I contacted Albert last week on Thursday in the morning to obtain a quote for sanding and staining my floors. I just bought a new home and had removed the carpet from the floor myself but did not feel comfortable enough to complete the rest of the work to finish it. He promptly arrived later that day and provided me with a very reasonable price for the work to be done. He was able to start the work the next day on Friday and by Sunday afternoon I had received a call that the work had been finished. I saw my floors yesterday evening (Monday) and they looked absolutely beautiful. I am incredibly happy with his promptness, his professionalism, and the quality of his team's work. I would happily recommend him to others looking to finish or refinish their hardwood floors. I have included before and after photos.

Had the pleasure to work with Albert and his crew six years ago at my parents house. So when my husband and I bought a house recently it was Albert I called to refinish the hardwood floors at the new house. His prices are very reasonable and the quality of the finished product was impeccable. He took the time to make sure the floors were perfect. Highly recommend this company.Service: Sanding

BUYER BEWARE, the owner of this company is unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about the work his company performs. If you take the time to read this and still proceed to do business with this company. You only have yourself to blame after that. I met Albert Matarrita on June 3rd, 2021 where we scheduled an appointment at 12:00 PM. He then texts my fiancé at 11:41 AM saying that he was running 30 minutes behind. He didn't arrive at the house till after 1:00 PM. That should have been enough for me but my fiancé says he does good work based on reviews. Albert finally arrives and walks into the house and apologizes for being late. My fiancé told him it's okay, where I responded don't be sorry just don't do it again. (I'm a United States Marine Corps Veteran punctuality is key.) Our time is just as valuable as his and it shouldn't be taken for granted. Albert walks our home he then proceeds to give us a price of $2,500.00. Which I didn't fight with him on. I said ok if my fiancé wants it then this is what we will do. I said most importantly is color. As I specifically had an accent wall built for her in white and gray stone. She said it's important to have a good color contrast and I agreed. She then showed Albert a sample color of what she found to be suitable for our new home. Albert said this wouldn't be a problem at all. On the day of we will make sure we have the right color combination you pick out. Then he told us the process which would entail sanding, prepping the floors, staining, and then clear coating. During this time my fiancé had already shown Albert the clear coating she wanted as one of the rooms match her desired clearing coating preference. (GLOSSY) I'm a loan officer and at a bank and took time off to be there during the initial meeting with the gentleman that my fiancé wanted to do the floors. My fiancé is an ER Nurse, we had just purchased this home and we had it completely renovated. That being said the contractor had finally finished the home which Albert was aware of since we made it a point to let him know that he would be the last one in our home to do the floors. What followed next, no one could have imagined. Here we are after purchasing the home in April and the final part remaining to be taken care of was going to be done by Mr. Matarrita as of July 20, 2021. The work gets started and my fiancé is communicating with me while she is there with two gentlemen employees in our home. Mr. Matarrita only showed up to go pick up the stain with one of the workers and then left. My fiancé then proceeds to send me pictures of the stain choices on which she was deciding on. After they mixed the desired color they proceed to start staining our floors. This first day they did one layer of stain. At this time there was no covering of our moldings nor were they removed. They were fully exposed to the elements. On the same first day, one of the workers accidentally kicks over the can of ebony stain all over the dining room wall, dining trim, and floor. So now there is not only the mess that has been caused by brown paint, now the worker begins shaving/sanding down the floor even more because of the mistake he made. (The employee never told Mr. Matarrita.) Neither did Mr. Matarrita come back to check on his workers that same day. They returned two days later to do another layer of stain in the home. This is where my Father In-law informed my fiancé that now there were brown stains all over the white molding on our new home that was just painted. My fiancé works a 12-hour shift in the ER as a Nurse. She then texts Albert at 8:44 PM to inform him what's going on. Albert has no idea what's happening as the business owner, which is scary. Albert tells my fiancé that he will come to see the property that evening at 9:30 PM. Albert arrived clearly frustrated at the fact he has no idea what's going on at a job site that he is supposed to be in charge of but is not. He then goes on to say WOW this is messy and I don't work like this. (Clearly

