I arrived to try this gym out. Waited forever for the one attendant to return to the desk, then 10 minutes longer as he answered endless questions from 2 women on the price of various water bottles. Then I left to find a gym with some respect for my time.

It's insane!!! Supposed to open at 7am. It's 8:40am and a guy just showed up. Things keep getting worse and worse. I took a picture I don't wanna post it.

Management is terrible, never there to answer questions. Front desk staff unhelpful and simply refers to management "who will be there [three days from now] at [short time frame]"avoid like the plague--go to another gym that values you as a customer.

This could be a great gym. It is big, good location and plenty of parking. It really needs to be better managed. They are always late to open and don’t even care when they show up. Equipment is not maintained, cleaned or timely fixed when broken. Weights are never re-stacked. There is always trash and water bottles on the floor. The men’s room urinal has been broken for months wrapped in plastic with an out of order sign. Tanning booth has been out of order for years with an unsatisfactory health department certificate posted on it. Obviously the owner and the manager don’t care about the member’s experience. They used to open at 5 am during the week which was great to get a workout in before work but they changed to 6 am so I got Planet Fitness membership for week days. Planet Fitness is open on time, clean, maintains equipment. Retro needs to really take a hard look at its operations. Stop investing in unnecessary new treadmills and fix your dysfunctions.

By far the worst experience i've ever had at a gym. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend this place. Avoid at all costs.

Oh, where do I even begin with Retro Fitness in Jersey City? If I could give them zero stars, I would, but unfortunately, that's not an option. This place is a shining example of how NOT to run a gym.First of all, let's talk about their customer service. I've had better conversations with a brick wall than with the employees at Retro Fitness. It's like they go through a rigorous training program on how to be as unhelpful and rude as possible. You ask them a simple question, and they look at you like you just asked for the meaning of life. And good luck getting them to crack a smile – it's as if they have a strict policy against showing any form of human emotion. But the real cherry on top of this disaster sundae is trying to cancel your membership. I swear, it's easier to break out of Alcatraz than it is to cancel a membership at Retro Fitness Jersey City. They make you jump through more hoops than a circus tiger. You have to fill out forms in triplicate, provide a blood sample, and solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded just to get the process started. And don't even get me started on trying to reach someone in their "customer support" department. It's like trying to call the Lost City of Atlantis – you're more likely to have a meaningful conversation with a dolphin.Oh, and let's not forget about the gym itself. The equipment looks like it's been around since the '80s, and not in a cool vintage way. I half expected to find a Jane Fonda VHS workout tape in the corner. The weights are rusty, the treadmills creak like haunted houses, and the locker rooms are a biohazard waiting to happen. In conclusion, if you enjoy terrible customer service, a membership cancellation process that makes the Da Vinci Code look like a bedtime story, and working out on equipment older than your grandma, then Retro Fitness in Jersey City is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and find a gym that actually values its members and doesn't make you want to pull your hair out in frustration. Trust me; your sanity will thank you.

Good gym, Workout equipment is fine, people and staff is also nice. Only problem is cancellation process sucks. I gave them the letter to cancel long back, I was not able to access my account from the app so I thought they cancelled it but I am still seeing the charge on my bank account. If you cancelled it, please check your bank for at least a couple of months and act immediately to prevent further deductions.

Would stay away from this place. Scammed the entire Hoboken club when were auto transferred. Not that they care about a low rating, but I encourage anyone who has a bad experience to leave a 1 star review. The owner is void of class and it will come around to them in the long run.

I like the gym, but there are a lot equipments need to be fixed, such as the treadmills, punching bag, mirrors, shower rooms...If they can renovate at least part of the gym it would great since it has a perfect location and quite big space.
