Let me start off by saying that I'm not a fly-by-night customer. I opened my account in 1991, the first year of operation for what was then called Community Bank. Obviously I've been mostly pleased with their service for 27 years. There were a few bad experiences, mostly due to tellers returning my envelope without my cash withdrawal in it. But today, I found the service to be unacceptable and I will be closing my account. In the Flemington branch, bank manager Lewis told me that the company's policy was to not accept double endorsed checks for deposit. I understand that in today's environment, fraudulent people will present double endorsed checks, take the money and run and the bank is left with the loss. But hello Unity, I'm not going anywhere. I'm 53 years old and a lifelong Hunterdon County resident. The reason for the double endorsement is to help out a friend who cannot obtain a bank account and has no way to cash a check. The fact that Unity ignored my loyalty and basically told me that I was free to go somewhere else because they weren't changing their policy for anything left a bad taste in my mouth. So I will be taking my banking service to Chase Bank in Clinton. And guess what, they have no problem accepting double endorsed checks.

At first glance, this unity bank appears to be different than any other Unity bank - That's is because it is! When Unity Bank bought the property, they couldn't tear it down because it is a historical property... so, instead, they restored it. That was part of the Flemington train station, if I'm not mistaken. Anywa, it's definitely worh a check out, especially if you are a unity bank member
