Glad I found Arthur's Self Storage. Tina was very helpful throughout the process and explained everything in detail. She also assisted me with renting the U-Haul for my move. I definitely recommend them if you need storage in the area.

I had reserved a contactless U-Haul pickup for 8:00am and they failed to adequately prepare the truck I reserved for that. Since they open at 10:00am, this totally screwed over my moving plans.

Unfortunately, an otherwise pleasant exchange was completely marred by the actions of one bad apple. When I arrived in the morning for my pre-arranged appointment for self check in of a U-Haul van, the keys were not available to access. I called the help line, & they were very gracious, offered an extra credit for my inconvenience, & said I could wait until 10 am (2 hours later) when the facility opened or I could go somewhere else. I decided just to wait until 10 & extended my rental time by 4 hours (from 8-12 to 10-6). When I returned & checked in, the woman working at the desk (Pam) was gracious & courteous. She asked me if 6 PM would be long enough for me. I said I thought so, but I wasn’t sure since I had work that day. She responded “Okay, well, we close at 7, so if you get back later, we have a drop box, & we don’t charge a return after hours fee because of the drop box.” I said okay, great, thank you so much.
Come 5:30, I’m loading my last piece of furniture into the van (not far from my new place nor the facility) & I get a frantic voicemail from Denise from Arthur’s Storage saying that my appointment was ending at 6, that she hoped I was on my way back by then because she needed the van at exactly 6 to prepare for an overnight pickup. I called her back & this was the exchange: Me: Hi, I’m sorry. Your colleagues made it seem this morning like the 6 return time wasn’t concrete & I had some leeway. Denise: Well, actually no, U-Haul closes at 5, so you don’t have that extra time & I really need you to be back by 6 to arrange an overnight pickup Me: I see, well I’m really sorry ma’am. That was not communicated to me as such & it’s 5:40 right now. I have to move my mattress out of the van into my home, so I’ll likely be back around 6:30. I hope that works for you, but like I said, this wasn’t communicated to me this morning. Denise: Well it really doesn’t work for me, no, because I have to arrange an overnight pickup for one of my tenants & I need your keys for that & I’d really like to get home *at some point tonight* Me: okay, ma’am, I’m very sorry for the confusion. I appreciate that this if frustrating, but like I said, I will be back to you by 6:30 the latest, & I will call you on the way back. Denise proceeded to list the ways that this inconvenienced her, I apologized again (though she was talking over me) & hung up. By 5:59, I was on my way back to the storage facility, called Denise, & told her I was on my way back to the facility. Me: Hi Denise, this is Nicolette, I’m on my way back now. Denise You need to make sure you fill it up with gas Me: ah yes, well I’ve used almost no gas today and the needle is still on F & she cut me off. Denise: Well this is what you agreed to & the next person will very quickly see how much gas you *didnt use*. Me: Oookay, Denise. I’ll see you soon. Denise: & bring a receipt. *click* This woman literally hung up on me [a customer].
I arrived back at the storage facility at 6:20 after putting $5.54 of gas in the car. I was not told where to park it when I returned so I pulled into the wrong spot. Denise: You can’t park here. You need to move the van. Behind the blue truck over there. okay, cool no problem. After that, there was barely an exchange, Denise told me I was fine to leave & did not ask for a receipt.
I’ve worked in service & other public facing jobs for 10+ years. I understand that things get mixed up, & it’s frustrating when you didn’t expect something to go wrong. That being said, the way that Denise spoke to me that day was wholly unacceptable. She was rude, spoke over me, & made my move more stressful than it needed to be.
Considering how polite & accommodating I was trying to be on the phone, & considering that my own appointment had obviously *not* been a priority the very night before, I do not understand how exactly this woman felt it appropriate to scold me like a child, act as if this w

Pam at Arthur's Self Storage in Green Brook, NJ was incredible. I was using a truck for my wedding - she was so helpful, informative, patient and understanding through the entire process. I highly recommend this UHaul location, and will be using them in the future!
