helps convince you to work with them for your frame. You will certainly be happy.”

“had the opportunity to visit the Gagosian art gallery on 24th Street in Chelsea during Spencer Sweeney’s exhibition, The Painted Bride. The gallery’s spacious and striking layout really stood out, and I found the paintings in this show particularly impressive. It was definitely an interesting experience.”

“Don’t hesitate to get your pictures framed here. Wonderful business and very warm and friendly owner. Incredibly reasonable prices! I had another quote that was wildly expensive and so glad a friend recommended Amsterdam Gallery. They also deliver your framed artwork. I can’t wait to receive it in a week!”
“It was a great experience to be part of a group exhibition in which I took one of my photographs and I also talked about what inspired me to create it, I met authentic people and artists with their work as well, it was a great night of sharing and getting to know this gallery.”
“Candido and his team run a local family operated business providing customers with fair prices, museum quality work, and reasonable timelines.Finding a spot that cares for your art, provides honest feedback through the framing process, and is communicative about timelines is essential. I remember initially calling 3-5 framing locations in Manhattan before finding JMC framing. With his 34 years of expertise in the framing industry, Candido has earned my trust to frame and mount 10 art pieces that I’ve gathered across my travels. He is well versed in art preservation, mounting, and design. Moreover, he will answer any questions you have around his framing process. He can be reached over the phone and will work with you 1:1 to ensure your art gets the time and quality frame it deserves.High praise for this man’s dedication and ability to create memories that will last a lifetime. As a bonus he offers customers paying with Cash an incentive!Would recommend to anyone looking to preserve their art for an affordable and quality frame.”
“This bookstore found me. And every since then it’s been calling me back. I walked in and was met with the smell of the alphabet and maps from every country in the world. I was allowed to peruse the first floor without being pressured and that felt good because walking in can be intimidating.Everyone there was helpful and I was directed to the second floor by means of a turn of the century elevator. Maps on this floor were organized smartly and you must ask for assistance before taking them off the shelf.I would encourage you to check out their website so you have an idea of what you are looking for before arriving. They also have volumes online that may not be in store at the current time but they have access to from their warehouse.”

“I recently got a large & non-standard size painting framed here. I had doubts on the frame color and I was suggested a black w/ brushed gold trim. The painting was put on a new stretcher, and we discussed a bit how it would be done. The results were impressive, the painting now seems to pop a bit more and complements our living room quite well. I did notice that they the edge of the canvas that was left unpainted by the artist was painted black. For me, and for this was a super nice touch b/c it doesn't leave the white canvas exposed on the side.”
“Pretty cool that the place is open to public viewing of the art before the upcoming auctions. It’s as if you get to visit multiple art museums at the same location free of charge. Great variety of exhibitions during the year.”
“Love this gallery, I try to make a visit every time they rotate works. It's a beautiful building that almost always has something interesting on display. It's a visual feast, which affords shelter from NYC's temperature extremes; conditioned air for the extreme heat and humidity of the summer, warmth during the biting chill of wintertime, and shelter from rain, snow and anything else the city throws at us.”
“Adam is a rare and exquisite find. His preparation, knowledge, and forthright delivery of advice is to be treasured. I realize that he is a very highly respected buyer but our conversations were beyond all of my expectations. His advice is dynamic and persevering. I deeply appreciate the help I received from this amazing individual.”
“My frames look amazing! I highly recommend this place. It was a pleasure to get my photos framed here. The shop owner was super friendly and kind, and was able to give me good advice on what frame to choose and executed it beautifully.”

“Acquavella is one of those rare places where you’re immediately reminded what serious collecting looks like—wall after wall of museum-quality blue-chip work, from Freud to Bacon to Richter to Condo, all presented without ego or noise. The space is elegant, the pacing just right, and the team knows exactly when to engage and when to let the art do the talking. There’s no posturing here, just a deep, unwavering commitment to excellence. It’s the kind of gallery that doesn’t chase the moment—it defines it.”
“In his latest solo exhibition, No Ordinary Love, Salman Toor once again draws us into his evocative universe of queer intimacy, alienation, and lush painterly fiction. Held at Luhring Augustine in New York, the show brims with Toor’s signature green-washed palette and emotionally charged, dreamlike compositions. Whether capturing figures in dim urban streets, intimate bathrooms, hospital wards, or otherworldly gardens, Toor renders private moments with uncanny tenderness and vulnerability.
The exhibition oscillates between the real and surreal, anchored by queer brown bodies—often young men—grappling with visibility, desire, and care. One painting shows a figure mid-selfie in a dim bathroom, his body vulnerable, half-lit, a phone obscuring his face—a quiet mirror of digital-era performativity and solitude. In another work, a hospital ward becomes a site of quiet connection, care, and erotic undertone, with patients and caretakers occupying green-lit beds under the gaze of time’s slow march.
The painter’s hand is loose but deliberate, building atmosphere through thick brushstrokes and soft distortion. Many of the scenes, like the nocturnal group huddled beneath a street sign or a mythic tableau where animals and humans coexist, feel staged yet spontaneous—as if Toor’s characters have stepped out of a private theater and into our shared unconscious.
The show's title, No Ordinary Love, cues us into the overarching theme: the longing for tenderness, recognition, and sanctuary in a world that often withholds it. Love, here, is not loud or grandiose—it’s coded in a glance, a touch, a shadowy backdrop. Yet the work resists melancholia. Instead, it conjures a space of lush resistance—where softness, queerness, and brownness assert their right to exist, desire, and dream.
Toor’s practice continues to expand the possibilities of figurative painting. With references ranging from Baroque tableaux to contemporary urban life, he invites viewers to contemplate what queer utopia might look like in fleeting gestures and imagined worlds. This show reminds us that love—especially queer love—is often made in the margins, and therein lies its power.”

“Hixenbaugh Ancient Art is the real deal and Randall is a master. To say he is knowledgeable about antiquities is an understatement. For goodness sake, he wrote the book on antiquities and it is available for sale in his gallery. Randall had specific thoughts and ideas about most of the individual pieces I looked at. He spoke about the individual bowls and serving pieces and military hardware, etc. with the experience of a master researcher (which he is, of course). And, when he did not know something, he told me that. But not only that - he gave me theories about what it could have been, or where it might have come from, or what it really had been used for. To top it all off, he is a very nice person with a friendly demeanor. We talked for a long time and I was riveted! Shopping for Greek antiquities can be intimidating because I know no more than it is a part of my culture and it is my current hobby. But Randall made it fun. I was not intimidated by him or his vast array of knowledge because he made me his partner in research. If you have a need for any antiquity, do not hesitate to visit Hixenbaugh Ancient Art. I highly recommend it!”
“Manuel has framed three items for us and each time he has done an excellent job. He has good ideas and has been helpful in getting the right frames and colors for our pieces. And, his prices are comparatively reasonable.”
