“Edit: checkout the store owner’s reply to my review to see what you’re dealing with. Like I said when I walked into your store: I’m new to this and would love some advice if you’re able to offer it. Doesn’t seem like you were willing to offer it because you decided I’m a democrat (?). Could’ve just said that. Not my fault other stores didn’t educate me. Again, if my lack of knowledge was such an inconvenience, maybe just have a sign saying that unlike your competitors, you’re not willing to help beginners figure things out. That way we don’t bother you. Thanks again for what little advice you did offer. Wishing you the best and updating my review to 5 stars because you seem mentally unstable (given how you’re talking to customers online), and I don’t want any trouble.

Original review:

I’ve been getting into the hobby and trying out different stores in the area, prioritizing the small businesses. I was really excited for Mike’s Gun Shop, especially given the amazing reviews.

What a disappointment when I showed up in person and was made to feel like an absolute inconvenience for having the audacity to need help figuring out what I needed to purchase.

Not sure what I did to upset them within 2s of walking. Anyways- that was my experience. Maybe I caught him on a bad day but I shouldn’t be on the receiving end of that.

Will stick to Bergen Sporting Goods, Louie Gs, and Longshot.”

“My wife and I purchased two firearms from Ottomanellis. They are always very professional, resourceful, and fair with their prices.

Do not hesitate doing business with them!”

“Charlie is a top-notch guy—professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about firearms. He helped me get my first pistol at an unbeatable price, and I couldn’t be happier. He was incredibly patient, took the time to walk me through all my options, and made sure I understood everything. Easily a 10/10 experience”

“Lisa is a consummate professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. There are always a ton of road bumps getting firearms in NJ, and Lisa will tackle all of them while providing excellent communication.
It is an old school, Italian business that treats you like family...highly recommend.”

“Stopped by place for some info/quotes and learned something, (actually quite a few) new things from the gentleman behind the counter, whose name unfortunately I can’t remember off the top of my head, but was definitely very helpful, nonetheless!!! This is an “old-school” vibe shop, and other people posting reviews mocking the gentleman for smoking a cigar are probably not man enough to own/ or even operate a firearm.”

“This old fashioned, traditional army-navy store is one of a dying breed that is difficult to find these days of low quality mega chain stores. And It is the real thing. From the organized stacks of clothing to the unemotional clerks who can find each item with their eyes closed. I knew what I wanted and was in and out in under 5 minutes. No frills, just good quality clothing and equipment.”

“I've conducted business at this location several times in the past and never had a bad experience. This is a great place to purchase firearms and take courses.”

“I JUST completed my NYC conceal carry course at Seneca Sporting Range. I wasnt expecting it to be as fun and informative as it was. Alex was a fantastic instructor that took his time teaching and answering questions. John the owner is a character. You wont meet many people like him anymore. He's a throwback to my childhood. He's great and has a wealth of knowledge to offer anyone smart enough to pick his brain. The range has places to relax and the alleys are spacious, well lit and ventilated. The annual fee is super reasonable.”
