I love that this is NOT a humongous grocery store, but carries a good variety of produce, deli, and other items. Staff is wonderful. I like the layout of the store. Downside: the PRICES are VERY high---way, way higher on just about everything as compared to ShopRite or Trader Joe's (or even Whole Foods). Milk is twice as expensive. Fresh herbs, fresh seafood, poultry--all WAY more expensive than ShopRite's down the street.
It is like a convenience store for people who make a fortune on Wall Street. That's why I don't buy that much there.
Exception: Rotisserie chickens are just $6.99 on Tuesday--that is a very good deal, but the only one I can think of off hand. Otherwise, I think of it as an overpriced convenience store. Fine if you do not care about how much you spend on food. (Most people do care...)

Everything is a good 50% more expensive than the exact same SKUs at alternatives nearby, including Trader Joe’s, ShopRite and even Whole Foods. And when items are listed as on sale, they often don’t register as such at the register (even after typing in your account/phone number). Only go here out of necessity.

The store is conveniently located, but the amount of expired food on the shelves is unacceptable. I do not think their meat is properly stored as I have bought RANCID chicken multiple times. I bought a block of cheeses last week and when I opened it, it was covered in mold although the expiration was not for another month. The quality of the food is not worth the astronomical prices. You cannot leave this place without spending at least $50, and thats only for a few items.

There used to be several Kings stores in my area but this was the first one that opened up back in the 1930s and 40s, When I went inside all the carts were apparently stolen and because of the recent plastic bag ban in the state they offered 1$ shopping bags but besides these shortcomings it was a good store with lots of gourmet stuff.

Worst grocery store I’ve been to. Prices are marked up 20% more than anywhere else. The employees are not helpful and the deli counter employees are extremely rude. Ask them for more than one thing and they’ll roll there eyes and make a fuss. Be careful when you touch any of the packaged chicken as they don’t wrap it well and it leaks all over your hands, happens to me twice.

Not only is everything Hampton’s prices, I’ve bought expired and overall not good groceries. It’s Food for Less with Erewhon prices.
Also vegetables and herbs are not properly placed so when you go to buy your ten dollar bit of oregano you find it’s actually cilantro because overall this store is a sloppy mess.

Hoboken is generally highly recommended if you are staying in New York for a while. At Kings Food Markets you can find all the food you could ever want. Allergy sufferers can also find gluten-free and dairy-free products here.

This place needs to be closed down ASAP! Bought free range, organic chicken, tenders when I got home and open the package, the chicken smells so bad. This was checking that I was going to use to make my baby food. Seems like they leave their stuff on the shelf and don’t check if things have gone bad in the past I’ve also bought bread that had mold from here. please stay away from shopping at kings!!!

The managers and staff are fine. It's the obvious and blatant PRICE gouging that is outrageous. King's was always a ridiculously high-priced convenience store for the highly paid yuppies that live within a couple blocks of that particular store. But ever since ACME took over, the prices are now ridiculous; they have risen way WAY above the prevalent inflation rate, even taking into account disruptions of supply chains. I am a well-paid tax attorney--and I try to avoid shopping there. Example: Hass avocados at Hoboken shoprite: 50 cents each (4 for 2 bucks). King's price for an avocado: $3.50 each or 2 for $7. The price of milk, Orange juice and fresh and frozen veggies is often 3 to 4 times more expensive than Shoprite or nearby Trader Joe's. Until consumers start boycotting King's (and Whole Foods) the corporate greed will continue to drive consumer prices at these grocery stores. Just make the extra effort to shop where the prices reflect the wholesale prices. Don't fall for the SCAM.

I hope Shipyard Kings will get rid of the machine check out. Then I hope they send their cashiers up to Trader Joe's to observe how much happier and nicer their employees are. They smile and say hi when you get to their stand. At King's they act like they are doing you a BIG favor to personally check you out. It used to be a good place, but now it's a downer (with high prices despite the app discounts that often don't apply at this little Kings). I feel sorry for their employees who look miserable. Kings HQ could do "secret shopper" and see and compare to TJ.

Very poor experience at the Hoboken location today. Waited at the deli counter for several minutes without being acknowledged by the three associates behind the counter. They saw me there and kept on chatting. I walked away after a while. I don’t mind paying premium prices at Kings, but I expect premium service. This store has so much more potential.

Kings market is a very small quaint food market located a block away from Hoboken waterfront! The store is very organized and clean. Prices remind me of Acme food Markets so im not sure if they affiliated. Location has free 20 minute parking in front but if u plan to be longer there is a parking lot down the street that validates when u purchase any item in the store.
