Phone person very rude...refused to put someone higher up on phone ..hung up on me...and told me go to another h&r block and gave me complete wrong information had to call back to get someone else on the phone wont ever recommend or go there

Shockingly bad. My simple taxes (W2, individual) took over 4hrs of me sitting with the tax preparer over 2 different visits. The first time was around 1.5 hrs, and the preparer handed me my taxes to sign off on - but they said I owed nearly $4000, which was wrong. He needed an additional 2 days to consult a Sr preparer, so I came back in Saturday afternoon. This time I only owed around $1500 - which was also wrong. It took another 3 hrs in the office, and consultations with 5 preparers, during which I thoroughly explained why the return was wrong. One person managed to fix it in around 10 min, once he finally understood why it was wrong. Then another hour wait while he and I both explained why the 1st and 2nd attempts were wrong to the original preparer, the new guy told the other guy how to fix it, and I waited on the paperwork to be done.\ \ The preparer failed to understand even very basic concepts - at one point I had to use props to explain how money transfers work. Not one of 5 preparers questioned how a city income tax was showing up as 2+ times higher than the state income tax - and couldn't even tell me what city charged the tax. (They thought a city income tax rate of over 3% seemed ok, when it was actually .0340%.) They didn't catch even the most obvious errors, and I had to insist multiple times I wanted to read things before agreeing to them. They autofilled things like consent to marketing campaigns and selling my info for advertising, and it took multiple people multiple tries to figure out how to move forward with the return without my consent to these, which I explicitly refused to give.\ \ They couldn't answer basic questions about their own products and didn't understand their own systems. The preparer then kept commenting on how he was staying late to help me, when he'd already wasted hours in mistakes and inability to understand or answer very basic questions.\ \ In the end I got a tax refund, after being told twice that I owed thousands of dollars. Despite their accuracy guarantee (laughable in the circumstances), they even tried to sell me additional \\\"tax return protections,\\\" while being entirely unable to explain why such a thing should be necessary for a straightforward W2 tax return. Never again - and it took over 10 min just to bypass the auto-scheduling of an appointment for next year!\ \ Also worth noting that no one working there was wearing a mask correctly, nor were client areas disinfected.\ \ Update: I called the 800 number from the reply. 20 min in, and I'm holding because the representative couldn't load her notes in the system, so I have to hold while she retypes them. If I don't hold, the entire thing closes and the next call starts. So another massive waste of my time by a company that's already wasted far too much of it.\ \ Update 2: I was told the case would be investigated and I would receive an update within 3-5 business days. It's now been 14 days since that call. With no response from H\\u0026R Block, I called them back. The case is \\\"still under review\\\" and I can \\\"expect an answer within 3-5 business days.\\\" Even the rep laughed a little when she said that.\ \ RUN, DON'T WALK. Avoid at all costs, since the one overpaying on taxes is the client, and H\\u0026R Block doesn't respond to complaints *except* in a public forum. They don't resolve issues, don't stand by their guarantees, are incompetent, and don't even pretend to stand behind what they tell their clients.

It wasn't any better than if I did it myself. They were snarky and didn't really give me any more information than I could have just found out on my own. They didn't ask me any questions and just made a lot of assumptions about me. They didn't give me any advice or tips on how to improve my tax filing experience in the future.

Marcos was very informative and SO HELPFUL with my taxes! It was intimidating what I owed and he helped me get a handle on my w4's so next year I'll be in a better position for a refund!

Called early morning on the last day of tax filing to make an extension (company missed the timeline to send a corrected W2) they took 6 hours to say they cannot do it that day. I was left with 3 hours to find a place that will do the extension. Absolute disregard for the urgent nature of the requirements
