Sales staff was not entirely unhelpful, but the vibe was very strange. They were mostly dismissive and seemed kind of patronizing when I approached them to ask for help with a product I was interested in.

There’s very rude old lady who worked in the store keep on asking if she can help but try to annoy the people in the store. I bought a mug in the end, she sarcastically said: oh breaking a bank here!…. Like bruh what the hell

Dismissive sales rep
We visited the store on February 1st, 2025, and were greeted by a rude, unhelpful salesperson. We asked for recommendations on high-performance, low-maintenance rugs but received nothing but low-effort, dismissive responses, such as all rugs are the same and there is no difference in durability or ease of care for rugs.
I tried to prompt more helpful answers by mentioning how West Elm recommended performance velvet fabric for our couch due to its durability against pet scratches. I asked if something similar would be suggested for rugs, but the salesperson just brushed it off, repeating that all rugs are the same. We left feeling like our questions annoyed her, and we weren’t considered worthy of being sold to.
It was a very unpleasant and disappointing experience. West Elm’s products are priced at a premium, partly because of their customer service. With this type of service, I’m not so sure the products are worth it.

Their furniture has gotten the ven nicer and is sort of affordable. People who worked there were unbelievably nice.

After having such a terrible experience with West Elm Paramus (not with a sales associate but the whole process) I went to Westelm Hoboken and it was the best decision I made. This is how customer care should be! JOHN made sure we found what we were looking and gave us a lot of detailed information. He even helped me to carry the items I bought that I highly appreciated. I would definitely recommend West Elm hoboken! Great team of employees, and customer care.

Horrible customer service. Came to try and purchase a bed frame and a mattress and got lectured on not trying then with the sheos on? Is this a new policy?? How is one supposed to try and buy? Raymour and Flannigan comparatively said to try with the shoes on. Well, west elm lost my 10k business and thousands more in the future as we are in the process upgrading our home. Shrug.

I recently the most terrible experience with West Elm, where I received the wrong item and had to go through various hoops to obtain the right item. It was a stressful and unpleasant experience which has led me to not shop at the store anymore. I don’t feel valued or cared for as a customer, and I will make sure to spread the word about my experience on my socials and word of mouth. Terrible service, so disappointed.

I just want to give a special shoutout to Jon who was incredibly helpful in the Hoboken store - I have been shopping for a couch for awhile and he patiently took the time to walk me through fabrics, sizes and answered any questions and concerns I had. He truly made my decision making process much smoother and I was able to pick a couch finally!

DONT' BUY FROM WEST ELM or SISTER BRANDS! Beyond disappointed with my experience with West Elm. They don't seem to care about the inconvenience caused to their customers which makes me believe that they're not in the business of retaining customers. My order was delayed by a few (3) months. The team made no attempts to reach out to me to communicate the delay because of warehouse issues, everytime they delivered wrong stuff and I have to call delivery man about wrong item. Staff is very rude and supervisors dont' come on phone. To add insult to injury on top of that I call into customer service and get repeatedly told "their supervisors are in a meeting" which is total bogus because when I ask when it's over the lady says "oh well uh I can send them an email but they are still in one right now".I would 100% not recommend anyone fill their home with west elm. Zero star.

Destini, Alberto & Idalys provided exceptional customer service. Their patience, understanding and problem solving skills were truly refreshing. West Elm should be proud of having these individuals represent the face of their company, and should consider promoting them. Thank you guys!!!
