The owner Mike is rude, nasty, and combative. Ever feel comfortable to ask a question for Retro? DONT speak to Mr.Marinaccio. I didn't think calling a gym for a question would lead to a fight. His temper is shorter than his patience. From shushing, to cursing, then yelling. Im ashamed that retro is letting a volatile man like him run their business. Don't let confidence and a smile mistake you for kindness, some people are chasing after money and reviews.

To the owner of retro: never in my life have i believed that you actually work there and arent pumped on some testosterone. Thank you for showing people across retro that you dont care for your job, and you dont care for your members.

Called Retro Fitness in fairfield and the owner has a very nasty attitude started screaming at me to the point where my phone couldn’t pick up the audio of his voice. Be wary of any phone calls with mark marinaccio.

On of the better and clean retro gyms in the area! Massage chairs and sauna is great, also ample weight and cardio machines. Please bring back the kids room though! North Arlington location has it able! Thank you

Amazing facility with plenty of equipment. Jacob at the front desk was huge help when my credit card was compromised. He told Mike who waived the late fee which I wasn’t expecting since I just transferred from another location due to work. Facility is very clean and weights are always put back. Highly recommend to anyone in the surrounding area.

Large, clean gym with lots of machines, weights, and equipment. Staff is helpful and friendly and trainers are excellent, especially Sandy Giannini!

I had originally given Retro Fitness of Fairfield 5 stars but after having been a member for over a year and the experience I had yesterday, I have to bring it down to 2 stars. I normally bring my wife with me as a guest and she checks in every single time we go. Yesterday, the front desk seemed a bit busy and as we were waiting to sign her in, one of the attendants told her she was good to go inside without checking in. She was surprised and double checked she heard him correctly and he told her again she was good. As we were walking towards the locker room the owner stopped us and asked if we had checked in. He seemed angry and did this in a way that seemed as if he was trying to talk down to us. We said that I scanned in and that my wife was allowed through. He then proceeded to take us back to the front and asked my wife which worker let her through. Not wanting to get anyone in trouble she told him she couldn’t remember, although she knew exactly which worker it was. He then proceeded to ask one of the front desk workers (not the one who told her she could go through) if it was him to which he responded no. He then proceeded to stare angrily at my wife and passive aggressively tells her that she must sign in every time and it does not matter if the workers are busy we must wait. My wife became visibly upset and uncomfortable with the way he was speaking to her. Given that he is the owner we expected him to have more respect and better customer service towards his loyal members.

I have been going to this gym for almost 6 years. Ita semi clean. They can actually hire someone to clean equipments everyday because it gets dusty and ppl with allergies like myself finds difficult to workout.What I like a out this gym is, its big and multiple equipment so we don't need to wait in line for any equipment.They have classroom as well if you like and a separate room to workout circuits if interested.It's close to me ans familiar so I keep going back again.

I joined retro fitness for the new year because they had a decent membership plan. After creating the membership, I ran into some problems with money and realized I had too many financial responsibilities and couldn’t end up affording the membership. I cancelled before the end of the 3 day policy and was told I would NOT face any penalties or charges. The employees at retro were very kind about the situation after i explained it to them and cancelled the membership for me and didn’t give me a hard time. I was very thankful for that. I was planning on paying for the membership again once I was more stable. It’s been almost a week since I cancelled it and out of no where the owner/manager Mike called me on my personal cellphone and proceeded to hassle me about why I cancelled my membership. I didn’t want to provide personal information to him and said I didn’t feel comfortable disclosing much, and just told him it was money related. His response was to badger me about all of the memberships benefits and that I could’ve given away my membership for free, which I wasn’t told when I originally cancelled. I explained to him I didn’t have anyone to give the membership too and that I was okay with just cancelling it. He proceeded to pry more into my financial and life problems and wouldn’t let the conversation end. I ended up growing frustrated with him and becoming stern with him over the phone and his response was to explode and be extremely rude to. I yelled at him and hung up the phone. I didn’t want to continue the conversation since he was being so rude from the beginning. Then, he decided to call me once more and proceeded to offer me a job in order to pay for the membership, to which I told him I already had a job, just too many financial things to deal with. He kept screaming at me over the phone until I finally hung up on him a second time. This is incredibly unprofessional for a business to do to its possible customers. I would have reinstated my membership at a different time once I had more money but now I will never visit a retro fitness again. I am also going to be calling their corporate office to speak with someone over his behavior. I am appalled that a business would call someone after cancelling a membership and demand an explanation for why they couldn’t afford it .. why care? You have many other clients willing to pay a monthly fee for your gym how money hungry can you possibly get with a single potential customer? Then to try & offer employment just so they could afford to go to the gym. Mike seems like a very disrespectful man and I can see why so many people cancel their Retro Fitness memberships.
