I purchased a $1k+ fire pit as part of their end of year sale. The item was in it's original packaging and I didn't think to (or was physically able to given it's over 100lb) open it up on site to inspect it for defects. When I opened the box at home the item had worn corners/edges and scratches across the sides that were very deep (deeper than taking a car key to it would do). All sale items are final sale and their customer service would not do anything. Huge waste of money and extremely disappointed in their customer service.

The service at Garden Cottage is exceptional. We have purchased items over the years. Our new Outdoor Umbrella unfortunately did not function when we went to set it up at home. A quick call, confirmed there was another available and the staff verified we "had a lemon" and the replacement functioned properly when we returned. We could not be more satisfied, an excellent quality product with Sunbrella fabric and service to match.

Incredibly overpriced. I would say they're even more expensive than restoration hardware without the service

Very cool outdoor furniture. If you have a yard fill it with furnishings from here

I ordered an outdoor patio table from Garden Cottage online. Original date for shipment was the end of June. However i never received a confirmation email. So I had to call the Fairfield store and they confirmed they received my order but now the table would not be available until the end of July. Well here it is at the end of July and i had to call back only to find the table won't be available until November. I never received any emails or phone calls updating me on the status of the order although they had no issue charging my card originally. I'll see how long it take for them to refund my purchase.

My experience at the store was incredibly disappointing. I was very hopeful for a positive experience since there really aren't many stores devoted to selling outdoor furniture in the area, but the unfriendly service prevented me from purchasing anything, and I won't be going back. There were two employees at the store on a Saturday (which clearly isn't enough), but I still tried to be patient. Ultimately, I waited almost 30 minutes (!!). One employee, who had been helping a couple before me with their decision about very small side tables, finally acknowledged my existence and seemed totally disinterested in helping me at all. In fact, despite the fact that she ignored me for the first 30 minutes, she kept interrupting me to help other customers who had just walked in -- my only guess is that because I'm younger, she decided I wasn't serious enough to warrant attention (this was backed up by the fact that when I found a large lounge set that I liked with no price tag on it, she told me she had no idea what the price was and said "we could email it to you" instead of offering to find out the price). I could tell she wasn't interested in helping anymore when she said "you really can do all of this online." Great, that's very helpful when I just drove 30 minutes to your store to actually test out the furniture. Steer clear of here!

Just recently discovered Garden Cottage -- a gem of store and locally owned. They have so much beautiful furniture and home decor I am almost afraid to go in for fear of buying it all! I found the perfect hostess gift for a recent trip to a friend's lakehouse, a lovely ceramic birdbath for indoors or out. So many great gifts it was hard to choose. The sales staff was helpful when I needed an opinion, but not intrusive. All the ladies seemed very knowledgeable and super friendly, but not overbearing. And they did a simple, tasteful gift wrap. Both Morristown and Fairfield locations also have huge outdoor furniture selections. Their teak sets are gorgeous and were on sale for a decent price. The Morristown store is my favorite with its unique outdoor secret garden-esque display area nestled in the back... wish I could've stayed with a book and glass of wine! And don't miss the building on the right, they have a nice selection of florals there. It smells so good I was almost fooled into thinking they were real. Definitely my new go-to place for gifts and home décor.

I have purchased quite a bit of outdoor furniture and accessories from the Fairfield store over the past three years and every time I go in I have to remind the salesperson who I am even though she has taken care of me many times before. My biggest issue is with regard to the Teak furniture. We are having a problem with a set we purchased just three seasons ago and the chairs have started breaking. We contacted Kingsley Bate and they informed us we had to contact the store we purchased it at. The store made us send them an email with pictures of the problem. After 2 weeks of not receiving a response from The Garden Cottage Help Line we called the store again. First they argued with us, then they told us that we broke the chair (which we didn't, since all of them are starting to have the same problem) and finally they agreed to drop the part we need in the mail and we can fix it ourselves. We're not going to do business with them anymore and we're staying away from any additional purchases of Kingsley Bate Teak furniture. On a positive note, I will add that the Kingsley Bate wood furniture that is in our screened in porch is holding up much better than the table and chairs, however, a wood set shouldn't start falling apart in under 3 years (and that's with taking the chairs in each winter).

The Garden Cottage Fairfield showroom is large and carries a beautiful variety of outdoor and indoor furniture, including some very nice upholstery pieces and case goods. Although they're known for their outdoor furniture, I happen to like their home accessories and gift items. I seem to always find something unique that I haven't seen anywhere else. If I were in the market for outdoor furniture I would definitely visit the showroom (but I can't vouch for the furniture prices because I haven't comp shopped). My only complaint is that I stopped by recently about 20 minutes before closing and overheard someone bemoaning the fact that I just came in. An employee also seemed to be following me around the showroom but never asked if she could help. In fact, I got the instinct impression that her only interest in following me was to make sure I was leaving. So, I did leave without purchasing anything. That was a real turn off. I will probably go back but that experience is reflected in their rating.
