Metropark

Metropark is a large, well-maintained train station about 30 minutes from New York City. It is a major hub with many Amtrak and NJ Transit commuters traveling to cities like NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, and DC. Most express trains stop here, making it extremely convenient for getting to New York. The station features massive, well-lit parking decks with signs showing available spots and regulated driving directions. There is ample parking, including free 20-minute spaces for pick-up and drop-off, which is easy and convenient. The station also has a good cafe and coffee. However, it gets extremely crowded, busy, and chaotic during weekday commute hours. Parking and exiting the lot can be a significant headache, with issues like tailgating, honking, and drivers using wrong ways to exit quickly. The exit process, especially when returning from New York, often becomes a chaos where people push others. This congestion also affects the elevators, creating battles for access. The walkway under to the southbound side has some construction, and more such pathways are needed to avoid long walking distances. Parking costs increase the longer you stay, but the location is overall convenient to the Garden State Parkway. Despite the crowds and challenges, it is considered the only or best way to get to NY.
