I have used this business for approx 30 years .
I have never been dissatisfied with the professionalism of the office staff or mechanics .
I have always been confident in the work performed as I AM a single woman and would have no clue what priority repairs should be made .
I AM confident that I AM not being taken advantage of by this repair shop because of my lack of knowledge about cars .
I would give it a A+++ rating !

After years of going to Mark's I was very disappointed with my last couple visits. Mark's was always more expensive than other shops, but they had a reputation for honesty that made the extra money worth it. During the last visit, I wasn't completely comfortable with their recommendations, but I didn't have any understanding of the repairs. When I last visited, though, I knew I needed brakes, and I also asked to have my tires rotated. When I called to check in, they told me that beyond the brakes, I needed all four tires replaced and an alignment. Luckily between my receipt from when I got the tires (barely half way through the rated miles) and a set of calipers, I was able to determine that none of my tires needed replacement, and tread wear across the tread was very even...down to the millimeter. My rear tires (front wheel drive car) were almost new. They didn't do the tire rotation, but did try to sell me tires and an alignment that I didn't come close to needing. That burned a bridge for me.

I highly recommend Mark’s Auto Service in Gillette, NJ to anyone in need of reliable and trustworthy automotive services. Their exceptional service is headed by a wonderful owner, Mark, & his many highly skilled mechanics. Their service is prompt, efficient & the prices are great. They serviced my old Nissan Maxima for several years which needed a lot of TLC due to its age (14 years). Unlike other car repair places & dealerships, they spent the time explaining in detail what was wrong & what needed to be done. They always answer all my questions. As a female I find that gratifying since most car places tend to ignore women. I needed a car with 4-wheel drive to deal with winters here & they are continuing to do an excellent job with my Toyota Rav4.

First red flag was when I had to pay a couple hundred dollars for them to tell me what was wrong with my car. The second red flag was when it took them two days to tell me what needed to be done. Third red flag was that they were going to charge me 150/hr for labor cost (which is extremely high!!!) Fourth red flag was when they quoted me upwards of 6500 for all the repairs. Fifth red flag was when they gave me a car older than me to drive as a loaner -- it is so outdated, so unsafe, I might have died! Sixth red flag was how the mechanic spoke to the ladies working the front desk. I can go on, but this all became clear when I got a second opinion and SAVED 5000 Thousand dollars! oh and the inspection took 15 minutes and was no charge.

Excellent customer service and mechanical work! They saved me THOUSANDS! How you might ask?? Story time! My son jumps in his '14 Ford Fusion (High mileage) and the dashboard is lit up like a Xmas tree. No power steering!I call around to a couple of local shops and they are honest - electric power steering needs a computer reset which they don't have and recommend going to a dealer. So, I went to the Ford dealer near me. Their diagnosis was a whole new steering rack is needed - $3,800!!!!I do some more googling to find Mark's specializes in fords so I call them. They can deal with the computer stuff so I bring it there. They do analysis (sent scan reports!) and discover the wire to the power steering motor was chewed off (rats!)! $500 to fix! Saved me over $3k.Great use of technology for the service. They email estimates with pictures and final bill! All very clear. (Going back to Ford with this info to get my diagnosis fee back!)Service is great (thanks Abbey, Mark and the team!).I really appreciate a well run, local, and competent business!!

I went to Mark's team for a diagnosis and quote for the job that needed to get done to get my vehicle in a safe condition. Mark's team worked diligently to find the problem and described (in great detail) what the issues were. Although I decided not to get the work done, I would highly recommend Mark's Auto Service if you want quality, honest work done on your vehicle- my vehicle drove better when I picked it up than it did when I dropped it off! Prices may be a bit steep but it is likely a reflection of paying the employees fair wages and the quality work they do.TLDR; Expect a detailed diagnosis report and professional treatment by staff!

Was a big fan of Mark's Auto Service but in the last year their customer service became dramatically bad and their prices jumped far more significantly than everyone else performing the same services. Very disappointed and looking for a new auto service location.

I really enjoyed my interactions with them. They diagnosed my car the next morning and sent me a detailed report with pictures and recommendations. I approved the repairs online, and they got everything done very fast as promised.Overall everything went smoothly. The staff were courteous and caring. Communication was amazingly efficient. They also took my car to car wash!Services: Vehicle safety inspection
