Our daughter attended Sandy Hook Child Care Center for two years she absolutely loved it. The kids spend so much time outside learning about nature. The class size is small so all the kids and teachers become a little family. I love that her journey of learning began with Mother Nature. There is no school like this one, I highly recommend!

I fell in love with this little preschool after one visit, and we visited all the schools!! The opportunity to learn in a national park like Sandy Hook is not to be missed! The teachers really care and the outdoor experiences the kids have are downright magical. If you have not been to Sandy Hook, I can't recommend enough visiting with your kids to see for yourself. Fingers crossed you get a spot in this tiny gem!!

We were thrilled from the moment we realized there was a child care option out at the tip of Sandy Hook. We were even more thrilled after we met the teachers and learned there was a spot available for our son. He loved it. We loved it. Enrolling him at Sandy Hook Child Care Center was honestly one of the best decisions we've made. He was surrounded by small friends of all ages and teachers who truly loved him. Our hearts melt when we pull out holiday decorations he made while being there. We enjoyed the app they used to relay updates - from what he was eating, to doing his business, and pictures. All the staff clearly knew the kids well and cared for them like they were part of a family. Love and the outdoors is exactly what a child needs - and that's exactly what you'll find here!

SHCCC is a remarkable child care center that will always have a place in our hearts. Both of our daughters spent several years there, and they grew up in the shadow of nurturing teachers who were remarkably engaged in each child's development. And it was FUN! So much outdoor play, regular walks along the water spotting seals and other wildlife every day. Parent engagement is also very high and the Center leans on the talents and contributions of every mom and dad. A special place of learning in a stunningly beautiful setting - a real gem!

We fell in love with Sandy Hook Child Care Center when we were looking for an alternate preschool for our boys. We only wish we had learned about it earlier. The teachers are so incredibly kind; it’s truly like a family, as cliche as it sounds! I loved that they incorporate nature into the curriculum as it is so very important to foster a love for the outdoors and all living things. Unfortunately the pandemic cut off our time at SHCC early because our boys are now in kindergarten, but if we had any more children, I would get them on the waitlist for this school while pregnant! We’ve been through 2 other daycares/ preschools before and SHCC is BY FAR the best.

We loved the time our daughter spent at SHCCC. Unfortunately it was cut short due to the covid crisis. She has now aged out of the school but we look forward to sending our younger daughter when its time for pre-k it was such a loving and nurturing environment. We miss it.

When you're looking at child care options, you think no one can love your kid like you or a family member, until you meet the awesome team at SHCCC. This is truly a place where kids can be kids - outside time, dance parties, and teachable moment are daily occurrences. Teachers are always available and willing to meld to your preferences. It doesn't get much better...

I could write a book about all the things I love about this school. Firstly, (aside from the fact that my son sprints up the path towards school each morning) the teachers are simply amazing; They are kind, affectionate, compassionate, and come up with the most creative learning activities for the kids. Secondly, the time spent out of doors I feel is unmatched by any center around, and you simply cannot beat being able to utilize Sandy Hook. Third, my son is greatly benefiting from the small size as well as being integrated with children older, as well as younger than him, by learning things that most schools wouldn't yet teach to a toddler, and also to be gentle and nurturing to the little ones. Lastly, they let my child be himself, without throwing structure out the window. He comes home after each day spent there with sand in his shoes and dirt under his fingernails.

Dedicated teachers in a small group setting. The daycare utilizes their outdoor setting in a national park to raise environmentally-conscious children who love the outdoors. They believe in place-based learning with an interactive hands-on approach. Older students have the opportunity to participate in the Junior Park Ranger Program, and all ages are engaged in tending to the butterfly and vegetable garden, going on beach walks, seining in the summer, visiting the NOAA federal building to see fisheries scientists, and more. In addition to this, they provide a solid foundation for the children with letter recognition, handwriting, reading, and more. My daughter attended from 7 months to 4 years, and was so well prepared for pre-K and Kindergarten. My second daughter now attends the school and we can't recommend them enough.
