I had an upsetting experience at this location. I noticed that the cashier said “thank you” to every American-looking customer, but not to any of the Asian customers including me. It was very obvious and uncomfortable. This kind of selective politeness is unacceptable and comes across as racist behavior. Everyone deserves the same respect, regardless of race or background. Management needs to address this immediately.

Fresh produce and seafood, a lot of Korean grocery, easy parking.

Last night at 9:56 PM, I was rudely denied service by this staff member when all I wanted was a quick dinner before closing at 10:00 PM. This was my very first attempt to visit since moving to the area, and unfortunately, it will also be my last. Denying customers within operating hours shows a complete lack of respect and poor training in customer service. Steer clear of this place, if this is how employees are taught to treat paying customers, it speaks volumes about the management and culture here.

This an excellent and very clean location with a large variety of products. There were so many fresh produce items, beautiful large Asian pears, dragon fruit, longan fruit, ume plum, radishes, cabbages, salad mixes, micro green blends, to name a few. There is also a great seafood section in the back. The seafood looked fantastic, I couldn’t help myself, I had to buy the mackerel and large shrimp. The prices are very reasonable. They have products clearly labeled, a variety of sushi grade fish, tobiko and roe, uni, and so much more. There were many great options for pantry items such as seasonings, spices, sauces, rice and noodles of all kinds, many types of seaweed and dried mushrooms. The refrigerator and freezer aisles had a large selection of many great looking products.
There was also ready to eat kimchi, seaweed salad, many other Korean side dishes. They have a little Tous les Jours bakery with cakes and breads. There are also Korean skincare items and face masks. These are just a few things that I’m remembering but this was a great store and so much cleaner than many other locations I’ve visited.

Their shelves have expired food, I bought packaged and pre-made side dishes and they were either expired or tasted moldy

I visited the H Mart in Fort Lee after physical therapy, and I was in pain—especially in my arm. When I got to the checkout, I politely asked the cashier for help with bagging, even said “please.” Instead of helping, she pushed my groceries toward the end of the lane. I thought maybe she didn’t understand me, so I asked again. This time, she snapped back, saying, “I’m a slow worker and I’m busy scanning items.” Seriously? That was incredibly rude and dismissive. It was clear she didn’t want to help. At the end of scanning, she did end up helping me bag the groceries, but by then it just felt uncomfortable and awkward. Prices are going up, we’re expected to do everything ourselves, and now we’re being treated like we’re a bother for asking? The whole experience totally ruined my day. I’ve already tried to avoid this H Mart because of how unpleasant it is, and this just confirmed why.