Albert and his team is the flooring company that I hired in my whole house renovation project. Albert and his guys did a very good job from the beginning to the end. My old white oak hardwood floor looks like brand new after their refinishing work. And his price is also very fair. Additionally, Albert also help me with choosing the appropriate staining color when I had difficulty in deciding which color to choose. Albert is very professional and experienced in flooring work. Thanks to his advice, my floor just looks perfect now.Services: Staining

***update - 1/16/2021***Response here (since I cant reply to owner's response):Thank you for your response, however, I don't appreciate the inaccuracy of your response for a few things:1) I purchased the house that year and carpet was previously installed in those rooms; I did not put carpet down nor wanted carpet in the room, which is why I called to redo the floors.2) I provided final payment the morning of, rather than at the completion of the work, because you were flying out of the country later that day (a poor decision on my behalf for being trusting).3) When the work was complete, you or your guys DID NOT call me to let me know you were done; I drove by the house and saw your truck was gone and my front door, leaving my house unlocked(I thought nothing of it since the house was still empty).4) The reason I provided my comments below, a year after, is because at the time of the work, I was unaware that there were things your guys could have done to remediate any gauges in the floor (whether previously there or created during the work) rather than just fill it with wood filler. As a first time home buyer, there was a lot that I didnt know but as I've learned more about flooring, I realized the work was done imperfect, most likely at a means to keep the job easy.I am not here to call you and your team unprofessional, however, I picked you to do the work and trusted your team to delivery great results or provide proper guidance. Unfortunately I was wrong.***end***I hired New Jersey Flooring to sand and re-stain the floors in my home at the end of August 2019. I felt the owner and his staff were professional and very informative leading upto the work, however I was not satisfied with the end result. To start, when discussing what he'd need to do, he recommended doing 2 coats of oil based stain throughout the house, which didn't leave the floors smooth at all; it could have been that the sanding wasn't done well but after some reading and consultation, 3 coats appears to be the common recommendation. Days after the completion of the work, I was finding rough patches in parts of the floor throughout the house. The next issue was that after removing the carpets in the bedrooms, I noticed that there were nail and screw heads visible in the floorboard. Although I brought this to his attention and asked whether it would make sense to replace those boards, the owner recommended against replacing the board and to just popping of the heads of the nails/screws and filling the holes with wood filler. I had no issue with that idea and paid him to do that, however, it appeared that his guys, while removing some of the nails and screws, dug out a chunk of the wood and rather than replacing it, they stained over the wood but it is obvious a chunk of wood is missing. They also missed adding wood filler in some spots of the floor, while using it in other spots where it probably would have made more sense to replace the whole board.Lastly, I still believe that the owner was professional, however, the one thing I felt that wasn't professional was the fact that after the work, he never came back to check on how his crew did. Initially when hiring him, I asked if he'd be doing the work but since he was going to be traveling out of the country, I guess he left his crew to cover the work over the 2.5 days. He came after day 1 to see how the sanding work looked and collect money and came the second day in the a.m. to also collect money, but he wasn't there following the completion of the work nor did he reach out after coming back to the states to check if there were any issues or concerns. Although I could have reached out, I believe that as the owner, he should have followed up to make sure the work was done to satisfaction. It's been a year since the work was completed, so I don't expect him to check up now nor for remediation of the issues; I still felt I should leave feedback as construction criticism and provide the owner with a reason why I personally would not recommend NJFlooring t

Albert was immediately responsive when I called for an estimate, a rarity with contractors these days. He came the same day, provided a written estimate within hours, and his rates were quite reasonable. He was honest in his recommendations, and his crew was reliable and efficient. We have an old house with imperfect soft wood floors, and we are happy with the result. Albert obviously cares about customer satisfaction, another rarity. We have already recommended NJ Flooring to friends.

Had multiple quotes to get my floors on the whole first floor done, and was on a very tight time frame as the house was empty and furniture was being delivered in a few days. Albert was very honest, very quick, and him and his crews work was as high class as they come. His price is very competitive and the quality and experience in dealing with him was completely 5 stars. If you need your floors done, this is the company to go with. You can try to get your estimates from others but chances are 3 out of the 5 companies won't even answer the phone calls anyways. The experience I had with Albert was top notch. Will be using him again and recommending him to anyone I know.
