I’m new to the area and have been practicing yoga for a while, so it was important for me to find the right sanctuary to continue my practice. I just finished my first class and it was just what I was looking for. A good intermediate practice without any pretension or ego. Thoughtful guidance and instruction, without being overbearing. An open and accepting community. Loved it here! Will definitely be back for more.

This was my first time visiting BambooMoves and more importantly my first time trying Afro Bellydance. What a cool concept and fusion of cultures. I have done bellydance previously in the past but the class is set up for all levels of experience. The class itself was pretty large but I think they're hoping to reduce the size. It was also diverse- people of different racial backgrounds and ages all represented, but only women. The instructor Alexis is very warm and inviting and she encourages you to embrace your sensuality. She distributed her attention equally and made sure people got equal "mirror time". The class was very dynamic. At one point we circled around the room doing hip circles (haha) and at another point we did small groups. All within the span of an hour! I felt like I got a lot out of the class. I definitely felt the workout but it wasn't grueling on my body. It was very fun. I'm happy the studio added this to their line up. Additionally I found the studio clean and the staff pleasant. They have a water cooler (which was much needed) and a place to hang your coat and leave your shoes. I hope to return soon. One note to the studio though- if you plan to record the class (even just for internal purposes), you should let your students know, both as a courtesy and for legal reasons. Might be helpful to look into an image release consent form.Bonus: I did the class using ClassPass. They're giving an exclusive free trial (with 20 bonus credits) check it out . classpass.com/refer/HKGS…

Love this hot yoga studio. I'm not usually a fan of hot yoga, and am more of a traditionalist. However, the studio is well ventilated even though hot. The teachers are quality and I really like when they cue alignment and use sanskrit. the Early am classes are the best since I can get my yoga in before work.

I'm a guy. And I love yoga. I've been at it for 2 yrs or so in order to gain more flexibility and prevent back injuries, etc. being as tall as the bamboo tree in your backyard. (No, not the good luck bamboo on your window sill!) And let me say, I'll bamboo-move any day in this studio because it's clean, warm & inviting, and most importantly, packed with great instructors. I know it's tricky to find good yoga studios in Bergen County - but your search is over. Check this place out! I took the Basic Flow class, once with Rose and then with Wonjung. The class itself is for med-beginner/intermediate as you're expected to know all the basic poses and "flow" through in rapid successions. If you're not there, they recommend the Gentle Warrior class instead. Rose's style was calm with that calming voice, though music was a bit distracting at times. (some pop, beats, etc.) She wasn't too hands-on but she did this reading at the end with a 5-min meditation which was very grounding and cool. Wonjung was more hands-on though on a Saturday morning room was overcapacity so she had no mat of her own to demonstrate clearly. She showed us preparatory steps going into some poses which really was helpful (vs. just doing it and being wobbly). Her voice was a bit less calm and more spartan, but the meditative music she used was spot-on. Slightly different styles, but both great instructors that had excellent figures and great passion for yoga. Class demographic was quite diverse, with half a dozen men sprinkled in in a roomful of women. There were older couples that seemed like they're regulars and it was inspiring to see them go through the flow and owning their health like that. Hoping I'd do the same then! Overall, this is a great yoga studio and I can recommend anyone from all different levels to come try out, esp. since they have a introductory special of $40 for 2 wks of unlimited yoga.
