(Shopped 12/02/2022 FR @ 12:00pm): Gosh Wally... I felt green behind the ears at this well-known drugstore! I was in need of a couple cold-weather necessities, so I decided to explore a main drag in Jersey City and came across Jersey City's Central Ave. Walgreens location. Oddly enough, this was my first ever time inside one of their stores. Let's face it, I grew up with CVS and Thrifty's/Rite Aid in California, so Walgreens was a stranger to me. How was my first impression of this national brand!? PURCHASE Various Groceries ($9.31): I was in need of a couple cold-weather necessities... along with a random ginger beer (if you knew me, you knew I loved ginger beer and always had to try one I'd never seen before which was the case here). The cold weather had my throat all dried out while the same climate oddly made my nose run and felt like I needed to constantly blow my schnoz! ~Walgreens Honey Lemon and Menthol Cough Drops 30ct Bags $1.50 x2 ~Puffs Plus w/Vicks Scent Cube Box Tissues $2.49 x2 ~Jamaican Choice Citadelle Ginger Beer 12floz Bottle $1.29 - Cloudy muted yellow color, strong ginger spices aroma, low body, strong ginger slight syrupy spices flavor, slight biting finish, and lingering aftertaste. SERVICE There were a handful of staff members (i.e. two cashiers, two stockers, and one in the pharmacy dept.), of which I only dealt with a female cashier once I was ready to check out. Otherwise, I really didn't need any assistance as I aimlessly roamed, easily found what I came for, and basically killed time - all was good. PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance) Although I had no idea whether or not they had a private or shared lot, there appeared to be sufficient street parking along the main drag of Central Ave. and surrounding roads. Otherwise, I simply took the 20-minute one-way walk from my friend's place - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A surprisingly diminutive store with several slim aisles decently stocked with many sections cased and locked up behind secured Plexiglass, the pharmacy was in the very back, a refrigerated section along the right wall, and the Plexiglass checkout counter at the very front. There was something depressing about the overall vibe with a pall of despair and discontent the entire time I was inside. Plenty of natural lighting came through the front windows and doors while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I didn't notice any TVs, but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops... if it weren't so freakin' cold. OVERALL Generally speaking, I found what I needed at Jersey City's Walgreens Central Ave. location which was the bare minimum I could've asked for. However, I couldn't get past the sense of dread and dearth in the air and was happier once I made it outside with my purchase in hand. From what I could tell, they sold all the things you'd expect in a drugstore, but the size of the store, the way it was laid out, its presentation, and the limitation of options left little to be desired. The prices were very comparable, and the service was straightforward which was all I really needed. I imagined this was a no-frills stripped-down version of their "normal" store... or at least I hoped it was. I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $9.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 3.0 STARS

If you want a dirty, rundown store and an unprofessionally run pharmacy, look no further. This store hasn't been mopped since my abuela was young. Scheduled a covid shot for my three year old, filled out all the forms in advance. They cancelled this appointment TWO HOURS before our scheduled appointment. They sent an email (not a phone call or text), with no explanation. Called the "main" Walgreens number, and they kindly re-scheduled us for later the same day. Went to this Walgreens only to find out that they were out of stock of the vaccine for kids under five. So we got an appointment re-scheduled without them confirming whether or not vaccine was actually available at the store. There are NO SIGNS indicating that they are out of stock. That would have saved us 15 minutes waiting in in line only to discover that point, that they had no vaccine. They list it on their website as being in stock, which is misleading and lazy if you aren't actually keeping up with your inventory. Do better, Walgreens! Going to CVS for all vaccines from now on, because your service is horrific and not customer-friendly.

If I could give a 0, that's what this store would get. 1 star was too much. My review goes to their Pharmacy. Incompetent people...don't know what they are doing....because you receive the phone call that your prescriptions are ready, but when you get there, NO ONE KNOWS where or what happened to your prescription. I gave the benefit of doubt, my medicine would be there, and AGAIN, shame on me for waiting...because they promised it was ordered and they'd have it in 2 days..so you wait...AGAIN...and of course again, not there. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL to ask someone, in front of a line of people(strangers) to announce what medicine your are expecting to pick up. I informed them, THIS IS MY LIFE WE'RE Talking about....I need this medication..they offered one...when the medication is to be taken as a 2 pill regimen. "The other we'll have to order" MY GOD I BELIEVED IN YOU PEOPLE when you told me that last week!!!! Do NOT EXPECT TO GET YOUR MEDICATION from this pharmacy if you really need it. I waited...hoping they would get my prescription filled...and WHAT DID I GET...MY DOCTOR TELLING ME MY BLOOD WORK CAME BACK AND NOW MY NUMBERS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE...I took my medication religiously....and now because I was foolish enough to keep hope with this pharmacy....my CHOLESTEROL IS HIGH AGAIN..MY OTHER (personal) illnesses are back and I find myself taking more and having to switch to different medication to fix my illnesses. SO MY REVIEW IS...IF YOU NEED YOUR MEDICINE TODAY..DO NOT BRING YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS TO WALGREENS ON CENTRAL AVE LINCOLN STREET IN JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS. BY THE WAY...ASK someone who goes there, they'll tell you the same! Thank you and good luck

Not sure if I came in on a bad evening, but the techs here could use some training in sensitivity/customer service. The young man I dealt with who had dark curly hair was curt and dismissive during my attempt to resolve an insurance issue after I informed him the information on file was out of date. I honestly don't think my issue would've been resolved if it weren't for Mr. Wei kindly intervening. His female colleague also took an individual in line beside me and very rudely told him "SPEAK UP". Not cool. I never condone rude or condescending behavior to customers.

I tried yet again to go to this store. Had to leave because there were 2 cashiers for a line of more than 20 customers. Also many hair are products require non-existent staff assistance to even access ahead of purchase.

This Walgreens is the worst! It's super close to where I live and I still go somewhere else to get my prescriptions filled. The employees are unfriendly like they are being held hostage. The store is dimly lit and always looks dirty. They are often out of stock and never seem to replenish anything. You'd think they were going out of business, the shelves are so empty. I thought when Walgreens took over there would be upgrades. If anything it's worse! Everything about the place screams, "we don't give a f@&k!"

I awaited in line to get my prescription Christmas Eve Thursday, and the woman behind the counter is not only arguing with me but also a elderly man who left his medicine down shore and needed a refill. She told me it was 5:03 and there was a sign for a month saying they close at 5. Keep in mind they do not reopen until Saturday! She was very rude and yelled. She was very inconsiderate I do not know her name but she was a short, Spanish, young girl with curly hair. Very unprofessional, I hope the elder man received his medication because I sure did not!
