I am very aggravated with Banfield right now. Short staffed, only one doctor at a time working and no answers to my pets bloodwork in which I ordered and paid for because of concerns for my pets health. .My pet was supposed to have dental done on Dec 13 and then they cancelled an rescheduled for Jan 13th. I was then told that there is no dental available at this time so they cancelled his dental for a second time with no new date in site. My pet had nothing wrong with his teeth during his Oct 23 visit now he has Gingivitis due to not having his teeth cleaned. I paid for a wellness plan for the 16th year in a row and this is what care I am receiving. I had this plan 15 years before with my other pet and never a problem. I have even contacted corporate via email and no response except to deal with the facility directly. Have been trying to get in contact with them and they are closed. This is during the day for the past few days. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Wish I could give 0 stars. Do NOT bring your pets here. They do not care about them, all they want is your money and to have you in and out. I have a German Shepard, he is the kindest and smartest dog I have ever encountered, and he is not your typical overly protective/reactive shepard, he is EXTREMELY calm & to see him in the position he was today terrified me.I got to Banfield for my appointment (He was due for a physical & vaccines) The head vet tech at the front took my information & then said he would take Bruno in the back. I asked why they needed to take him in the back, he proceeded to tell me “the manager doesn’t want people in the back its too crowded today, (he was the manager, not sure why he was speaking in third person, but anyways he then said) Bruno will be in and out you have nothing to worry about” I then told him, I am always in the room with Bruno as shepards are high anxiety dogs, he is a lot calmer if I am there and they always*** allow me in the room with Bruno because he gets very scared. He ended up not letting me back there and telling me Bruno would be right out “its just a physical”The vet tech came out from the back about a minute later and told me “hes chillin you have nothing to worry about” so I was at ease. About 2 minutes later another tech comes out nervously laughing saying they needed me in the back for Bruno asap. I got so nervous and asked if he was okay and she walked out the room to get the vet and Bruno. I have never ever seen my dog act like that in his 5 years. He was shaking, his eyes were red, you could feel his body heat, he was hyperventilating, and restless. THERE IS NO REASON FOR HIS EYES TO BE RED NOR HIM SHAKING AND HYPERVENTILATING THE WAY HE WAS. I asked what happened in there because the head vet tech just told me “he was fine” They then proceeded to tell me that my dog is “too anxious and german shepards don’t act like that normally & that they aren’t able to finish his appointment. They then said, “this will traumatize him so next time he comes we need to put him under a sedative” FOR WHAT?!? I specifically told them they allow me in the room for this specific reason. There was note of it. They then said “someone must of traumatized your dog because this isn’t normal” Excuse me? Maybe if they had listened to what I was saying from the first place my dog wouldn’t have needed to go through all that. & When I mentioned to the vet and other techs that I basically begged the managing head vet tech to be in the room because he is way calmer and they always allow me in there, they ignored it & responded with “Yea i don’t know whats wrong with your dog, but the sedative will allow us to do our job” and that “the rooms were full” BUT there was 3 empty rooms & theres no need for a sedative FOR A PHYSICAL EXAM.Cancelled my plan, will never be coming here again. As I waited to check out, the head vet tech did not even look my way. & Completely dismissed everything that just happened.

Horrible!! Don’t come here. I booked an appointment online and when I showed up they had cancelled it on their own and never called me to let me know. They tried to say they don’t take same day appointments and my appointment was not same day. It was made December 24 and this was now January 7th. Then they said i probably hit cancel by mistake when I got a confirmation email and NO!! I had a confirmation from the day I made the appointment. They never sent out one the day before. They make up lies and try to blame you to cover the mistakes they make.

I waited a long time to get taken care off a few time. Guess it was because of short staff. Other times they were fast. So don't take my 3 stars to the heart. Could be less and it could be more.

When I signed up it seemed like it was relatively good care and price, until after the pandemic. The past two years, the vet/staff started forgetting to give vaccines and boosters during visits. Also, the staff kept trying to push frivolous diagnostic tests and ridiculous arbitrary costs. An extra $25 to use an ultrasound for guided needle aspiration? Or what, you were going to blindly jab without the fee? Ridiculous corporate profit incentive structure ruining care. Just see your local vet/animal hospital and avoid the headache of trying to cancel the wellness plan membership.

Been with Banfield for 5+ years… never been this disappointed. To start with that I have to make several phone calls and wait in the line to make an appointment that’s a month away. Then they send me several reminders for me to confirm that I’ll show up on this appointment. Which sounds well organized. And Surprise! When I postponed everything and shuffle my reluctant cat to his bag for this over due check up. And drove 30min to this place.NO ONE IS THERE! I had to ask the PetSmart staff to know that they are not even working today. ?Why in what world do you make an appointment and confirmed many times for the day you don’t open huh??????

Carlos, Shelby, Chris, Dr. Sposato and Debbie we cannot thank you enough for providing the most peaceful transition for our 17 year-old cat, Marmalade. I had heard very good things about Banfield in Garfield NJ, and it was worth the hour drive, for the care and service we received. Thank you ALL again, for making a very difficult and sad day, a little bit easier.

Vet costs have gotten out of control. Banfield has a schedule if you buy the pet insurance. It seems to help and Im able to budget alittle better with it.

My co worker called to follow up on her dog and the woman who answered was so hospitable it was shocking she kindly informed my coworker “thank you for calling I am currently working with another client IS IT OKAY if I put you on a breif hold? and she said yes and that was just such a professional interaction. i was so amazed. I’m from Paterson where no one is even nearly as nice.
