The staff are friendly but the customers with dogs are always a problem. These people think their dogs must become friends in the store even though there’s always frightening fights. My leg was almost bitten by a dog the owner refused to pull away. My leg is not there for a strangers dog to sniff/investigate. Dog owners should relegated to the grooming areas.

You can't make a grooming appt online for a nail trim. The website says "WALK-IN for NAIL TRIM!!" Great, except they wont even answer the phone to tell me how long a wait it is. Tried to go last night and they were "busy" for 25 minutes, I gave up and went home, and then this morning, they're too bus to pick up the phone AGAIN. I talked to a cashier and she said to just come down and when they're done grooming they'll get to me. No thanks, I'll go elsewhere.

*Update* - within 12 hours of writing this review, the manager of grooming made outreach to me to discuss my concerns. Sarah spoke with me at length about my experience. She offered to complete my dogs cut herself, and had my dog (reluctantly on my behalf) back on her table to finish what was started. Needless to say, the rest of the groom went just fine, without incident from my dog. All this to say I would highly recommend Sarah at this salon. PLEASE DO NOT LET CHERIE GROOM YOUR DOG. I am impressed with the way this was handled, and may consider returning, while only using Sarah.I am so disappointed in the grooming services offered at this Petco. I should have gone with my gut the second I walked into the grooming section, and took my dog and walked right back out. I walked into the sounds of somebody yelling 'stop that! If you do that one more time!' at whatever dog was being worked on in the back. When Cherie, the assigned groomer for my dog, walked in to greet us (at which time the yelling also stopped), it was clear she was completely overwhelmed. This was confirmed by her instantly telling me that my dogs groom was going to take at least 3 hours, and that they were completely overbooked and understaffed. While I expressed my frustration at not being notified of this before hand, I offered to reschedule my appointment to another time if that would help. Cherie went on to tell me that appointments typically take between 2.5-3 hours anyways, so I decided to go with the appointment. She exasperatedly told me about all the other dogs that she needed to attend to before getting to mine, and what she needed to do to them. At one point, I asked Cherie if she would be ok to even groom my dog as she appeared 'frazzled' as I put it, which was concerning. She assured me she would be ok, and would groom the dog. The place felt chaotic, and Cherie certainly appeared to be overwhelmed. Well, I got a call later stating that my dog was 3/4ths groomed, but my dog tried to bite her, and was not welcome to come back to the PetCo for grooming services. While I was not charged for the service, I feel that Cheries general overwhelm and the overbooking of dogs created this mess. My dog has been to other PetCo stores for grooming services, and has been to other private groomers - all without incident, and glowing reports of how sweet she is! I have NEVER had my dog receive an incomplete groom and have never been told that she tried to bite somebody. While I am not debating that my dog may have tried to bite (Cherie was quick to tell me it was all on video. Wonder if they have video of whomever was yelling at the dogs too...??) I am upset at the situation I believe may have pushed my dog to have tried to bite somebody. I feel awful that my dog may have tried to bite her, but I also feel there are some other circumstances here that may have been a major contributing factor.....

Always have good pets. I have been buying fish and other stuff for my pets. They will also do a price match all the time. Very understanding!

I wish there was an option for negative stars because that would be more representative of how poor the service is here. Brought my dog in to be groomed for the first time here. He had been groomed several times elsewhere without issue. I was called 15 minutes after drop off to indicate that he was being uncooperative and was trying to leap off the table, etc. The groomer tried to tell me that my usual groomer must be sedating him to groom him. Of course they weren't which I confirmed with a phone call. Further the Petco groomer was complaining how hard it would be to groom him when I dropped him off. My dog was shaking when I picked him up and they only partially groomed him basically giving him a crew cut, with uneven hair everywhere. I had to take him to his usual groomer to have him fixed so I ended up paying twice (by the way of course no problems at his usual groomer). This Petco charged me for not completing the service, which is outrageous. We will not continue to buy products from Petco any longer.

I placed an order for pickup and in my order was a seasonal dog toy item. It was marked as not available, and when I walked in to the store. The dog toy was right at the front! So I repurchased it when I picked up my order but it was at full price and I was getting it on sale during my original order. So that was very annoying.

We went to buy some parakeets. They were caught quickly with very little stress to the birds. Excellent experience.
