We took the moonlight kayak experience and it was fun! Very good equipment, and they ensure that they give everyone a light (to track) and a whistle (in case of emergencies). Unfortunately, on the night we went out, there were many clouds and we just got a tiny glimpse of the moon. But the overall kayak experience through the marshes and under the bridges was amazing and is a total value for money! When they say only for experienced kayakers, believe them because they go at a very fast pace, especially towards the end. There is a small washroom near the river to use, but it is not very clean and also has no lights. We got drenched by the end of the tour, and regretted not taking a change of clothes! The actual launch point for the kayak is a 10-15 minute walk from the Secaucus station.

We took a moonlight tour yesterday out of Secaucus and had access to great equipment on a lovely night. The event itself was a nice route through marshlands with a beautiful view of the city, but was not run well.It was not clear on the tour who the leader was. There were no safety instructions about what to do if we got separated from the group, and the employees did not communicate well with one another. Thankfully we have experience kayaking, but unless you are confident on the water I would not recommend this experience.

It is ironic that I saw many more birds 15 minutes from my home than when I was in South Africa on safari. Who would have thought there was so much wildlife...in Secaucus, NJ. Capt. Bill is an endless source of information about the waterways in North Jersey and his passion for the conservation of these vital areas is contagious. We were on the tour for close to three hours and everyone, even my teen daughters, loved the trip on a perfect summer day. Even saw a bald eagle. A true must see in the area.

Two friends and I took the guided wildlife kayak tour yesterday. It was perfect weather but our guide could have been better. In 2 hours he not once even looked back to see how we were doing even though we had fallen behind him toward the end of our trip. We are senior citizens and he docked his kayak when we were still far out. We had to disembark without his help or guidance. We could have been in trouble and he never would have known. He didn’t care. We will not come here again.

Excellent 2-hour tour on a pontoon boat. Captain Bill narrated with interesting stories of the area, including efforts to clean up the river from industrial pollution, the history of various bridges and land features, nesting birds, and plans for the future. He was a wealth of knowledge, and a great story-teller. I highly recommend this experience, and that you dig deep to support Hackensack Riverkeeper Inc.

Rented a kayak here. Lowest prices in the area. They also have canoes and SUPs. Went on the other side of the bridge and saw lots of cormorants and egrets. Nice peaceful 2 hours on the lake.
