I opened my first account at Glen Rock Savings Bank (whose current headquarters are at 175 Rock Road in Glen Rock, NJ) when I was just a boy--some 60 years ago. In six decades with this bank (which has also served my parents, my siblings and their children), I've never had a problem of any sort. (And that's extremely rare in life; the consistently good service that they provide should not be taken for granted.) It's a model of what a bank should be. The people here are unfailingly kind, courteous, professional, and friendly (in a nice, small-town sort of way). They know who I am. They're smart and flexible. And can offer good advice when needed. The bank has grown a bit since I was a boy, with branches in two other towns (Hawthorne and West Orange), but it retains its appealing neighborhood feel, and its independence as a successful local business. (It has not been gobbled up by some larger bank.) I do business with various banks. But this is, by far, my favorite--very well-run. And they deal with people well. I'll always keep an account here.
