Everyone is nice but I wish the pricing was more clear. They charge you $40 for gel manicure and an extra $30 for French/ombré. But, there is no sign on the wall stating pricing - or clear understanding about how they come up with these prices. They get the job done though and it could be worth it.

I have been going here for about a year for pedicures and gel manicures. It’s always a madhouse, so book ahead and don’t rely on a walk in appointment. There is a 7% discount for paying with cash. The people aren’t overly friendly, and sometimes they are a little aggressive with the nail tools, but overall it’s not a bad spot

This is by far the BEST nail salon in Hoboken. Sun - the nail technician that did my nails and she did an incredible job. She took her time, chatted with me, and made sure I was happy. You must go here…. You won’t be upset that you did.

Used to go to the Nail Bar but I find Modern Nails to be more professional / better service so I’ll be returning. I loved the gel manicure Sun did!

I trialed this nail salon today because my regular spot was closed, and unfortunately, had a terrible experience and will never go back. The front desk manager/male is not polite and yells at you. As I walked out and said thank you, he did not acknowledge me. Aside from this, the lady who gave me my pedicure rolled her eyes at me, was extremely rough with cutting my nails, was careless with the clear coats/barely covered the nails, and rubbed my legs for 2 minutes. She then walked me to the drying station and stood at my side waiting for a tip, which she did not truly deserve. Lastly, if you want a clean place, do not come here. I did not leave feeling relaxed, but angry. The nails did came out decent, which is the only reason why I gave 2 stars and not 1.

Warning!! Horrible business rules. Agree with another reviewer that this place has become a nail factory and doesn’t care about their bad quality. For context, I’ve been loyal to this place for gel manicures. In the past, the quality for has been generally good with a couple bad manicures due to poor shaping, filing the nail down too much with the machine, or color distribution. I’m not too picky so I never complain, until today.I’d gotten dip powder manicure for the first time 10 days ago before a trip. Within the first days, the SNS cracked and started to yellow. I was shocked because I was careful with them and avoided hot water, dirt/sand, and pool water. A couple days after that, it started to chip off too! I couldn’t come in until today because I was away.I showed the receptionist the nails you see in the photo. I politely explained that I had been a loyal customer and that I knew dip manicures should last 3-4 weeks, and I asked for them to fix the nails given they’d started cracking on day 2 or 3. She looked at the horrible condition they were in and told me they would charge to fix these nails because they only cover fixes until day 7. I was willing to give them a second chance figuring maybe it was the technician error or they used an old product. What business would think it’s acceptable to charge to fix such a terrible service?Apparently I was too patient with Modern! Shameful. When they didn’t take accountability for their terrible job, I went a few blocks down Washington street to another salon that took their time, gently removed with a nail file instead of a machine, gave a beautiful replacement dip, and charged less than the original that I got here 10 days ago. Mistakes were made here, but never again! Goodbye Modern!

Within two weeks of getting a pedicure here, both of my big toenails broke in half from normal exercise which has never happened to me before. I think they buffered my nails down too thin or something? Will never go here again.

I had an amazing experience at this spa. I personally had Blanca and she was incredibly thorough with the full spa treatment that I paid for and I’m loving my nails. Prices are also on par with locations outside the city, so it was nice to see here. Photos of prices as of 05/22/2023Services: Pedicure

I have been a customer several times and after my latest experience, I will not return. I don’t usually make an appointment so I do not expect to have the same tech each visit, but I do expect the quality to be consistent.I had a set of UV extensions put on before my wedding (I mentioned it was for such event). They said they had the time and the availability. The nails were so unbelievably thick they just didn’t look or feel right. The shaping was terrible and the tech was seriously rushing. It took all of 45 minutes.I paid in full, I tipped my tech in cash directly; but really should not have tipped at all as the service was so poor. I had to have the extensions removed elsewhere the next day- and the tech there was SHOCKED that someone had done this to my nails. My natural nails were destroyed in the process because the set was improperly done.I don’t recommend coming here unless you just want a basic mani or pedi.

Ugh I used to like Modern Nails, even though it's so big they used to be good, now it just feels like a mediocre factory. I almost wasn't upset about my super stripey manicure but then I made the mistake of getting a massage. It was bodywork like which I sometimes don't mind but it was SO u symmetrical/random, and then they have you stick your face in parchment paper instead of a paper towel so after 15 minutes of my face being smooshed into crinkley paper I'm officially 100x less relaxed than when I came in.Services: Spa services

The place looks all fancy but the staff is rude. The lady who did my nails was quite harsh and rude. I tipped generously but the work was fast and shoddy. My nails are already ruined despite drying for over 10+ mins. No send off or anything. Didn’t come check my nails. Another one checked and said I’m good to go. Won’t be coming back!Services: Manicure

Not a kid-friendly salonI’ve been coming here faithfully for almost 2 years- some of the techs are nicer than others but after today’s experience I’m done with giving them business. I’ve always recommended this place and tipped well but I’ll be seeking other options in town.I brought my niece (8) and daughter (5) here for mani pedis. It was their first time. Neither nail techs said hello, or directed them, or even looked at them. They seemed extremely annoyed by their presence as soon as they walked in. I could totally understand someone being annoyed by kids- but these two girls were so well behaved and so excited for the experience. I said hello to the nail tech who did my nails about 3 weeks prior and no response (she did my daughters nails). Okay. Literally zero communication the entire time. My niece asked me the difference between adults getting their nails done and kids and I replied “I’m not sure, maybe it’s a little cheaper for kids”. Her nail tech replied to her in Spanish “there’s no difference- it’s the same price”. Got it- I also speak Spanish. A little strange but okay. Moved on to manicures, still super flat.My niece smudged one nail while her hand was under the dryer. I apologetically asked if someone could touch it up. This put the tech over the edge and she told her not to move again because she had other clients and she wouldn’t be able to fix it. She was super rude about it and said it to her in Spanish. I’m sure she didn’t know that I understood her. I totally get the minor inconvenience but there was no reason to talk to her that way. My niece told me how embarrassed she was and I told her it happens to everyone at some point- which is true. It could’ve happened to anyone. No goodbye, no response to thank you, no nothing. Kind of like a “get the hell out of here” feeling. She came back to ask her, again in Spanish, how old she was. Not sure what the point of that was since supposedly kids and adults pay the same price. When was time to pay, the tab came out to $84. Mind blown. Please take your kids elsewhere. Or use anyone besides Elsa & Maria. They’ll appreciate it and so will you.

This place is an absolute scam. Beware because they will tell you a different price than the service your getting actually is. Also no one is using gloves and they don’t use to protecter on the Pedicure station. So disgusting. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would recommend soho nails down the block.
