After coming here for a few years, I was very disappointed today and will not return. I come in monthly for a Demi permanent color to help cover grays (in addition to haircuts etc). My stylist had suggested I try highlights a few months back, which I did, which unfortunately dried my hair out badly. I decided never to do that again but I was still coming in for the gray coverage.
Today, they left me sitting with the dye on my hair for over 20 minutes after the timer went off. This is not the first time this has happened. I had to ask for someone to wash it out. I didn’t get a cut or a blow dry, just this service. When I left, I had a headache and my scalp was burning. I called to let them know what happened and explained - rather politely- that I wouldn’t be back. I was surprised I didn’t get a simple apology, just an excuse that they were understaffed. I think it’s their responsibility to manage their staff and appointments - I don’t mind waiting some but I definitely mind sitting around with chemicals on my head far past the time they should be washed off. They tried to tell me it didn’t do any damage to my hair but the pain on my scalp and the straw like consistency of my hair tells a different story.

Very strange experience.
I wanted a shorter hairstyle, so I brought inspiration pictures for Tiffany to see.
She completely tore apart all the pictures because SHE didn’t like them. For example,
“This is too disconnected”
“I don’t like that one”
“this one is like Jon and Kate plus 8”
So she says she’ll see once she “gets in there.”
She ended up doing whatever she wanted to do to. A weird, unflattering graduated bob. Nothing like the “edgier” pics I showed.
And when I asked to go shorter with the layers, she cut into them only slightly.
She also talks so incredibly much, it’s hard to believe she’s paying attention to what she’s doing while cutting :(
I called asking if she could fix it and add shorter layers.
She said “I won’t like it, but you can do whatever you want, you’re paying for it.”
So I went back and showed her inspiration pics again.
All she had to do was add shorter layers all throughout the back and sides.
But still, she was going in circles acting as if she didn’t understand what I wanted, and just made some minor adjustments.
She even told me to “bring in pictures next time of exactly what I want.” 😵💫
I had booked another appointment to be nice, but unfortunately I will cancel. I don’t think she’s confident recreating, or taking inspiration from pictures. So she gaslights you into thinking you don’t know what you want so that she can do what she’s most comfortable with? Not sure.
As a licensed cosmetologist, I would never go back.

Absolutely the best. It took me a long time to finally find the perfect place. The atmosphere is nice, all of the stylists are polite and fun. I get my her done by Cina who always pays attention to what my hair needs are and magically makes it happen. While I am there, I always see customers who are happy with their stylist as well. I highly recommend it.

It kills me to leave this review because I have been coming here since last summer. I have always had a hard time finding a salon/stylist from a previous bad experience. Sonia is amazing and a great stylist, however, I am disappointed in their inability to provide resolution for situations like mine. I went in on May 15th two days before I was leaving for my birthday vacation and I asked for a blowout, glaze and a cut. I was told when I came in that I wasn’t booked for a cut but that I would be accommodated which I appreciated. Towards the end of my styling I was told that “Curls would hold up better” this was now my third or fourth time with the stylist so I said “whatever you think would hold up, my main concern is that it last at the very least two days”. I had stressed this when I booked my appointment, when I saw my stylist and when she started styling. She insisted curls would be the best bet so I trusted that. I paid $197.00 including tax and tip and left feeling good per usual. I covered my hair in an oversized hoodie and went grocery shopping. I came home to show everyone and when I turned around they were disappointed, I couldn’t understand what for and when they took the picture I understood why. The back of my hair was flat (not just some pieces but the entire back had fallen flat). I tried not to stress I figured they knew me and would at the very least accommodate me, provide me with a partial refund or come up with some kind of resolution. I called the morning of and was told they would speak with my stylist and see what could be done. I received a call back pretty much saying she was fully booked and unable to squeeze me in, if a cancellation happened they would call. I understood she was fully booked and asked if I could be issued a partial refund for the styling at the very least as I now have to dish out another $60-80 to get my hair blown out as I had originally requested (at this point I was in tears it’s my 25th birthday and I leave tomorrow and I just wanted to look and feel confident, which I so clearly didn’t). She told me they couldn’t issue a refund of any kind I was accommodated for a cut and the service was done. I was then told that hair often falls flat when you sleep on it (I didn’t sleep on it this was not even three hours after my service was done, which I told her). She then told me perhaps I can just recurl certain pieces (I don’t own a curling iron that’s why I paid to have my hair done, which I also told her). I was in tears and just overall disappointed asked once more if anything else can be done (if I can maybe speak to the owner or speak with Sonia herself or just have literally any type of real resolution as it wasn’t a $30-60 service it was $190 of money I could’ve used towards a hair style that lasted me longer than four hours) I was given the “I’m sorry no she’s fully booked and we cannot issue a refund of any kind”.

The last thing I would ever want is to take business from this place as the environment is lovely and the people are friendly and the work is beautiful. But the trust is gone if you’re looking for a reliable salon that will do what they can to make it right I wouldn’t recommend for that sole reason. I’m leaving tomorrow so I will be spending another $70 to have my hair blown out elsewhere, totaling to $260 for a glaze, cut and a blow out. All in all, I’m disappointed in the lack of resolution and the lack of care, I had pictures with timestamps to prove it happened only hours after my service but they insisted nothing could be done. I won’t be returning unfortunately it’s one thing to be unable to fix it due to timing and scheduling but it’s an entirely different thing to not do anything to make it right (a future credit, a partial refund, a different stylist… literally anything other than “sorry best of luck”) for reference I left the salon at 5:40pm below is the picture of when I got home 9:20pm (not even a full four hours and I’m sorry but I think anyone would be disappointed to come home three hours later after spending $190 to see t

I have been going to Bellula for YEARS and it is an amazing experience every single time! My stylist, Amanda Kafer, is a true master at her craft. I’ve been seeing her exclusively from the very beginning and I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. As a woman who tends to grow her hair long, Amanda knows just how to cut and style my lengthy locks! She truly listens and helps me figure out the best looks for my hair length, type, and face, and she makes styling my hair, which is currently about two feet long, look easy! I’ve seen her work with those who have short hair, or those who have gone from long to short hair as well, and I can tell you that the day I decide to go short, she’ll make it look amazing!Amanda had also styled my hair for my maid of honor look and I received compliments ALL NIGHT! I ALWAYS receive compliments after a visit with Amanda! Her wedding/prom/special occasion up and down dos are beautifully done and they LAST! Trust me…like I said…my hair is almost two feet long and naturally straight as a pin, but whatever Amanda does to it, it lasts all night through dancing, hugging, outfit changes, the works!I recently began dying my hair as well for the first time EVER and I am in LOVE with what Amanda has done with it! Terrible experience. I was running late for a cut/color to my appointment (took half day off from work, took an Uber from NYC!!) and called to apologize and explain i was running late. I walked in 18 minutes late and Amanda turned me away. I walked away near tears because I had tried so hard to get here. I guess it's a zero courtesy policy. They just lost a client in town.
