I would like to review LSC from a kid's POV. I have been here in several different scenarios: * as a child many moons ago, back when the touch tunnel was open more often than closed * volunteering every year for e-Week (Engineers' Week), where I staff a table and visitors to LSC bring their kids to build models and play engineering games * bringing my friend's 5th grader to a regular day at LSC and see what it has for older kids * most recently, for the 21+ "After Dark" series I can say it was interesting as a child, but as an adult the ticket prices are stifling. This will cost you way over $100 to have two parents, two kids, maybe a planetarium show, food and drink. Plus parking. But that's how they fund their exhibits. Again, for your child, there are a range of interactive exhibits and touch toys (yeah, you may want to bring a container of baby wipes for your kid's hands to reduce chance for disease), buttons to press, math to practice, even live animals! My 5th grade consort found plenty to do, such as a lab where the kids dressed in white lab coats and walked through an experiment to learn that process. May have been both of our favorite activities that day. The giant hanging climb-through-it tunnel I think is off limit to adults, but it was open to us for "After Dark" so I finally got to experience that and understand why it's not for adults (tight corners, minimal headspace, no room to pass when it's popular/crowded). In the end, not my vote for a place to casually blow money, but a must-visit for parents or schools to bring their kids. Maybe more than once so they can grow into different and exciting exhibits. Good times.

Seems to be underrated. I rarely visit Jersey City, but I came here for the Brewsology Beer Festival. If you're not familiar with them, they take over museums across the country and hold a huge beer festival. This time it happened at the Liberty Science Center. I consider it to be a hands-on type of musuem. The third floor is my favorite. You can crawl around through a pitch-black tunnel, do a rock climb, play around in a climbing gym. This floor features animals, train sets, microbes. The Planetarium was probably my favorite, and it is reportedly the largest planetarium in the United States. I wasn't aware of this. Overall, 4 stars - fun and educational.

So this is the first time ever that I've come to the liberty science center and I don't know how it has taken me 36 years to do so. Learning is so much fun when it's interactive and if you don't believe me ask any child there. I went on a weekday for like 45 dollars and along with exploring the whole place we also got to see a show in the planetarium that talked about living on other worlds. The entire experience was mind blowing and you learn so much. From live animals to electricity to hanging off the side of a building its all there. I think my favorite part was the show in the planetarium though. I think it's the biggest on the east coast. Even though some of the attractions were closed we still had an amazing time. I'll definitely be back . Oh and they do have a food court if you get hungry

Fun time with family. Can get crowded so be strategic with times. Clean facilities. Would get a pass if we lived closer.

I'm from out of state but have family in NJ. This is the second time I've been, once when my oldest was a toddler almost 5 years ago and now while my youngest is a toddler. Both times have been enjoyable and it's nice that both kids had things that they enjoyed. It's clean and the exhibits are kept up well. It's nice that there are new things to enjoy as well as some of the things from previous times.

My two year old loves LSC! There are plenty of things to do and see and it's an easy way to spend a few hours indoors, especially now that it's getting colder. Parking is plentiful and it's not hard to get a spot, even on the weekends which is nice. There are several floors of exhibits - they do a good job of rotating new exhibits into the mix which is nice. The planetarium is a must visit. It's an upcharge of $8 (or $6 for members) to see a show. They currently have a sesame street show which my daughter really enjoys. She also loves wobbly world and the trains - both a must see if you are visiting with a toddler! They've really upgraded the cafe area since I was a kid and you can find a bunch of different food kiosks like pizza, tacos and bbq. They also sell local beer which is cool. If you plan to visit more than once during the course of a year it's definitely worth looking into a yearly membership. If you are looking for a fun and educational way to spend the day then you cannot go wrong!

We're always on a hunt for educational spots to bring our children to, like museums and the Liberty Science Center! While many exhibits required additional charges, there are many that are included with general admission and kept our daughter busy and captivated. I think my favorite was the building w/ roof exhibit by the exit (I forget what it is called) which made for hilarious photo and video opps. It was an exterior of a building that rested on the floor, so children can pose however they wish while parents took pix and videos ... of them climbing the fire escape, jumping off the roof, etc. (with no danger or harm). What a clever idea. Take your children here!

Located in Liberty State Park on the Jersey City bank of the Hudson near the Statue of Liberty, this establishment measures 300,000 square feet and is dedicated to bringing the excitement of science to people of all ages. My partner and I visited on Labor Day. Liberty Science Center houses four floors, 12 museum exhibition halls, a live animal collection, aquariums, a 3D theater, and the nation's largest IMAX Dome Theater, making this place the largest interactive on-hand experience in the NY/NJ metro area. Admission tickets can be ordered online, as they have a limited number of tickets for each timed entry slot or walk-in. Upon entering and passing through security, one of the coolest things you see when you arrive is the Hoberman Sphere, which slowly expands and contracts before your eyes. We started on the 4th floor, worked our way down, and noticed that some of the exhibits were getting worn and needed renovations, while others were under renovation. The Infinity Climber hangs in the middle of the science center, between all of the floors, and is a big hit for small children who love to crawl and navigate through it. One of our highlights was at the Great Train Set with the miniature trains; those miniatures and dioramas were very cool and detailed. For added fees, one can view one LSC's film at the planetarium. We chose To World Beyond, where one tours the planets in our solar system. Beware if one has motion sickness! The theater is situated inside the dome that you see from the outside of the building. There's an observation deck where one could walk outside on the 4th floor and see Lower Manhattan. Parking is affordable at $7. If you have an interest in science or a day outing, it's still worth checking out. We highly recommend getting the membership, which lasts a whole year and reduces the cost per entrance of $32.99 per adult or $27.99 (age 2-12).

I bought my 2 kids ages 3 & 10 & we were very disappointed that Me & my children weren't allowed to enter the Wobbly World due to me being alone with them and my 10 year old couldn't enter. My son wanted to go in so bad! You suck LSC!!

A great place for children and adults that are young at heart. Planetarium shows are outrageous in the largest planetarium in the entire continent of North America! Special area for toddlers who are under 42 inches. Great variety of 3-D movies. Exhibit areas always changing. Membership is a worthy investment. Always check the website for hours. Special adult only nights twice a month.

Liberty Science Center in NJ is a captivating wonderland that sparks the imagination and fuels the thirst for knowledge in children.
