Moving and enriching. Dense enough to enjoy the experience despite a large number of visitors.
To do absolutely.

On your way to Statue of Liberty, the ferries make a stop at the Ellis Island where this museum holds the historical records and life of millions of immigrants who came to USA from all over the world in 1930s. It’s so enlightening to learn how they all spent first few weeks of their lives at this Ellis islands facilities. The museum has bunch of collections and artifacts from the immigrants living days. There are small demos how their beds and residence looked like. Few short films are played in a small theater. I found the gift to be very interesting too. It had lots of unique NY NJ based souvenirs and goods. It takes about couple hour or so to fully explore the place.

We went thanks to the Statue of Liberty ferry since it also included Ellis Island. It is best to go as early as possible since at 3:30 p.m. they told us that they were about to close and it was a bit of a quick visit. The views are very beautiful and the museum is quite educational and the audio guide is highly recommended.
